Hi all,

Many apologies for the latest performance issues - we have located the issue and are actively resolving it. I'm not fully cognizant of the issues, but it relates to some upgrades that the host have carried out that have negatively affected us.

Please do continue to report any slow downs - we do read these threads, and it gives us a very good heads up. I'll report back when I know more.

at 1 pm eastern the forum loaded very fast, at least for me. whatever was done after seems to have had a negative effect.

and thank you for letting us know that there was/is a problem indeed -

Hello people, it is important to understand the cause of the problem that we report the precise errors we are getting; for 404 errors, in particular, it would be useful to have the URL of the page that you were trying to access.

We are looking into the problem, in any case.

504 just trying to get into this thread :(

I should also note that it was running better this morning.....as the day progressed, so did the issues. Right now, it does seem to be just like it was yesterday and well, for the past several days.

Hey everyone - I know this is really frustrating but we are looking at what we can do to fix it. Coming up with lots of potential solutions, but just have to work out the best way of dealing with it.

There's been a real increase in traffic in the last few days and that's what we think has caused the bulk of the issues - we are also taking another angle wrt the long-standing issues that some members have been having.

We will probably need to update the servers again, and this time with even more spare capacity. Our hosts will be looking at whether there's an issue with outbound traffic and certain networks.

Here's the thread I'm trying to read/post:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-huge-prizes-every-week-7067.html#post7076305
Here's my experience since the "update":
Argh, I just got 5 504s in a row. So much for the update. :(

24 minutes to get back in to see if that posted.
Is it a work in progress? I've tried logging out, clearing everything, etc. And as stated before by many others, this is the only website where I have these problems.

One thing I want to throw out that I've noticed. Not sure if this really would make a difference, but it's worth mentioning. I've noticed that when you click on something like "my posts" under "what's new" you get a new search everytime that shows changes you might have made just in the last few seconds. In another forum I'm on with the same software, it used to give you the results of your previous search. I'm not sure how it was done, but once you checked your posts once, it's a while before it actually performs the search again. What you get on later searches is results with a timestamp showing when the results were from. It would show new posts in the forums within the results, but if you'd posted to a forum you'd never posed in before, it wouldn't show up in the results for a while. Seems like this would cut down on load on the server. Just a thought, if it's something that can be set easily to try out.

we're back to 504s

coming from ''my posts'' trying for http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-huge-prizes-every-week-3529.html#post7069600

this thread opened in a heartbeat earlier today

running ff 14 with no-script xp pro

One point is that this is an attempt to open a specific post in a monster thread. It takes 20 seconds for me to open that, and every other (normal) page on the site is much faster (4 seconds max). If I go to the thread for example it is much faster:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...tures-thread-huge-prizes-every-week-7057.html
-or-
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...n-features-thread-huge-prizes-every-week.html

Some people have said that giant threads make no difference, this is certainly not true if you want to go to a specific point in the thread.

We have asked if we can split some of these threads but the owners said no. That being the case you may have to put up with slow load times. Not sure if we have asked GV about this thread though.

forum running smoothly this am for me - the gv thread opens within about 3 seconds, and so does ''my posts'' using kirsch. not that lucky when i tried your brandnew skin - much slower loading for me.

on 8-27 at around 1 pm that gv thread opened pretty much instantly for me - not sure what had been done to the forum at that time since you have been working on it for a few days now ......
