Hi guys and gals!

Got my kayfun nano in the mail this morning! :D

Cleaned it, built it and vaped it... well... I don't know if I put too high expectations on it but its not 5 times better than anything else... the taste is definitely better but my wicking must be a little of as I occasionally get a dry hit. Will make a new coil and wick in a few minutes to see if it gets better.

I'm however quite impressed by the ehpro quality. Maybe I was expecting a pile of junk or sub par steel but I must confess that I was pleasantly surprises by the finish and machining. No ruff edges, everything nicely polished and the threading is on par with my siamod... absolutely free spinning without any hard spots. I now would really want an authentic to compare because this clone seems really really nice. The machined groove in the top cap for the o-ring (that then matches the top of the short chiney) impressed me most. I can't figure out how the hell they managed to machine that groove. Really well made.

Now if only my wicking could make it justice, I would be super happy.

Regards
Tony

PS: Just checked and my kayfun mini (ivogo) is also up for delivery YUPI! :D

The wicking really is the hardest part. I was already playing with the wicking long before I got into the rebuilding, which was back in April. I'm to the point now that *most* of the time, I can get the wicking right, but not everytime by a long shot. But wrapping a piece of wire around something is the easy part; getting it mounted can be a bit more challenging till you get accustomed to whatever device -- but always getting that mystical "right" amount of whatever kind of wick, farrrrrr more challenging.

The shopping thing; I am cured. My theory is; first, we must realize that we are looking for a device capable of delivering the same nicotine hit as a cigarette and that simply does not exist. Second, DIY is the answer to the juice problem (30ml - $2.40).
In the time it takes to place an order for that latest and greatest mod, I can mix up 40ml of great tasting juice.
Yes, I will always have a backup for my backup and 200ml of juice on hand but I have quit filling boxes with vapejunk.

Lol so true :)
Unfortunately I just realized that my itaste vv3 can't be my backup anymore because I just did a 1.19 ohm coil on the kayfun and I am pretty sure that it won't fire on the vv3...

Back to wicking :
In my Protank and aerotank, the best results were in fact with sloppy builds - make the coil right on the wick and mount the whole thing together.

On the kayfun however, I am trying to make a nice coil first and wick it later. The problem with that is to get a tight connection between the wick and the coil but I am using a variant of the sandwich technique and I am now able to pull 3 x 2mm Eko wool through a 2.5mm id coil( making a sort of figure 8). It sits quite snug now and right now didn't get any dry hits yet but it's too early yet. I made this new coil / wick 10 min ago...

Here a pick of my nano with a Protank mini 3 tip. I like it more than the stock tip

Heh.. sounds like that by building such a low resistance coil, you just gave yourself an excuse to buy another mod that can handle the low resistance.

Me, I prefer my coils around 1.8 ohms, which doesn't drain the battery too fast, and lets me use any of my mods. And I really don't intend to buy anymore mods for some time... but I keep thinking about that stainless Vamo V2.. found a great price on one, $23.99, and I think it's US, so no long wait like I had with my gun-metal one.

But I'm NOT going to buy anymore mods for awhile...

Lol. My evic s handles coils down to 0.5 no problem. The sigelei and vv3 have a 1.2 minimum limit. This was just an experience. At 3 id I get 1.5 Ohms with 6 turns, at 2.8 Id I get 1.36 Ohms and at 2.5 mm I get 1.19. If I want to keep the 2.5 id I will have to make an extra wrap (7) which will definitely put me above the 1.2 ohm limit.

$23.90...ccould you tell me where?

Sure... Vamo V2 Variable Voltage, Variable Wattage Mod Stainless Steel Body -- but I just determined that it's NOT in the US; they apparently celebrate chinese new year, so... what does that tell you. :D

But, maybe they don't ship thru PostNL, with pkgs arriving in NYC where they sit for a week before anyone gets off their butts and does something with them. 8-o When I ordered non-battery items from e5cigs, in Hong Kong, I got them in 9 days, with no delays on US entry.

Lol. It just never stops does it? Right now my 2mm Eko wool is working really nice. No dry hits so I am starting to wonder where I could get my hands on a few miles of Eko wool to stock up lol.

It's too soon though. Need to try other techniques and find the best setup for me in terms of wicking...

Ps: the wissleing sound is driving me crazy though.. How do I fix that?

The kayfun whistle huh? I saw some guys that beveled the edge of the airhole so it is not a 90 angle and they said that stopped it but i haven't had the heart to do that to mine yet. Maybe after it gets a bit more scratched up! They didn't enlarge the hole just widened the opening which launched into a whole other debate on messing up the airflow. But IMHO it should not mess it up as it is just the outer edge that was enlarged and not the entire air passage. I saw another guy that did bore out the passage as well.

That your eVic you were waiting on too?

You mean the one that can be seen laterally on the bottom part (the hole that is covered with a finger when you want to pre prime it?)

Yes that's my evic s :D

Just be grateful you can hear it. I really miss the sounds of vaping without my HA's.

HA? What's that?

Hmm... its not the lateral airhole... I removed the bottom screw (that regulates airflow) and covered the lateral hole so that the air would enter only from the bottom hole and it still makes the whistling sound. going to cover the bottom hole with same tape and try to use only the lateral to see if it gets better.

Be right back

I think the only way to make it completely stop is to either open the airflow completely, or somehow remove whatever doohicky is in the airflow control hole; some kind of screw I think.

But, after you've used it for a few weeks, you really don't even notice the sound. I know this is true because I recently gave mine a readjustment, and suddenly, the annoying whistling is back. I'm confident that after I've used it for some time longer, I'll once again stop noticing the sound.

It's a good idea not to buy a whole bunch of anything for a new device -- wick material especially, since you also should try organic cotton and rayon, to know for sure what you like -- and Dixie, don't buy a whole bunch of coils -- you may start rebuilding your own, and then all those coils would be just a waste of money. I was determined to buy a ton of replacement coils from FastTech for my T3S tanks, when we got our income tax refund -- glad I had to wait, because by the time we got the income tax refund, I was rebuilding all my coils, and had even acquired a couple of kayfuns and completely retired all my T3S tanks.

Hearing aids.
Oh ok. Sorry didn't realize the acronym :)
Hahaha keep it up and pretty soon you'll be trying to find a new husband who has enough space for all your purchases
Lol. I eventually told my wife about the evic... Well sort of... I told her I got a new bottom cap and a USB interface... Didn't exactly mention it was a whole new unit nor the cost which I will deny in any case... So far so good. I also made sure to hide the sigelei so she regards it as an upgrade, not an addition heheheh.
This is great. I have the same problem. I literally have one of every type of Mod. From box mods to tubular, VV/VW to mechanical. I can't even use everything in one day. I should really sell what I'm not using.
Hmm that's an idea but I don't actually have a surplus... Vv3 is backup, sigelei is for beach or ruff activities and evic is my main. Maybe the pt3 mini or aerotank mini are in excess but you never know...

:)
