To make or buy, that is the question

I am wanting a cylindrical pv, not too big around and not much longer than a penstyle. I want more power, longer battery charge, fantastic flavor, good vapor, dont care about th (know this is usually based on the juice anyhow), VV and the ability to try anything, everything...meaning, if I want to use a 510 atty, hv or lv, an 801, 901, or all the other myriad of connectors, etc.

And now the question...Do I buy something and if so, what? Or, do I make something, and if so, what and how? I have never made a mod, but will be making my first this weekend. (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...re-worries-batt-connectors-15.html#post664701) because it looks simple enough for me to get my feet wet.

From buying the supplies yesterday, mods appears to be cheaper, cost wise, which is something that I have to be watch. I have looked at so many different "pre-made" pv's and most are not a good fit for me, simply because of cost.

I know I want something different, but not sure which model to go with, if I buy. I started out wanting an 801, and went to wanting a vv mod. So I was thinking that a homemade mod with the specs listed above would probably be my best bet. Something I can do myself and will "fit" what I want.

Well, I look at it like this...... I was buying a carton of cigs a week.......$60. So, with my current mod fetish, I'm actually saving money, because i've got NICE stuff & my $$ isn't going up in smoke. I mean for less than 150 you can get a Reo Mini.......that's 2 weeks of smoking money right there. The Reo is just an example..........but what about an Xhaler Mini.......they work great, nice inexpensive mod that isn't gonna die like a Riva/Ego. So, in the long run, I DO NOT think that mods are expensive. I look at them rather as a "fine work of art".

I'm fairly intelligent, but wouldn't try my hand at modding anything. My husband is a mechanic & even sometimes he has trouble/glitches when modding. If you know how to solder, cool, the soldering equipment is inexpensive & you can use it to mod MANY things. In fact, one of my Hello Kitty Pez Dispensers is getting modded right now. You also need to be able to understand positive/negative/current/stuff like that "stuff". Now if you are talking VV, then you probably need to understand more. However, why not just drop $100 on an Infinity. This is a NotCigs product (the ORIGINAL VV in vaping), & you can DIAL your way from 3.7 to 6V, not to mention the Infinity is a gorgeous mod.

My husband mods simple stuff for me........mag lite solitare, laser pointer, top fed box mods, bottom fed box mods, regular flash lights. He hasn't specifically "designed" something & put it on a lathe yet. So, it depends REALLY on what YOU WANT........ If you want something REALLY INEXPENSIVE, buy a 510 connection from mad vapes along with a flashlight & have your husband solder the connections........Voila, less than $50 for the mod, proper batteries & charger. If you are gonna start modding, whether it's flashlights or whatever, buy a couple of them.............that way, if you screw up the first one, you've got another one to get right.

One of the better things about having a mechanic as a husband is that even if my vendor mods screw up.........my husband can fix them without me having to send them back to the vendor. Also, with his mod knowledge, he can quickly look at the mod/problem/whatever........diagnose & fix the problem. This is a guy that neither smokes nor vapes............just saw me with my vendor mods & was like "I can make that"...........& I was like "crap, I just spent $200 bucks on this, lol". Then the modding began............

TH does not necessarily depend on juice..............there are many factors that play into TH.

Mods I purchased this week:: another REO grand, and a mini xhaler
Mods on the way to me:: SSGGTS, Xhaler, 2 ScubaGen tanks, 2 more Torpedo tanks
Anxiously awaiting the release of...........GLV v.3 in gloss pink, Infinity Pro, Reo Woodvile Mini,
REALLY want, but can't get my hands on: Precious (I'll take any version & pay the price at this point in time), & AVS

ahhhhhhhhhh, the lovely world of mods...........as I sit at my computer with 3 of them beside me, no real reason, just because I like being surrounded by beautiful things.

cylindrical, penstyle, VV............yep, you want the NotCigs Infinity. They are sold out right now, but the Infinity Pro will be released in just over a month or so. Keep an eye out on the classifieds.

Also, a Prodigy will do 3.7, or 6V depending on your battery configuration, & I KNOW i've seen a few of these in the classifieds lately. This is also cylindrical, penstyle & are in stock at the PureSmoker website. These are also really pretty & built like a dang tank. Last week I dropped mine into a sink full of water............pulled everything out, dried it all off.........put everything back in........yep, it still fires :)

I had never built a mod before... and 2 weeks ago I built a "Puck". It took me a while but was worth it. Great learning experience and way to get my feet wet. If you're interested:
"how to build the puck" http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/106016-how-build-puck.html
or for something more simple:
"how to build the nicostick" or http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/14371-how-build-nicostick.html

I chose to build the chuck because you can buy everything locally at your nearest radio shack ~ even the AAA recharge batteries.
