The tobacco companies did lie..... a long time ago. Certianly through the 50's. 60's and 70's. In the last few decades it has been the anti-tobacco zealots that have done the vast majority of lying. The tobacco companies have been saints compared to what the ALA, ACS, ALA, Tobacco Free Kids, and all the other front groups for BP have been doing. If you are under 50 years old you knew very well that smoking was not good for you health wise.

What the poll really shows is how successful the ANTZ have been in demonizing tobacco companies.

Exactly, Stubby. Amazing that people who were smokers a couple of weeks or months ago now blame tobacco companies for them being smokers in the first place. I need to do yet more research, but so far, I am more appalled over the ANTZ antics than BT, by far.

I trust "big tobacco" just as much as I trust any other large corporation, which is to say not at all. Still, I enjoyed their product for many years, so there's no point hating on them.
