Tobacco flavor

So I tried an experiment yesterday with DIY and cigars. I really would like a vape that tastes like a real cig or a real cigar. This is what I did:

I cut about an inch off the end of one of my favorite cigars. Then, I took a tea bag, emptied out the tea and put the tobacco in the bag and stapled it closed. I then soaked the bag in a mix of VG and distilled water for 24 hours. The liquid wasn't very brown and didn't appear that much of the tobacco had actually gotten into the liquid. So, I then took the container I was soaking it in and put that into a pot of water and let it simmer for a couple hours on low heat. The liquid turned really dark brown and I thought, success! I took some of this liquid and added it to some unflavored TW medium nic juice I have and vaped it. Well...hardly any flavor at all to the vape.

I'm not sure if I just didn't soak the tobacco long enough or what but I was really dissappointed by the outcome. I'm thinking about trying the Snus method next but I don't want to go through the trouble if its going to turn out the same. Has anyone tried a similar method with success?

shreading the cigar and only using pg , maybe a little acholol (drinkable) will work better. Shreading breaks down the tobacco leaf in cigars. that is why snus or skoll works good. Use spice or coffee bean grinder or a blender. No cooking needed.

I did this with 5 snus packets in VG only and after a day or two it came out DARK and is reasonably flavorful.

I did wet the snus packets down with vodka (generic, cheap), not soaked but wet, dumped enough VG on top of it to cover it plus ?1/2? inch and let it sit for a few days (still sitting as I consume it).

Not great, but not bad either.

Thinking about shredding up a couple of cigars and just boiling them in water for a while, straining it, and seeing what happens. Then mix this with PG or VG. Any thoughts on this? Is this just too simple?

Before I started vaping, I picked up a package of American Spirit ORGANIC tobacco, had to be the best tasting tobacco I've tried (analogs 33+ years).

So I decided I wanted the flavor from it, put what I had left in my bag into some vodka, and soaked for about 3 days, came out with a light amber liquid. Added some vg, and cooked off the alcohol and reduced it till it was just vg and flavor. I did get the flavor but a little weak.

So back to the store, bought a whole package, and have been tincturing it for the past 13 days. Tomorrow is the 2 week point (standard base period for tincturing), and I will see what kind of flavor I get. Liquid is much darker already so expect good things.

I'll post an update once it's complete!
