Old people don't like new things
That's hilarious! More invasion of the old fart lawmakers telling everyone else what to do while sliding their hands in someone's pocket for a kick-back. Crooked old codgers, make me want to support physician assisted suicide. I am no longer a smoker, but it is sad how it is o.k., and even cool in some instances to be prejudiced against them. Yea I'll agree Florida sucks, and it is full of old people and tourists. That's why I live in Georgia.

This old person likes new things like computers and vaping. I will refrain from insulting you for the sterotype of age characterizations.

Sterotyping always amazes me, particularly by people from the South, because Southerners are so often the brunt of sterotyping.

(Fellow vapers from Texas and Georgia)

Wow! I am orignally from GA, I am old and I live in one of the most progressive, liberal states, working in a county that has banned vaping anywhere smoking isn't allowed.

Guess that shoots that sterotyped idea out the window lol

Good for you! Ignorance can occur anywhere, even in a "progressive, liberal state".
Stereotypes are just plain BS.

3 or 4 out of a few million doesn't really shoot down the truth. I am older myself and there are the older people who read one report on vaping and regardless of the accuracy and without checking the facts like who paid for the study they take it as gospel and stick by it.

But I think there are a few questions that I really do have....

Why even contact them to begin with?

What are you trying to gain by contacting them.

Don't you think a small army of retired snowbirds could make a bigger impact?

I find it funny how everyone just expects people to be giddy and smitten with your ecig. These people would rather lock you in a room with bread and water until you claim to be smoke free by their standards than let you enjoy anything smoke related. They hate smoke and anything that reminds them of the same.

You're right, Longhaul, but people have been fighting for what they believe and, sometimes, it does have an effect.. Even a cumulative effect over a period of time. At least you know that you've done the right thing.

Well needless to say, they disapprove of vaping, but they wholeheartedly support and promote Big Pharma products like the patch and the gum. They even cited the September 2 report about vaping damaging your lungs.

Well, I rarely post in controversial threads, but feel that I must reply in this one. First off, Tobacco Free Florida (aka Florida Quit Line) were in fact the original source that got me off of cigarettes. The free phone counseling and free patches were just what I needed to start this journey. It is no surprise that TFF disapproves vaping because their goal is to help people overcome addiction to nicotine. Except for the very few of us that vape at 0%, the rest of us are still addicted to nicotine whether we want to believe that or not.

A common stereotype that often comes from people that have visited the Orlando area and think that they have seen ALL of Florida. And because of THAT reason, you chose to live in Georgia !??

Yes, my point is I don't think age has a lot to do with it. In spite of CAASA sending reps to fight the ban here in King Co., Public Health was behind the push to ban vaping and treat it like smoking. Public Health is very powerful in this county and they won. I would guess it wasn't a few older people since the population here is more of the younger or 30ish set. This is Microsoft and Boeing country lol.

I encourage everyone to get involved and support the groups fighting for our rights.

I am actually in that part of the country all the time as my home office is in pacific off of 167. I haven't ever had a problem up there vaping anywhere I go. Even the doctors office let me vape inside when i went to see them.

I get more of the "read/heard that vaping in bad for you" from the younger generations!

    BTW, I'm 65.5 years young...

Good for you, but it is illegal in King Co, anywhere that smoking is not allowed. Has a hefty fine attached, I am thinking they would let you slide since you don't live here and may not 'know' about the ban.

As long as we're sharing our stereotypes here. Here's mine:

Vaping and smoking bans, along with political correctness is a young, liberal, go along with the crowd instead of thinking for yourself, no experience in life yet kinda thing.

Bill of rights, along with an emphasis on basic freedoms, is an older generation thing.

Most of us older folks are shocked daily as we see our rights eroding away faster and faster. We're used to freedom. Younger folks have never experienced freedom for themselves. So, how could they know what they're missing?

I know that's not totally true. But, hey, my stereotypes are just as good as yours! :p

Thanks for informing me but I really didn't know and am going back to pacific tomorrow till Tuesday. I know the whole corner up there is a bit weird about it in Oregon you can't buy them anywhere in the state.
