Too much nic?

Hi All,

I've been smoking for about ten years and for the past two years it has been 20-25 cigarettes a day of 8mg. I'm ready to quit along with my girlfriend and have been reading a lot (she calls me obsessed).
Everywhere i look it says I should start with at least 18mg nic juice. So that's what I did. Ordered a Halo G6 kit with Prime15 juice, but since that was taking a while to arrive I also bought Vision Spinner 1300mAh with protank 2. Since I am in Australia, I cannot get any juice with nicotine locally so I ordered some no nic juice.
My Halo finally arrived and I've tried vapid that since I do need nicotine. I find that the throat hit is just too strong (and prime15 is yuck). I have ordered some 12mg nic juice from the states.
Am I doing something wrong? Using 18mg in a carto is much lighter than the protank but still too harsh for my throat.

I find that the no nic juice just doesn't have enough of a throat hit. Is that directly related to the amount of nicotine? I REALLY want to quit and I hope that the juice from MBV will help. Also, every juice that I've tried that's not based on fruit I think it tastes bad. Is that normal, any other people out there like me?

P. S. When recommending new stuff for smokers, recommend them both a cigalike and a proper battery. Thanks for reading :)

throat hit depends on nicotine and propylene glycol content, the most common pg to vg ratio they sell is 70% pg and 30% vg. 70-30 mix on your 18 mg nic juice and 70-30 on your no nic juice im assuming, if its too harsh for you ya might wanna go to your pharmacy and buy some glycerin, around 6 bucks for 250 ml make sure its usp grade, so you can dillute your juice to lessen the throat hit. also i find that when vaping, the first 5 to 10 drags i do are the harshest, after that about 5 mins it becomes smoother, then after 10 mins the taste of the juice becomes muted,

It's hard to compare nic levels between cigarettes and vaping because nic laden smoke particles actually penetrate the tissues of the lungs and enter your bloodstream quickly. The water droplets in you vapor are too large to enter the alveoli in the lungs and you end up absorbing most of the nic through mucous membranes in the mouth, throat, and sinuses.

Throat hit, as someone just said, is more about nic levels and the PG component of the juice. An all VG juice at high nic levels may be very smooth, while the same nic level in all PG juice will knock your socks off with throat hit. Somewhere in the middle is the sweet spot. Most people settle on 70/30 down to 50/50 PG/VG.

Hello Addy

Fellow Perth-ite here. I bought an e-cig at Whitfords shopping centre - It's called Evovape...probably direct from China. Pen like cigalike, cost way more than it should have *ripped off* but I so want to quit and thought this has to be the way to go! Nothing else has worked...but being in Oz and the no nic legal ....., I find that I am not satisfied. So I research things hard and it's now doing my head in. Got some juice coming in from the states with the nic so can't wait to get my lips around it cos so far Im still sucking the durries! Also ordered No flavor nic PG 36mg now I'm scared .....less I'm gonna poison myself. Been going through all the calculators to avoid this, doing my head in even more.....AArrgh! Have all these cartridges I plan on refilling until I have sucked the life out of them *get my monies worth* Where in Perth can I just buy the juice that I can add the nic to?? A bit worried about putting this product straight in with out diluting!

I'm a fruit freak. The only liquids I use from my main vendors are all fruity, mostly citrusy, with a few that aren't fruity. I use Alice in Vapeland, but I tend to stick to their bakery-ish flavors. At first, I didn't want to have anything except fruits, but I've been surprised I like to vape tea flavored liquid.. I may live in Alabama, but I hate tea.

I'd also look at your coils. The quality of the protank coil, making sure you let it wick by sitting a moment after filling your tank, and the resistance you're using. You may need to raise your resistance. I started out with 1.5 Ohm dual coils, which is 2, 3 Ohm coils, so it produces a cooler vapor than a 1.5 Ohm single coil, and I gradually ended up on 2 Ohm single coils that I use today.

Hmm, I've seen Juice vendors that say 50/50 is most the most requested mix, then some vendors that have the default selection at 80pg/20vg. Suspect it's because that the higher PG ratios are easier to whip up since PG is so much thinner.

I mix my own and prefer 80% VG. Find this a much smoother and enjoyable Vape. Know when I first purchased some juice at 80% PG, that it was harsh and did not enjoy it.. With nicotine, the better the atomizer, the better the nic delivery. Don't really feel that nic content attributes that much as far as harshness of hit is concerned. Since I've been doing rba's I've dropped my nic from 24mg to 18mg and am now at 12mg. Not trying to stop using nic, just the better builds were kicking my azz, so had to drop down my levels of nic.

Thanks everyone. I'm ordering some unflavoured pg and vg and a dripping atty so I can test different variations of nic% vs pg%. I need something that has throat hit and nicotine without me having to be careful of how I inhale (and I've tried different techniques of vaping).

By the way, I'm finding that halo is perfect for everyday vaping while at work or in the city, while the spinner is perfect for at home.

Hi fellow Perth-ite :) I'm not sure what the policy of ECF is on mentioning vendors but I use vape bar, which are in Perth, and you can either have it delivered or you can pick up, or use Vapeking which is a bit cheaper. They both have unflavoured pg and vg.

Hi Addy_AU and welcome to ECF. You can inexpensively buy PG and VG (both USP/ BP/ Food Grade) from your local pharmacy. If they question you about the PG tell them it's needed to make candles or non allergenic soap. VG you'll find in the first Aid Section. Yes it's ok to mention Vendors and if ECF doesn't approve they'll block the link WITHOUT penalty to you.
Enjoy your stay.
