I just tried my first batch of DIY e-liquid and my calculations were checked with the e-juice calculator. Took one hit off of my new tasty e-liquid and got a supreme head rush and overall ill feeling that I used to get if I smoked after not smoking for a long time.

I am using 100mg/ml nicotine from an American company. I will need to get a nic test to see if it is the nicotine or if (as I suspected) the juices I was buying from the vendor have very little nicotine in them. The reason I started to think this is that I swear I received a batch of e-juice that seemed watered down. It ruined three cartos in row and have little flavor and no throat hit whatsoever.

When I first started buying from the vendor the juices I used gave me a little head rush in the morning when I vaped. Then a few shipments later the new juices did not. When I get the nic test I hope I can test both juices- my DIY and the vendor's to see the difference. I will let you all know when I do.

Can you tell what you are doing? How many ml of 100mg nicotine are you mixing into how many ml of juice? What was the level of nicotine in your juice to start. What is the flavor and pg/vg ratio? where did it come from? What battery are you using? How many ohms are you cartos?

We would like to help but we can't do it without some basic information.

Yeah, too much nicotine will do that to you. I just over dosed myself the other day. My stupid mistake in making a test batch of only 20 drops. I dripped my PG from the nic bottle completely. I wouldn't use the word ill, but it was very harsh and made me dizzy from two puffs. Then I realized. This is why I can't see anyone puffing on something with too much nic. You just know, right from the first hit.

Anyhow, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to find out a vendor of e-juice is low balling the nic level. It's a high priced ticket, and supplies seem to dwindling down. At least they are in the form of vendors that I can buy from, vanishing from the marketplace. I'd like to see what your test results come out to as well. I have high hopes that your supply will be just fine.

i bet with using 100mg, the calculator said say for example use 1ml and when first mixing you say "ah hell one or two drops more doesnt make a diiference"..at 100mg, it does make a difference..... like Str8 said cut your mix down to 50mg and try again.

when i vape vendors liquids, i find that their 24mg is like my 18mg..just my own view..the only one that has given me the rush of OP feeling was Dawn @DIYFS, her 26mg is truly 26mg

OMG, I always mix down my high nic to workable proportions and store it safely with a label. I have never directly mixed with 100mg. My target with nic is around 6-10mg, so I premix it to around 12-14mg so I have it available just as it is. As long as my nic is "in my range", I'm good.

Also, I test my nic before any mixing is done to be sure it's reasonable accurate.

Mixing vapable liquid from 100mg base raises several safety concerns and like others have said it is much safer to dilute your base before making a finished liquid. Complete and thorough mixing should be a priority when using 100mg and even more so if you are using any VG at all. VG can be extremely difficult to get fully mixed in.

I wanted a 18mg per ml e-juice with a 80% PG/ 20% VG and I wanted the flavoring to be 20%. I used 5.4 ml of 100mg/ml in PG. I then added 13.8 ml PG and 4.8ml VG. Mixed this and added 6ml of flavoring. I was very careful with my measurements and used medical syringes. Did I make a mistake with my measurements?

The juice is very tasty. I made another batch sans the nicotine and mixed the two together. It is still a little strong for me so I plan on cutting it again.

Thank for the cross check!

Since you did taste it without the nic and say it is still strong give it time to steep on that no nic version and also with a higher PG content you may very well need less than 20 percent flavorings. PG allows flavors through boldy VG mutes flavors. It also depends on the flavorings/company you used as to how strong the mix would be. Some are weaker where others are very potent and even this is subjective.

It could be that the nic level of a commercial juice you were vaping was actually lower than the label. Maybe it said "18 mg" but was only 10 mg. You get used to it, think it's 18 mg, then make a ligit 18 mg juice and wham!

I agree with hoosier as well: test the 100 mg.

Also, do not use drops, especially with 100 mg. Use a syringe. Drop sizes vary quite a lot, and this could make it way too strong.
