I have many many animals to put up on my avatar...maybe one day. I have five cats and they are all rescues. Three are brothers that I have had since they were one day old. Bottle feed them and now they are One year old big babies. 12 rescue ferrets, 2 birds and 6 dogs. Oh and 2 turtles and 5 fish. 8-o OK I know......I like animals.
Wow, 12 ferrets huh!? They are great, even more great if their scent glands have been removed, but that's just me. My mother actually runs a ferret rescue here in the state of Wyoming. It's called "Frazzled Ferret Rescue". She has been at it for 20+ years at least now. While it is called Frazzled Ferret Rescue, she does accept most any other animal as well. Right now she has a few dogs, some ferrets, and squirrels. She would actually kill me right now if she knew i was typing this, as she doesn't ever want me to share she accepts squirrels. I guess it's against game and fish "rules" to have them because as Wader said, they ARE a wild animal.
Squirrels are so difficult to take on though. They have a VERY high anxiety level. So much so, that they can be basically overloaded mentally, and die. Usually by seizure.

I would say out of most of the squirrels she gets, most don't survive. Don't take that the wrong way, she isn't the black widow of animal care, she is actually quite the opposite, kind of a animal whisperer if you will, and with each animal that passes, a little piece of her heart goes with them.
We had always had pets since my birth. I knew at least 30 separate animals quite well over my life. Cats, dogs, squirrels, a badger, yes a badger imagine that, tons of ferrets, even a few i have probably forgotten sadly enough. I would have to say my favorites were the two greyhounds she had. Zina and Maria, sisters, both rescues, and both long ago passed. So human, their features and moods, they were truly the most unique dogs i ever had the joy of loving, and being loved by.
Animals are the most amazing, and unconditional companions we could ever ask for, it's all about love with them, and in a world like we live in today, we need all the love we can get!

You all are great, please, keep sharing your photographs, some really awesome animals we have here!
