It most likely does that because the batteries provide to much power. Im sure you could easily mod it to be USB powered for 5v or change the batteries to four 1.2v recharchables. I will look into it

not a modder at all...so maybe I don't know what I am talking about....how about just using fewer batteries? I would imagine that would be the easiest way to bring the voltage down.
