I stopped vaping and have gone back to cigarettes twice now. Money money money. Each time I went back to cigarettes, I had been vaping for 4 months. Don't expect to quit vaping and not miss the cigarettes.. Vaping is the same motions. If you strip your brain down to its archaic, animalistic nature.. Vaping is still stimulating the same parts of your brain with the same actions and chemical. And I know addiction pretty well. There aint no way that anyone is gonna stop vaping regularly and keep it to the weekends. At least not in 85% of us. Addiction doesn't work that way. You start vaping on the weekends after a month, 5 months, a year of nothing... You'll be vaping every day again within a month. And if you quit vaping and your off of nicotine and you give your stuff away or the batteries die (like mine have.. twice) your smoking again.

My intent is to quit smoking using vaping to wean off until i quit that also .
I totally get how much more beneficial vaping is to smoking but is it also hard to quit vaping ?
That was my original intent but decided to continue vaping, I enjoy it and it is of the least destructive habits I have had. T

I vape because I need to. After 35 years of smoking and smoking 2 packs a day vaping is an absolute need. Yes, you trade one habit for another, but it's healthier. Yes, I still want to smoke, and I do, when I'm stressed. But I hope this in time will pass. Thing is, if you want to vape 0mg go ahead. I prefer to be addicted to vaping and not to alcohol.

Suzaz, do you like catching a nicotine buzz? this is something thats always eluded my mind.. I never smoked for the buzz or the high. I never ever felt a buzz or a high. I smoked because I was addicted. I smoked because I was addicted to the smoke in the air, the plume, the smell, the taste, the look, the feel, the cotton, the moments of our lives... (wait.. what? ahem...) I mean I did smoke 2 cigs in the morning, 1 after the other, to wake my head up. I always felt foggy. (probably a result of nic withdrawal in the first place lol) but I never, ever, ever felt a buzz from smoking.. Thats always been something I regret. I regret smoking so much that I didn't even enjoy the effects. I know a lot of people that have said this though, so I thought it was completely normal. No one I know caught a buzz. Not even in the morning. Not ever. Just the sheer relief of getting to have a cig after a long days work was my buzz. do you agree?

The effect I had with cigarettes was soothing. Sometimes it was a relaxing aid. I'm not getting that from vaping. I never felt buzz or energized, just relaxed. I sometimes smoked out of boredom, and it consumed itself on the ashtray.

OP, for me personally, I had a rough few weeks in the beginning when i was making the switch. Used to be if i went out and forgot my cigarettes I'd need to pick up another pack. Nowadays, if the battery i have dies halfway down the road, it's not a big deal. The desire to vape isn't anywhere near as urgent as the desire to smoke ever was. I can say with reasonable certainty that while I would miss it I could quit vaping without too much distress. I'd have to do it cold turkey, though, because I'm reasonably sure that attempting to "wean" would turn me into one of those people who suck down 15ml of 4mg a day versus three at 24.

I like to dabble in writing contemporary pulp space opera (the genre is my handle name), and I used to have a lot of characters who smoked (as a throw-back to old pulp characters from the 30's-50's). Now, I've switched them all to vapes! It is so right up my alley with the high-tech look, feel, and concept.

I built my avatar a simplistic electronic cigarette in secondlife for a cyberpunk roleplay, so this made me smile.

What difference does it make? The important thing is that you are NOT smoking. You have traded a harmful habit for one not so harmful. You have traded a VERY expensive habit for one not so expensive. You have traded a VERY offensive habit for one not so offensive.
So what difference does it make?

Well I have no intention of quitting vaping soon. But I can go Hours with out Vaping with no significant with drawl. Its not the same as with cigs a plane ride or wrok with out vaping is no big deal. So just guessing Id say Vaping would be easier but Ive spent way to much money to even think about quitting! ;-)

Well when vaping the only active compound is Nicotine. But when smoking there is literally a myriad of component compounds that get smoked up too and help out your addiction in the wrong direction. Some analysis show that some of 'these chemicals' are indeed some of the chemicals added by Big Tobacco during manufacture. Belief it or not the plant produces some very mild MAOI that actually helps the action of nicotine on the human brain.

I've read a number of your posts and it seems to me you often treat your experiences as the norm.
But from what I can see your experiences often seem to be more of an exception.

Regardless, one thing I've learned here is that everyone is different.
One size does not fit all when it comes to why we smoked, or what it takes to quit.

Have you not heard of WTA juice? It might be just what you need.

Actually only part of this is true. Nicotine is only one chemical in a slew of others that you put into your body when you smoke a cigarette. How many of those other chemicals are nearly as addictive as nicotine? Thats where the urges and cravings come from even when your using a PV and its why Whole Tobacco Additives were formulated for e-juices,to ease those cravings.

Using a big battery mod replaces some of the hand-to-mouth that we experienced with cigarettes because its different.People using cig-alikes might experience some problems with this but I dont imagine it will affect the majority of us and if it does it only takes 2 weeks to to stop that kind of habit.

With all due respect it sounds like your negativity is holding you back from quitting more than anything else and I agree with others posting here that vaping is an extremely useful tool for those of us who "want" to quit.

Yes. I started vaping to stay off cigarettes. I've stayed off cigarettes and enjoy vaping. Last thing I want to do is start hand wringing over vaping. My doctor is thrilled I'm vaping and not smoking. And so am I.

This is exactly my position, kiwivap! My health is so much better now that I've been off stinkies for a year! I don't really intend to quit vaping and don't really care if I've traded one habit for another.
