My hubs did the Atkins diet twice in the past and lost lots of weight each time and his cholesterol went down. He loves bacon and eggs so he didn't have a real hard time, he did miss bread lots though
The wife and I did the Atkins diet hard back when it first started.
It worked very well for weight loss, and my good cholesterol went up and bad went down.
But back then, since it was a "fad" there were lots of low-carb products and that made it easier.
But it is a hard diet to continue indefinitely, and more so now that it is no longer a fad.
The bread is the thing here.
At least for me anyway.
The wife and I do Weight Watchers now for the most part.
And that works too, but not quite as well.
So when we want to drop a quick 5 pounds in a week, we go back to low-carb.
We generally start a week before Thanksgiving, or a week before Christmas, or a week before vacation.
This way of living works very well, and suits us.
Especially since a week is about all I can tolerate on the low-carb diet without the low-carb products.
A person can only eat so much butter, bacon, cheese, and steak.
Just my pennies.
