vaping is really starting to take off around the circle of friends I hang out with and I've noticed a couple of things that I thought were quite interesting considering that the typical reason to start vaping is to quit analog cigarettes.

I was a pack a day American Spirit's smoker. Originally I was a pack a day Marlboro Mediums smoker but I switched to American Spirits based off of a recommendation from a friend that said that most people are switching to American Spirits with the hopes of quitting because it doesn't have all the additives that comes in traditional cigarettes.

When I first started vaping, I was able to make the transition relativity easy from analog cigarettes without any major issues. Four days into vaping, I had one American Spirit and it was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted and I haven't looked back since. My last analog as on August 9, 2012 and I've been smoking since 1992.

I noticed this with my other friends as well. My friends that smoked American Spirits have been able to make the successful transition to vaping without any issues at all.

However, my friends that smoke Marlboro's or even Camel's haven't been as successful in quitting analog's. They still vape and smoke at the same time.

This might not be the case overall but if you are having issues making the transition over from analog's to e-cigs; why not switch to American Spirits? Try them out for a while and give it some time to get you off of all of the additives that come in a Marlboro or Camel cigarette. This should hopefully make the transition over to vaping much easier.

Interesting observation and concept. I smoked 30+ years, always a menthol. Tried the gum, patch, Welbutrin, even hypnosis. Nothing worked for long.

When I started vaping, I allowed myself 3-4 analogs a day, mostly in the evening as I wasn't able to smoke at work. I noticed each day of vaping a progressive dissatisfaction of the cigarettes, and when my last pack was done, so was I.

I can't say that I've wanted a real cigarette since, aside from one experience when I was totally out of charged batteries. It happened about 3 weeks into vaping. I went into a nic attack while waiting for a battery to recharge and made a 3 minute drive to the mini-mart for my old Marlboro Menthols. Only had one, and it almost made me sick. Literally threw the pack away and haven't touched a cigarette since. About 7 months and counting, not counting the one setback.

I actually prefer vaping over smoking now. The variety of flavors, ability to vape almost anywhere - even to stealth vape where you wouldn't even try with smoking. My home, my car, my clothes, ME, no longer smells like an ashtray.

i couldn't put the analogs down for a while...it was force of habit to buy a pack and just...have them. especially while driving, because that's when i smoked the most. but i finally found the right juices for me, and the right setup(s)...and i got so much more pleasure out of vaping then smoking, i eventually said "the hell with it", when i realized that i couldn't even finish a cigarette anymore. now i'm vaping exclusively, for over a month. i don't plan on going back to analogs as long as backwoods brew keeps making casablanca, 555 exotic, hunter's blend, and the good ol' regular 555. and if they do stop making it, i'll find something else. there's always halo tribecca, and in a pinch, a good ry4 will do!

I smoked marlboro milds ( a lite menthol taste) about a pack a day. I bought one of the disposable e-cigs at the local QuickTrip where I bought my ciggies and started smoking it in between packs. About that time, I figured out you could buy a rechargeable one at Walgreens, so I quit date on Jun.15.12 ... Haven't looked back since. I had an incident like the person above and went to the store while the damn battery was charging. But they had a disposable e-cig, so I bought that instead... I smoke those little things up until a couple weekends ago. I wish I had purchased a PV much earlier, as I ended up spending $225 on cartridges and had to have a couple batteries as they are so small on their mAh...

I went from analog-lookalikes to the forerunner of the Ego system (510 refillable tank atomizers) and used those until I started with rebuildables last year. Ashamed to say I did cheat once in awhile until I got a DID earlier this year. Since then no cheating and no interest at all in doing so. I do have a nice collection of rechargable batteries though ;-)

That was my experience. I smoked American Spirit 100% organic and rolled my own. I started my brother on vaping, but first transitioned him to this practice 2 months before he started vaping. There are way less chemicals and also, rolling has a way of slowig you down anyway, since the convenience of grabbing an analog from a pack as well as the unconcious thought that often happens with doing that, makes you smoke more I thought.

Hey, whatever works. I had already been so out of the habit of buying "packs" of pre-rolled analogs by the time I started vaping, I think that really helped me a lot, that and the lesser chemical load.

Also, to toot my own post, but this:

Really, READ IT.

In regards to traditional analogs and the chems they contain...
scientists did a study whereby they fed nicotine to Rats and then placed a bowl of nic juice in the corner of the cage. The Rats did NOT self medicate. They then added alkoids to the nic juice, got the rats addicted to this mixture and placed a bowl in the corner- the Rats made a beeline for the new mixture and immediately began self medicating. All these toxic chems in analogs is to merely addict as many as possible in the most severest of terms. I look back and realize I was NOT smoking tobacco but ingesting a toxic and very addictive cocktail of chemicals via the carrier known as tobacco. BT merely used the legal form of tobacco to feed it's consumers drugs and crap that otherwise would've have NEVER been permitted or tolerated by health authorities.

I smoked Newports for almost twenty years. Switched to Marlboro Menthol Smooth and smoked those for eleven years. I think motivation is a stronger factor in whether or not a person can successfully switch from analogs to vaping. I really, really wanted to quit, but like the first post on here, nothing helped.

I bought my first electronic cigarette on October 31st, 2011. I smoked my last analog cigarette on October 31, 2011 too lol...tried a couple of puffs on friends' regular cigarettes between now and then and discovered I don't even miss the damn things. They taste like ***t. No more.

I was a strict Marlboro Man and still have the odd one after 3 months of vaping, but they taste worse every time. Can't get through more than half a stinky these days and I'm sure I'm not far off being incapable of taking a drag. Until then, I'm happy with having cut down from 30 or more a day to 1 every few days. Vaping rooooocks!
