10:53AM 39 hours with only snus for nicotine, working great so far and no urge for cigarettes

bought 2 new General White Portion Mint and 2 General White Portion dry mini Mint locally plus 10 trial packs for $20.63

i figured that buying just 10 cans would cost me $10 more if i bought them from Northern

James

August 03 smoked 00 cigs, 40 less than my usual 40 cigs a day 3198 cigarettes not smoked in 92 days by using Stonewall, Joye 510, Hello 016, Ken's BoxMod, MadVapes 2xAA Box mod, WetBox Vaporizer (ecig) and 19 bottles of ejuice partially used , $0.28 per cig X 3198 Cigs = $895.44 diverted from cigarettes to Vaporizer (ecig). OMG I have spent over $2025.59 in 92 days on this stuff but bare in mind that my old cigarette cost was $330 a month

That's great jamesam. Snus really does the trick for alot of us. I still vape some and use a little nasal snuff but snus is definitely the staple for me that keeps the urges away. It's nice that you were able to find a local seller of general. I am still looking for one that is listed on the site that actually carries it in stock.

11:00 tried snus, my gumms hurt and i feel a little sick to my stomach

does this take some getting use to? reminds me of chewing tobacco that removed the lining of my mouth

    Jame,
I wanted to like the Swedish Snus . I sampled about 8 different kinds and just couldn't buy the taste. I went with Camel and Marlboro Snus. as another post said, they are much sweeter, for me more palatable. The Swedish Snus has this distinct under flavor that I couldn't even try to get along with. If you already haven't, try the two brands. Snus really gets me through the times when I crave analogs. That with a strong tobacco juice. Good luck.

    August 5

68 hours with only snus for nicotine, working great so far and no urge for cigarettes but this Swedish snus really doesn't taste too good to me

i am reluctant to be too enthusiastic about snus, my powers of belief have been severely damaged during this 3 month "stop smoking" ordeal. my faith has been replaced by only hope

my failed "only ecigs" experiment lasted 3 weeks before failing

my failed "only Stonewall" experiment lasted 8 days before failing

my present "only snus" experiment started August 02 so only 4 days old

so for me it is just wait and see i guess, not a real enthusiastic attitude and i like to be
    enthusiastic about my endeavors.

August 04 smoked 00 cigs, 40 less than my usual 40 cigs a day 3238 cigarettes not smoked in 93 days by using Stonewall, Joye 510, Hello 016, Ken's BoxMod, MadVapes 2xAA Box Mod, WetBox Vaporizer (ecig) and 19 bottles of ejuice partially used , $0.28 per cig X 3238 Cigs = $906.64 diverted from cigarettes to Vaporizer (ecig). OMG I have spent over $2025.59 in 92 days on this stuff but bare in mind that my old cigarette cost was $330 a month, using snus right now ( General White Portion Mint )

the general mini mint that i just bought says it expired on 05 18 2010, i called the tobacco shop and they replied that they just got it in and that it should be ok, but merchants have been known to lie when it is to their advantage at times. :)

James, why are you limiting yourself to one thing only? I think it may be a mistake. I use them all, all the time. I use snus for my "what's missing" needs, I use dissolvables for variety and speed of delivery, and I vape for my hand to mouth fixation, you know, muscle memory, blowing smoke thingy. I don't think I would survive a day on only one of them.

Use them all, have fun. And don't overanalyze things. If you tell yourself things don't work, they won't work. A huge part of the cigarette addiction is purely psychological. Just allow yourself some time to develop new habits and new behaviors. It's going to happen, but it takes time.

    Good luck.

Snus doesn't really expire. Just spray it with some water if it feels dry and put it in the fridge. Or add a slice of apple to the can and let it sit in the fridge for 24 hours.

i do vape while using snus but i only vape 0 mg ejuice, i am of the opinion that the nicotine is way out of balance in ejuice, also i am trying to increase my uptake of "those missing elements" and Stonewall was not doing it for me. i feel that the nicotine in ejuice and using Stonewall may reduce the effective level of what i am seeking.

That's fine. Whatever floats your boat, you know. We're all different. I use low nic e-liquids (12-15 mg) and it works for me. Remember, that nic content stated on your juice is just a number. We're actually getting only a small fraction of that. How small? Nobody knows, but I've seen estimates of about 10% or less. If 0 nic works, by all means, stay with it.

Hi James :). As food for thought to your quest for what some normal folks call "sanity" (I've read about 'em), I'll add that the good medicine in the snus is relative to the strength. The higher the nicotine content, the more potent effect the associated alkaloids have. The percentage stays the same so a higher nic snus also brings a higher portion of those much sought after maoi's. Hence my usage of extra stark snus. In my past life I've been prescribed several different antidepressants (never to be repeated) and a day of heavy dosing with strong Swedish snus has the same effect without the side-effects. Early on I had to cut down on the amount of snus I used because I became too mellow to have any drive. I'm better balanced now using 4 16-18mg snus per day, on average, and vape less than 1/2 ml of 36mg liquid for the stimulus effect. Generally speaking, Katya says it right. For the large majority of us, a combo of things work together to replace the smokes and still keep our lids on. Snus, PV's, snuff, dissolvables...all or in part. I've said many times that a cigarette was the perfect drug for anxiety and depression. They picked us up when we need picked up and calmed us down when we were anxious, excited or just needed to focus. None of these safe alternatives stand alone to replicate that. Some conditions or moods I can deal with ok, but some my body won't chemically make those adjustments for. Enter snus and PV for me; snus only for Stubby; snuff and PV for Wiz; snus, snuff and PV for hittman, all the above for Tropical Bob........ And one tends to learn a lot about themselves during this quest. Hang in there, bud :).

ok, Katya and TWISTED VICTOR win, PV + snus + maybe Stonewall

76 hours with mostly snus for nicotine + PV @ 24mg (Katya + TV think that i should mix things up a little), working great so far and no urge for cigarettes but General snus really doesn't taste that good and i am getting a sore in my mouth where a bad tooth rubs against my cheek from exclusively snusing

    James

August 05 smoked 00 cigs, 40 less than my usual 40 cigs a day 3278 cigarettes not smoked in 94 days by using Stonewall, Joye 510, Hello 016, Ken's BoxMod, MadVapes 2xAA Box Mod, WetBox Vaporizer (ecig) and 19 bottles of ejuice partially used , $0.28 per cig X 3278 Cigs = $917.84 diverted from cigarettes to Vaporizer (ecig). unfortunately i have spent $646 per month on this stuff and i make less than $960 per month, this has got level out soon, but i should have enough ecig stuff to last at least 4 months which may even things out.. i can't afford to quit right now

It takes time. Move your snus pouch to the other side of your mouth, switch to Stonewalls for a while, and hang in there. It's worth it. Anything but cigarettes. BTW, you can't afford to quit it now!:D

i really doubt that the 5 cigs per day is a big deal compared to my regular habit of 40 cigs a day

i just ordered $80 worth of CigRX ( 3 cartons ) i will see what they are like

jamesam, I think that from 40 to 5 is a huge accomplishment. Congratulations! It took me a long time from the time I started vaping to quit smoking and then a couple months in started smoking a little to combat the depression that had seem to set in on me. It was around then that I was led to the smokeless section by a few of the great members here. I have had some slips here and there but don't get as down on myself if/when it happens. I just hop back on the wagon and try to do better the next time. It is a long journey for each of us to find what works for us to keep the beast away and I am sure that you will find what works for you.

That's right James, you've come a long way from where you were. That's a positive no matter how you look at it. Personally, even though I'm successful with snus and PV, I still have a pack of smokes in my truck so I don't take a chance of freaking out. Having 'em there is part of it for me. Somehow, I find it's easier to decide I don't want one as long as they're available. And I can't say I blame you on the taste. I don't like any General brand snus, but some folks feel it's not real snus if it's not General. General has its own distinctive taste. I don't like salty snus either. Everybody says you get used to it, usually by the first 2 weeks, but I never gave it a chance. I guess it's best to find out what works, then figure out the most pleasant way to get it. Here's one you may find interesting: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/smokeless-tobacco/96276-snus-best-worst.html

Hey guys! I just picked up two cans of General White Portion unflavored, and i have to say... I LOVE this stuff. Flavorless except for a teeny bit of salt, with the nice mellow burnination of the nicotine seeping into my system. Along with my PV that showed up today, i think this will be the perfect combination for me, 1.5 PAD marlb "gold pack".

My plan so far is to use the snus in the morning with my coffee, along with some vaping, and then after meals.

That pretty much works for me. I've gotten pretty regular at four portions a day- morning, lunch time, dinner and before bedtime (give me that nice mellow dreamy drift off). But if I decide to throw and extra one or two in some days, no big deal. I'm only vaping on an off at this point and mostly for the flavor.

I like the White, but heck, I still haven't found any I disliked except Marlboro.
