I just received my new extra Triton tank (It's my third), but something is different:

The thread on the tip, is shorter. It used to take 3 1/2 turns to thread the tip on, now it takes less than one.

I thought it was just an anomaly, until I looked at the matching threading, inside the tank: In the old model, the thread runs all the way down to the plastic. In the new model, the threading only runs for 2 1/2 turns, then it's flanged (i.e. stopper).

That's right; the old tip on the new tank, leaves a (small but noticeable) gap.

I checked to see if the tips were interchangeable, but I wasn't able to come to a conclusion; the tip may, or may not, form a seal with the top of the atomizer assembly.

Has anyone else had better luck?

It's not actually a new rev. It's simply the result of QC and how these tanks/tips are made in the factory (multiple factorys). This issues also includes the Kanger T2 which exhibits the same traits which you describe. My conclusion is based on a universe of over 30 tanks across the Triton line and the Kanger T2. It's a random issue so a given order for either kind of tank may contain a mixture.

The other issue germane to what you describe is that tips sometimes have a small number of threads and others have more threads.

In a nutshell, some tips screw in farther than others but still seal.

The 2 that came with my initial kit back in May are different than the ones I ordered like a month later, for a total of 5. I'm certain that by now, through the cleaning processes that the moutpieces from one set went onto another without issue, or if there was an issue that I am forgetting then it was basically: rinse, change to other tank.
