I'm not sure if this is the right place for this.... Yesterday I had to print a return shipping label on USPS.com, to return a starter kit, to a vendor. It had a 15ml bottle of juice, along w all the usual stuff batts, etc... When I tried to pay & print the label online, the address of the vendor was automatically flagged and told me I had to bring the package in for inspection. I thought it was due to batts. At the PO the guy was like what is this? I showed him my eGo in my pocket and said it was a similar device. He was like no tobacco products. So after a couple minutes of me explaining what it was he had to go ask the postal god in the back room. He came back and confirmed that it was only a device with no tobacco, and processed it without opening it.
Is this the next step? When the FDA lumps us in w tobacco products, it will be illegal to mail juice w nic in it? Should we be stockpiling nic for diy before they just completely cut us off? How many of you who are well informed on the status of the banning of nic juice are already doing this?
Thoughts?
Thanks

The reasons you can't ship tobacco products easily has to do with the different state taxation levels. There are crime syndicates that traffic cigarettes across state lines (i.e. buy cigs in low tax states and sell in high tax ones, and pocket the difference). So long as we remain a non-taxed product at the state level, we should be fine. That's why it's absolutely crucial that we fight tooth and nail any attempts to be taxed like traditional tobacco products, it's not just about the price increases.

USPS will not ship cigarettes or smokeless tobacco. Liquid containing nicotine is considered a tobacco product; not sure how this is affected.

The following is from the link you provided (TY):
Qualifying exceptions include…
Certain Age-Verified Individuals -
Infrequent, lightweight shipments mailed by age-verified adults.

Now given the fact that a lot of vendors ship via first class, the following, IMO, implies that we are not considered smokeless tob, or they would all have to be priority at a minimum :
With the exception of shipments entirely within Alaska and Hawaii and to APO/FPO/DPO addresses, all excepted shipments of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco must be sent via the following options:

  1. Express Mail® Hold For Pickup
  2. Express Mail with Adult Signature Required or Adult Signature Restricted Delivery extra service (Adult Signature Restricted Delivery only for the "Consumer Testing" exception). Available for online and commercial customers only; however, shipment must be presented to a USPS employee at a Post Office.
  3. Priority Mail® with Adult Signature Required or Adult Signature Restricted Delivery extra service (Adult Signature Restricted Delivery only for the “Consumer Testing” exception). Available for online and commercial customers only; however, shipment must be presented to a USPS® employee at a Post Office.

I'm thinking that due to the fact that the clerk said to me "I've never seen one of these", that says, as far as USPS is concerned, They also dont quite know what to consider us. Were in that grey area.

oh boy. That stinks. This is really annoying. Several years ago before e cigs really hit the market there were news clips about them touting them as a possible godsend for smokers. Now they are everywhere and have helped many people quit are a whole lot safer and they want to restrict that, wtf. I am so mad.
