Propylene glycol isn't really used in anti-freeze, the good doctor is confused (which probably comes from practicing medicine well past the age where in other more reputable professions, such as oh, janitorial duties, one would be forced to retire) the stuff in anti-freeze is Ethylene glycol. Propylene glycol can be used in some systems where ethylene glycol can't be used such as where it would come in contact with food or even IN food. The FDA recognizes propylene glycol as generally safe. In the future, I wish these news agencies would conduct interviews with people who have done at least as much research as it takes to hit Wikipedia.

great job krakkan, the doctor ...... me off with the anti-freeze comment. They should have had a list of safe things PG is used in to combat that terrible slander of my beloved PG

Yeah I tried to come prepared for whatever but seems no matter what they will find something to spin around

To Hell with it attracting kids, what are kids attracted to swisher sweets, fruity flavored cigars, fruity energy drink witch by the way landed my 16 yr old in the hospital for overdosing. Most kids dont have hundreds of dollars laying around to purchase e cigs, they would rather buy clothes and put gas in there cars. this **** out rages me. I have finally quit smoking with these and my kids are vary proud and supportive. Just my 2 cents. i month 2 wks smoke free.

Agreed. Those stupid energy drinks are this young generation's cigarette, much more than PVs could ever be. When I started smoking, I started when cigs were cheap and readily available (kind of like energy drinks are now.)

Why would any kid pay $40 + shipping for an e-cig when they could spend 60 cents on a pack of jolly ranchers? If the kid isn't addicted to nicotine in the first place, I'd think the candy would make much better economical sense.

I saw it. When the doctor could only use "anti-freeze" as an example... it sort of ticked me off. Then when he said he was worried about how it pollutes the air... it DID tick me off!

Ditto Angl.... I was thinkin "Geez! This guy has no idea what an e-cig is and he is their "Professional with a counterpoint?!?!?" I guess the comon notion that an educated person is an intelligent person is proven wrong yet again.

BTW Krakkan, I gotta give you folks that appeared in this story alot of respect and appreciation! All of ya were great ambassadors of our community! Intelligent, well spoken, well versed on the topic and above all....Truthfull !!!

As a member of this community and a Vaper, I'm sure I am not alone in saying... Thanks for doing a damn fine job representing Me, And my desire to continue using e-cigs/PV's in my quest to stay away from analogs.

On the contrary!!Propelyne Glycol IS USED in anti freeze.Go to an auto parts store and checkout some R/V antifreeze. It is used in R/V water lines to keep them from freezing over the winter. The bottle will say however that it is non-toxic.So you dint have to really worry about flushing out the system too much or worry about it contaminating your water supply with minimal use.
If you have used deoderant you have probably had a higher dosage of pg from Gillette than E-Cigs.Oh crap the F.D.A is gonna go after Gillette now.Damn it!!

Exactly,,, the Dr's analysis of both eCigs and antifreeze are flawed. I wonder if propylene glycol anti freeze had as many "expert" detractors as eCigs have? There probably wasn't as much money in the anti-antifreeze coffers as anti-smoking people get.

Thanks. That was me with my FrankenPipe and demonstrating the 103. JD did an awesome job giving her good info, the station just cut most of out. I liked how the interview went overall and after watching it a few times, I'm happy with it. I knew they would find an opposng viewpoint, I'm glad the doctor was a little uninformed, he could have been a much worse opponent.

So that's what you look like JD ;)

Overall, I think it was a very good piece. Now, it is apparent that the "doctor" they used is clueless. "I think propylene glycol is the main ingredient in anti-freeze." Yes... well we all want to know what you think... What about what you know?

And the eSmokers... good job guys because you just clearly showed that this is definitely a viable option for smokers and that leaving the tobacco behind CAN be done...

.

I maintain that the really dangerous ingredient is dihydrogen monoxide! Look at the stuff its used in dangerous solutions, contaminates sewage, and over consumption can lead to illness, injury or death.

And some people practically bathe in the stuff (I know I do.):D

I'm so sick of so-called medical authorities that demonize an ingredient because its also an ingredient in something else. Something mysterious and scary.

Looked at my emergency inhaler this morning. In the inactive ingredients: water, propylene glycol.
