Posted a variant of this question in a sub section and got no response, but would really like an answer.

I have been vaping for 5 weeks now and loving it, not touched a cigarette for the longest time since I was 12, after a fair bit of research bought a mini VGO 400 mah manual starter kit from Home page (cant make link work), loved it was so happy I shortly after bought the 650 vv from them, then bigger Nova tanks with long wicks. The vaping is so so good I can sit in an empty room with no music, tv or books and just vape, like mental future hobbit. Have become such a convert have now bought the starter kit for 3 friends. Bearing in mind how satisfied I am and that I have a vv device, apart from longer battery life, what extra will i get in my vaping experience if i buy something like a vamo. I ask because budget is tight and dont want to fork out on new kit just to replicate the same experience I am already getting.

I replied in the vv subforum and I'll expand a little bit here.

One thing you will get going to the vamo per se is more advanced control modes, in particular the variable power mode (variable wattage) is a big difference from what you are using. With VW you set the wattage to a certain number and the device detects the resistance of the atomizing device attached, and sets the voltage automatically so you get a consistent watt output. It is an easy one-shot setting and can help you compare and tune devices a little more easily. Most of the devices you are looking at would offer extended voltage range (up to 6v) and most likely extended power range as well (15w stated, but the real limitation of many of these devices is current limit, and those larger devices generally can handle more current than small ego-type devices).

Also I believe the device you are using now is a pushbutton-type VV meaning it has several discrete voltage levels, usually 4 or so; the more advanced APV would have finer adjustments (0.1v or 0.5w perhaps). That would help you fine-tune your vape more.

In the end I would not be surprised if you found the bigger APV more "powerful" feeling, since the very high end of power handling on your current device is more in the middle of the range for the APVs you are looking at. So even at the same wattage equivalency, the larger APV may seem more steady and reliable in producing vapor.

Thanks that is exactly the answer I was looking, you were correct in your assumptions about my vv device, and what i really wanted to know wasbeven ifni can produce the same wattage by changing coils etc on mine, will there still be a qualitive in vapour on the bigger devices, which you Say there will. many thanks, ecf users are a very helpful bunch,
