First, thanks to all who posted in my last thread! I've spent the last week placing orders and trying suggestions. Most of my stuff hasn't come in, but I do have a little to report.

Choking / Coughing (and flavor!):
The thing that has helped most, is learning to better control the vapor. I've really gotten the hang of how to inhale into my mouth first, and to control the amount I'm getting in a drag. This has really helped with the choking and coughing. I still choke, but not as much. I think I was just trying to pull too much down at once. Silly, I know. Also, I let some vapor out of my mouth and take it in through my nose too. This allows me to smell it and has really enhanced the flavor (thanks to dormouse for this suggestion!!!)

Boge 510 Cartomizers and Drip Tips:
I checked out some reviews and videos on these, and everyone had great things to say. I got a pack of 5 in yesterday. It has now been 24 hours and, well, I don't know. I was really excited about these! They promised to be all that and more, but I have mixed feelings about them. First the good... The vapor is warmer, and feels more like an analogue. They're easy to fill -- no more fluffing the filler, wiping off the cart, getting liquid on my hands and in my mouth, etc. They last a really long time and don't dry out easily, so no more burnt taste, but... its not all good. The vapor production isn't as good as my 510 atty+cart, and (the really surprising part) the flavor isn't as good either. The flavor is there, but its like the volume is turned down. It's hard to explain. I really thought these would rock... This may be crazy, but based on all the good I've heard, could these be fake Boge Cartomizers? There is no label or logo on anything, so how would I know? I did order from a forum supplier, and no I won't say who, but I'd think I could trust them. Maybe I just got sent the wrong ones? Is there any way to tell? Maybe they are Boge, but just a bad batch? I just really expected more from these. I've actually gone back to using my atty+cart. :(

What is on the way:
I ordered a bunch of stuff. From LitecigUSA, I have several Dekang liquids coming to me: Flue Cured Tobacco, DK-TAB, RY4, and Kamel Turkish Blend/Desert Ship, all in 16mg strength. I believe these are all 100% PG too, and I'm pretty excited about them. My favorite liquid so far is Camtel by FSUSA, so from them I have order a variety of blends of Camtel to test the PG/VG stuff. I ordered 80pg/20vg, 0pg/100vg, 100pg/0vg, and another 80/20 but with "extra flavor". I also got a couple more attys and carts from them and an automatic 510 battery, which I am just curious to try out. I figure it might feel closer to analogues, which might help me switch.

Any thought or suggestions on any of this would be appreciated!

For those that haven't (or don't want to) ready my last thread, here is recap:
My last thread was about my general trouble getting vapping to be satisfying. I have a 510 manual, a PCC, a bunch of carts and liquid samples. The issues I covered were Flavor (all liquids taste sweet), Nic Strength (12mg not satisfying, 24mg too strong), and Choking on the vapor (Throat hit?).

There was a lot of response, so much so that I took some time to summarize the suggestions and highlight the most popular ones. They were:

For Flavor:
- VG is sweeter than PG, so try an 80pg/20vg blend.
- Try DK-Tab
- Boge 510 Cartomizers (standard resistance / with a drip tip for easy refilling)

For Nic Strength:
- Try 18mg

For Choking and Coughing:
- Inhale into mouth and control the vapor

Again, if you want more detail, you can find the thread here:

Boge carto box will say 510D on the top flap. The cartomizer itself will have silver threads. Keep trying with them. Once in awhile, I get a box that has to be broke in. Basically, the cartomizer will increase in vapor and flavor the more you use it. Hope this helps.

Yep... It says 510D on the top flap. Otherwise a plane white box. And the cartos do have silver threads. Must be the real deal. Thanks! So do they just need to be "broken in" or something?

Yes, it takes a while for the juice to soak through to the heating elements. Cartos will mute flavor, as opposed to using an atty, but it is much easier and more consistant than cartridges. You might want to double up on your flavor, or use stronger flavored juice (cinnamon, menthol).

I used 2ohm cartos on an eGo, and was fairly happy with the combination, but I vape VaporBomb Fire n Ice. When I decided I needed something easier than smoking, and with excellent flavor, I went with a REO. The bottom feeders/juice boxes allow you to get the flavor of dripping along with being even easier than cartos/tanks.

On 510 you need the standard resistance Boge cartos (not LR or HV). On the first fill I try to get at least 18 drop sin (I press a tissue on the threaded end hole to prevent leaking). They are 1ml capacity cartos and 18-24 drops is an ml. Then I do the cleanup then let it lay for 15-20 min to really distribute the liquid to every bit of stuffing to make sure I do not singe the carto because that will add a charred taste to your flavors. For the same reason, I keep them damp. And note - be sure to shake your juice bottle before putting juice in the carto.

I am getting nice flavor when they are new. And I love the convenience and the ability to totally and quickly switch flavors.

Since we're on the topic of cartomizers... are these the right ones for a Riva 510 model PV? New to vaping and just about to get my first one in the mail (hopefully within the hour) so not too sure... lol

BreezEsmokes - Premium Electronic Cigarettes

You would probably like a low resistance better: BreezEsmokes - Premium Electronic Cigarettes

If you aren't ordering other things from that vendor, you can get the Boge 2 ohm cartos cheaper on lots of sites. For example: http://www.liberty-flights.com/product.asp?id=72 plus 20% off.
