For me I didn't think about making it through the day, rather making it through my triggers.

I would fight the urge to smoke when:
Waking up
Before sleep
After a meal
Drinking liquor
When mad/upset
While driving
And when bored

I'd try and find something else to do even if it wasn't vaping, to remove the thought. A lot of the times I'd find myself here reading threads sometimes for hours, there are some good threads here.
Before I even bought the e cig I found it felt very heavy just thinking about quitting a day at a time, but I knew I could beat it if I thought about it in terms of battles within the war.
After a couple weeks the urges went away, I still get it from time after a meal or when hanging with friends who smoke or puff cigars, but I just put the thought out and keep it movin'. Gets easier everyday.

Chain vaping at 18mg got me through the first few weeks as a pack and a half smoker.. About to hit a year cig free now. I'm at 6mg now, but I still chain vape, lol. Can't help it..I love it and I don't feel bad about it either. Feeling anxious is normal, but rest assured you'll soon agree that switching to vaping is the best thing you've ever done for yourself.

So I think the only way I dropped the analogues so easily was that with about 5 days remaining before getting another paycheck, I spent all my money on groceries and hardware / juice. Had I the money to spend I would have probably picked up a pack the first day, but I just couldn't. I had to get my fix from the vape. Seems to have worked; it'll be 2 weeks on Thursday. Certainly the urges still come, but I know I can manage with only vaping.

However you manage OP, you can do it! You'll find a way.

Welcome in....Just to add to epicdoom's post.....mouth to lung hits and exhale through the nose, doing so will aid in nicotine absorption faster/better...Keep in mind absorption via an E cig is less than an analog. In order to get the same result you need to vape 30 minutes to equal 5 minutes of an analog at the same nicotine level.....Just a rule of thumb but scientifically determined nonetheless.

You will be so much better off smoke free. Those analogs are so last weak. Change the way you think and be proud of the positive changes you are making.

Did you read the article on inhaling technique and nic absorption? It helped me satisfy the craving's with vape and not feeling like I may need to have a cig. It helped me "let go" if you will. Let us know if you haven't seen this and someone will dig it up.

Hang in there, you can do it,

After smoking 2-3 packs of Malboro Reds for 30+ years. When I started vaping I used 36 mg nic liquid. It helped tons getting throught the cravings. All ya need to do is get to the 3-4 week of no cig's and you're good to go. At least it was for me, I got over the hump and never looked back to cig's. I went from 36 to 24 mg nic just a few months ago, and plan on going lower. It's different for each person. Just keep at it and find some flavors you really enjoy and go for it. Quit those death sticks man while you have the urge to :)

The best thing that helped me was getting 24mg nicotine and taking massive draws when I felt that craving. It may not completely get rid of feeling uncomfortable but it certainly does take the edge off. You might want to try some higher PG juices and see if that helps at all. Give it like 4-7 days and you will be feeling normal again. Everybody here has great advice. Just hang in there!

Don't worry about dropping your nic levels too fast, I see lots of people, do it and they are the ones that struggle the most. Juice does taste better @ lower nic levels, and the lower jumps I have found to be much easier than say from 24 nic.

I'm about where you are. 4 weeks in now without a cigarette. Was a 2 pack a day man. At first I went to 24mg to handle the cravings but found that I couldn't vape as much as liked without getting that nic sick feeling. Started lowering the dose. Now down to 12 and chain vaping all I want with no problem. I get all the hand-to-mouth therapy I need this way. I think for some people it's the mg's that get them through, for others like me, it's the constant vaping to keep the hands busy. So, whatever gets you through the day man.

Hey, no worries about smoking them till gone, my last partial pack lasted 2 weeks, and I was a 1.5 pad smoker, and this was with a cig-a-like. lmao. Am the type of guy that ain't going to waste money and throw them away. Just don't buy any more, once you've squashed out your last ..... But don't throw the ashtray's away, they are great for spare parts and tools, well once cleaned, use one for wick and coil trimmings, when building.

It's been over a year since I've bought a smoke, been vaping since.!!

Hi all,

Got my first pro vape setup last Tuesday (as opposed to the Blus I was halfheartedly trying) and i am trying today to make it through without "cheating" with an analog.

Had a pack from last Tuesday that I made last till yesterday, but wanted to see if I could get through a day without. So far so good, but I confess I am a bit edgy. A pack a day smoker for 26 years - old habits die hard.

Anyway, just wanted to share, as I know many other here are in the same boat.

I tapered off over a 6 month time span.....

When you smoke you take a few minutes and have a cig, take a few minutes and do nothing but vape, that's part of the addiction, vape for a few min and see if you still need a cigarette, if so up your nic.

+1, I would stop was I was doing, head outside, and take a few minutes just to vape...to satisfy that behavioral routine ritual habit.

Stay strong! I craved cigarettes for a little bit too, but once I stopped buying them I was done.
I am NOT done with the habits I created from smoking. When I really have a craving, I take a "smoke break" and go outside on my porch and vape just like I did with cigarettes (just like a few others posted). This has helped me transition more easily.

I got off lucky, For me it was love at first vape :D After I got my KGO the first night I had it, I tried a cigarette and only got a few puffs in. The next day i tried one again and got halfway down before chucking it. Haven't bothered since.

On the other hand though, The smell, taste, and gross feeling that all came from Cigarettes was my main reason for switching over. The past few months before my switch I haated smoking cigs. So as soon as I got my KGO I instantly made the jump.

OP, having that many cigarettes still left in a pack after smoking a pack a day for that long is awesome. Your doing a great job so far! Keep it up : )

Thanks guys! Struggling a bit here. On day two. Haven't cheated yet, but am having a few nips to unwind from my day at work and we all know drinking and smoking go together. Bought a pack (don't believe in even having one drink and driving) so if I felt frisky and got the urge, I'd at least have them at the ready. The wrapper is still on them. Been chain vaping like crazy then pausing. Vaping back and forth between Grim Army Tobacco and Draco tobacco blend - both at 12 mg.

I know it ain't the end of the world if I break down, but I'd like to not. Anyway, thus ends my status update :)
