Hello Everyone,

I have been thinking of moving to E-Cigs from my regular cigs, coz my smoking is getting out of control. So just was thinking of e-cig options out there.

Now this is one area, that I am clueless about. I go to bars and people smoke all kinds of different types of e-cigs, some look like ciggs, and some look like those big ones with a little liquid container at the end. I am not even sure what each of the types are called.

So before buying something and regretting it later, thought of asking you guys, what are the good options out there for starters like me. Like what brands to go for and stuff like that.

For me, the only e-cig i know is Blu e-cigs, coz they have ads on TV. Other than that, I have no idea!

Hi there and welcome to ecf.

Tell us a bit about your lifestyle like where you work, what a typical day involves for you, whether you need the thing to look like a real cig or whether you are ok with something that doesn't. We can then recommend something based on your lifestyle and habits.

Don't buy Blu, they aren't very good and then are part of big tobacco which is lobbying to ban internet sales and restrict vaping options.

My Lifestyle.... hmmm, I am good with something that doesn't look like a cig. Currently smoking for 11 years. I am 28 years old. Normally do something around 14-15 ciggs a day, but its getting to a point, where i can feel it is causing health issues.

I am bar rat. So that is something that adds to my smoking in a week. Spend around 8-9 hours in office. Rest of the day at home and on weekends in a bar. That is my typical week. Doesn't change much from this.

Ok, well the general rule is the bigger the battery, the better the performance and the longer you can go between charges. It also gives you the freedom to pick something that has variable or adjustable voltage. You didn't mention a budget for this purchase but hvac above has given you two solid recommendations. Those are both very well regarded vendors.

In short, I would get either an Ego Twist kit, or a Vision Spinner kit. These are similar products made by 2 separate companies. These will normally come with everything you need, that is, batteries, chargers a few clearomizers, etc. The one additional thing you need is some juice. I'd pick like 3 bottles of juice in the 10ml size. That way you can try them without breaking the bank.

Sounds like you are ready for an entry level kit. The MyVaporStore kit mentioned previously is a good one. Here's my thoughts on entry level batteries and toppers. I do still like the eVod, as my favorite bottom coil Kanger product. Anyway, a preview:

Stick Batteries, known as eGo Style Batteries (entry level, backup, out and about, stealth, primary):
Trusted Vendors shown, but NOT selected based on pricing, you'll still need to shop around. You will need device specific battery chargers (which often come in kits) for these devices. Also, kits often provide two batteries allowing for simultaneous vaping while charging of the backup. Each of the eGo style batteries below have both 510 and eGo thread connections. As such, they are compatible with most toppers, including most Kanger products. Additionally, each of these devices has at least variable voltage, which allows you to adjust and regulate the battery output voltage, providing customizable vapor production, temperature, throat hit, and finding the "sweet spot" for your juices to suit your individual vaping preferences:

1. Innokin iTaste 3.0 vv/vw, usb passthrough, ohms reader, etc. - https://ivape.net/index.php/iTaste-VV-3.0-Variable-Wattage-Device-Pearl-Chrome.html (variable power, LCD display, +/- buttons, Usb passthrough, 3.3 - 5.0 volts, 6.0 - 11.0 watts, 800mAh)
2. SLB KGO VV - KGO V.V. 650mAh (LCD display, +/- buttons, Usb passthrough, 3.0 - 6.0 volts, 650 - 1200mAh)
3. Vision Spinner - Vision Spinner VV eGo Battery 1300mAh (3.3 - 4.8 volts, 1300mAh)
4. Joyetech Twist - eGo Twist 1000 Mah Battery in Black (3.2 - 4.8 volts, 650 - 1000mAh)
5. Smoktech Winder - Smok eGo Winder 900mAh Variable Volt Battery (3.2 - 4.8 volts, 900 - 1100mAh)

Best Starter Combo kit out there, imho, provides two batteries, i.e., the twist and/or spinner, and two toppers, i.e., the eVod and/or MT3s, among others: http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm. Recommend one eVod and one MT3s topper with one Spinner and one Twist to start. This way you get four different products with the kit and allowing you to experience four different setups, as you figure out your preferences and what works best for you. BTW, you can spend less and get a fixed voltage battery, but you'll have much less vape flexibility and it won't be long before you'll want to upgrade to variable voltage, more than likely, and the difference initially is only a few dollars per battery anyway.

Anyway, my two cents. Welcome to ECF, congrats on getting here, good luck and vape on!

A Spinner battery (well 2) 650mah- 1300mah. Higher the mah= bigger the battery.
I'd suggest one bigger one smaller(you need a back-up) just to see what suits you best,
besides it's nice to have choices.

The best device to put on top is the harder one to answer for you. I really like the evods,
I've tried a bunch of other stuff and like evods best. Whatever you choose there can be a little
fiddling involved to get the unit working how you like it, the evod is no different.

I'd suggest a few(5 or so) replacement heads if you get the evods, they are cheap and when the old ones wear out just chuck a new one in the evod tank/unit and you're golden, easy.

Google before you buy and watch reviews and tutorials first
Some sites charge way too much for stuff, shop around a bit.

For juice go with 5 or 6 different sample sizes from 2 or 3 different vendors, it's the cheapest way to find what you like or don't
like. You'll find a lot of "don't likes" so don't get big 30ml. bottles, stick to 5ml, 10 max.

Welcome to ecf and the world of vape. Congrats on switching!:vapor::vapor:

my best advice, is to quit smoking period. You will suffer for a few days but stick that PV in your mouth as much as possible and fight the urge to smoke. the goal is after a few weeks, you will not want to smoke. YMMV but if you REALLY want to quit, the ball is in your court. you are ultimately in control; not the cigarette.

Look, everyone always says get a variable volt ego. While VV is something that most of the vaping community enjoys, it costs about twice as much as a regular ego. I would say just get a cheap ego to see if you enjoy it. Then if it is something you want to get into, then get the VV stuff. You can't really know if e cigs are for you until try one. That's cool that you want to stop smoking, but e cigs aren't for everyone. When all of us first got into e cigs, we look back and think we should have gotten the variable volt egos. However, there are also people that didn't like e cigs and now have a $70 paper weight.

Of the vapors I know, that would be 100%

<-- and they are still smoking ... ;-)~

I tried vaping three times before it worked for me and the difference was the equipment and the strength of the juice. In 2009, and again in 2011, I bought vaping equipment and was turned off because I couldn't get even close to satisfying my cravings. Buying inexpensive ciglike and small ego batteries was my undoing both times. If you want to quit by vaping, it helps to have some good gear. I didn't know about all the online stuff, ECF, or anything of the sort six months ago. I wasted an awful lot of money over the years buying the wrong stuff. Everybody here knows that the better the battery life, the right strength ejuice, a high capacity delivery system (as opposed to dripping for example), all make a big difference on whether you will like vaping or not. Go cheap and fail and not really knowing what works cost me four years of additional smoking. I say GO BIG, it's your best chance together with the right mindset.

it's full on want to quit or don't bother. like Yoda says, "Do or do not; there is no try."

hey hell-Storm! I'm new to forum and just started using eCig. I got a ego battery & clearomizer with a tobacco flavored juice. I was a PAD smoker for about 35yrs. After 1/2 a day with the eCig I've had no desire to light up a regular smoke.

maybe there's a local Vape shop near you. That was very helpful for me.

Good luck!

id recommend getting a ego ctwist as a beginner vape. They have have variable voltage and they are also portable and reasonable size. Also they are cheap and very effiecient! check out VaporFusion - Discount Electronic Cigarettes and Accessories they have it on sale at the moment! i just recently purchase the starter kit and man its works like a champ.

There's truth in that there?^^^^.
I knew I had to quit though, but "couldn"t, vaping "had to" work for me. Bought a provari and a year and a half later
it's still working (and working well) and I've quit.

Everyone's different. At the end of the day though it's whatever works for you. The rather heavy investment helped to keep me on track, as well as the quality vape the provari offered me.

Cheers!

I look at it this way, if people come here to the ECF forums, they are all about vaping. if they still smoke it isn't our business. it's like saying I vape and eat turkey sandwiches. all we care about is the vaping. so I don't think about them leaving and quit vaping. so I advice on what I think they should start with. this will always be a VV ego or andy VV/ VW device.
