I cringe when people mention a chiropractor. Once you go, you will have to go again, and again, and again...

I tend to agree with you Peng...they are a persistent bunch  Just knew that Turbo was seeing one. Believe that's who ordered the MRI.

yeah man, I think I'm finally back in action here, this turned into a whole month of agony. never had any kind of flare up like this ever last a whole month before, can't begin to tell you how frustrating it is when you want to do stuff but physically just can't, it's a very sucky feeling, for a while there I almost felt like I wanted to just die, feeling helpless and always in pain is not a good feeling at all :(

over the past month I've had a few days here and there of working in the shop off and on, but every time I'd put a few hours in it would cause even more pain and then put me back in bed for a few days again, but I think I'm finally past that. I still have some pain and my right arm still gets numb and tingly a bit, but nothing like it was and I'm def able to work again as long as I don't push it too much. was supposed to go for an mri today but I'm going to put it off till Wednesday I think, I really need to get caught up with work

the past week I finished building and testing my ultem polishing equipment which works awesome by the way, I can now get the ultem as clear as glass inside and out, which was my last hurdle with the ultem being truly ready for prime time. if you thought the ultem looked good before wait till you see it now :) it actually works so good now that I can even get the black ultem up to a high gloss, glass like finish too, so much so that I think I now need to build a media blaster just to cut the gloss level a bit, the black ultem is just too damn glossy now

I also winded up finishing rewiring my whole basement shop yesterday too. before I only had 2 circuits in the basement shop including lighting so I was limited to how much equipment I could use at the same time when the vacuum is running, and the more equipment and lighting I added the worse it got, I started blowing breakers here and there and the ultem polishing equipment was like the last straw, so I got my buddy electrician to come out this weekend and add a bunch of circuits, even added a 220 circuit so I can add a big compressor down there eventually too. last night I was able to turn every single thing on at the same time with no circuit breaker popping, I would never need to have everything on at the same time ever really, but at least now I don't have to worry about overloads anymore :)

that's one problem with being laid up is it gives you a lot of time to think, and when my mind wanders I start to devise plans for improving the shop and building new tools so what ever little work I've been getting done past few weeks have been more towards shop improvements with only a little mod work getting thrown in here and there. now that the equipment is mostly done and the shop is completely rewired, today finally I'm going back at finishing up the wood mods I have that have been waiting for me all month, and trying to finish up a batch of ultems too. I desperately need to get some mods done now or I'm going to wind up having to sell my car at this point and I def don't want to have to do that :)

Turbo who? :p

For a second I thought it was Vaughn in disguise (I know, bad joke ;))

Good to have you back John :)

Glad you're back let you back ;)

As has been said - don't overdue it!

EDIT: A friend of mine who isn't on ECF just went CRAZY over your mod, turbo. Can I add his name to the list, while I get him signed up and able to post in the thread himself?

I guess so as long as he's going to sign up here.

I finally have an MRI scheduled for Friday night, curious to see what the hell is making my whole right arm go numb and tingly. I kinda agree about chiropractors TBH but he's the only guy I know and he charges me a very fair price for a visit, so I figured why not.

honestly the rate of him helping is probably ~50-50 so far but I don't know what else to do. no medical insurance and being out of work for almost a year doesn't leave me too many options at this point really, I just want it to go the F away, don't need this crap right now :)

I have started to do the CA finish on a few of the wood mods I'm working on. the CA finish is a long drawn out process but hopefully I can have these wood mods finished by next week and also get some ultems done by next week too, I know super X is dying to get his hands on the first production ultem mod and I've kept him (and everyone else) waiting way more that long enough, the ultem internal polishing was a hurdle that is finally overcome :) hopefully some time next week I'll be contacting the next people on the list for the next batch of wood mods and start ramping up production on the ultems :)

I have been rather concerned, and hope they get you some relief soon!

yeah guys I'm good, things moving along here I should have pics of mods starting to get completed in the next few days, I've really been on a shop improving kick past few weeks so my time has been divided between modding and working on the shop when ever I could actually get into the shop and do anything.

I'm sorry to have brought up all the crap here about my back problems just felt like I really needed to explain all the delays this past month, not start a pity party. I hate chronic complainers and I really hope I'm not coming off that way here but since I did bring it up, as closure to the story I did get an MRI friday night and got the report from my chiropractor on saturday, turns out I have 3 bulging discs and one herniated disc all in my upper cervical spine and also what there calling "marked stenosis" of the spinal cavity which is a narrowing of the spinal cavity from bone buildup and of course the bulging and herniated discs which are causing pressure on my nerve bundle that runs through the spine, so yeah, lots of fun there :) doc says not much they can do except try to alleviate the symptoms and try not to aggravate it, I should try not to do the things that cause it to be aggravated and to rest it and give it time to heal when it does flare up, they can give me injections and some pain meds but the only way to really fix it is surgery but that should be avoided until there is no other option.

I bought an inversion table yesterday off craigslist and I'm going to try a little bit of hanging upside down like a bat to try and straighten out a bit, did a little last night and I think it helped a bit so far, from the research I've been doing a lot of people swear that inversion therapy helps them so I figured why not give it a shot :) it does seem to help me at least stretch a bit better :)

"Doc, it hurts when I do this."
"Well, don't do that!"

ha, yeah that's kind of how the conversation went, he's telling me don't type on the computer, don't do anything strenuous, don't lean forward and don't bend this way and don't do this and don't do that, and I'm like well what the f I can't just stay in bed all day with my head propped up on a pillow and he's like well then you're just gonna have to suffer :p

They have made great advances in the science of back surgery. My dad has spinal stenosis. They did a fusion on him from diaphragm level all the way down earlier this year along with removal of spurs. He still marvels at the absence of pain and the fact that he can move better than he has in years.

ok I got the batch of wood mods I'm working on pretty close to done and ready for electronics install, all except for one which is fighting me the whole way :)

here's a few pics, the first one is a katalox dna200 with an ebony door and faceplate. this katalox is a really hard wood, it's so dense that it sinks like a rock in a bucket of water. it polishes up to a beautiful natural finish and I think it pairs very well with the ebony trim

the next one is an over and under design like the 200's but it will actually be a dna75 dual 18650. this wood is cocobolo, another very hard wood that polishes up to a beautiful finish, this one too with ebony trim....

I am now making all of the over and under mods automatically include the cappy V4 BFX silicone bottles, they just work so well in this mod that it's now the default bottle for the over and under mods going foward
