Twisting Wire / amps

hey y'all
I need to modify my DIY altoids mod. Its just an unregulated 18650, I guess its semi-mechanical. I was wondering if twisting two 24g stranded wires would allow that wire to handle higher amps or even make the mod more efficient then the "stock" 24g stranded wire.

two wire's will allow current to flow easier. what is your goal your trying to achieve.

To be able to have my mod handle higher amps more effectively. I melted my battery cradle a little bit on the positive end I was wondering if twisting the wires together and soldering the ends before I soldered them to my atty and switch and battery contacts would cut down on heat

Is it a single 18650? Thats alot of heat, maybe you have a cold joint there. Now im not at all an expert but I have 20g in my raptor and nothing ever get hot. I believe that these guys are running up to 18 guage in the unregulated boxes. Double 24 guage is alota wire, more than enough for sure.

What current are you attempting to push through the wires?

I have a 5 amp switch and I was running at the lowest like 0.5ohms. I know that's more then the switch can take but its still working and the melting on the battery was after the switch and the atty connector in the circuit.

Look at an Ohm's law calculator. 4.2 volts, from a fresh battery, through a .5 ohm load gives 8.5 amps. 3 and a half more than your switch is rated for.

If you know it is more than the switch can handle you should not be doing it. A 5A switch could work with 100A through it, just a matter of when it will fail and how bad the resulting damage will be. Why not buy the proper wire instead of attempting to rig something together?
