The creation of irrational fears is a means of control and distraction. It is a device used by over-reaching governments for centuries. It goes hand in hand with bread and circuses. Our government uses all three devices very effectively. Excuse me, I have to go watch the Kardashians, get my EBT card refilled and worry if I am going to die from too much, or is it too little, coffee.

only 30% of smokers ever develop a physical dependency
to smoking. i am not sure of the percentage of those
with just a habitual dependency but suffice to say that
just because someone quits cold turkey it doesn't mean
they have more will power than any one else.
it means they were not addicted to smoking in the
first place.

i'm going to say not always the case.

i've quit more notorious substances cold turkey. i assure you addiction had a strong foothold.

one substance, during quitting, i didn't have the power to do anything. i just sat Indian style in the corner for 2 weeks vomiting on myself.

when i could finally stand, i got up, cleaned the area, did my laundry, showered and shaved... and by the end of the day had a new job and a new life.

i am not saying that quitting anything including nicotine does
not have a detrimental affect for those whom have developed
a physical dependency. i'm just saying as it pertains to smoking
and drinking and the other stuff that people quit cold turkey all the
time with no apparent or very minor withdrawal symptoms and then attribute
it to superior will power are not necessarily correct.

oh, definitely.

that didn't come through at all in your first post.

So I bowl in a league every Wednesday night, and tonight when I was done I was sitting at the bar finishing my beer with my mid sitting on the bar. The management there is fine with Vaping and I am always polite and don't blow clouds or anything. Most people can't even tell. So this one lady comes up to me and says "you know those will be outlawed soon" I said maybe but I will enjoy it while I can and at lest I'm not smoking. She replies that they are just as bad and still have nicotine, I said I like nicotine and besides I have cut my nicotine by 1/3 since quitting smoking plus no more tar and 90% less chemicals. She just walked away....hope I made some difference but she's a judgmental non-smoker. Sorry to vent but this is the first time I've had to deal with an attitude like that other than family...they don't count lol.

This actually happens quite often here. Most people around here don't vape, let alone have even seen any form of "vape" beyond a gas station kit. I consistently hear "You know that has more formaldehyde than cigarettes." "You know that is just like smoking." "You are inhaling anti-freeze." etc etc. I just shrug it off, however I do tend to notice it generally comes from current smokers, ex-smokers, and the petty types. Never really non-smokers actually, they seem more interested in what Im doing in the first place, and usually congratulate me for quitting. Really it comes from a mix of envy and general misinformation about the entire subject. People seem to hate what they don't even understand, I wouldn't even let it phase you. :toast:

You mean like this beer I am drinking was at one time outlawed? Yeah, good luck with that.
