how many of you guys use these for cleaning atomizers? does it work well?

i wasn't sure if i wanted to spend 30 bucks on electronics if it wasn't going to do anything. but ive read a writeup a while ago from someone praising it, and occasionally wonder if its what its cracked up to be. ive seen them on amazon for 25-35 bucks. the only weird thing is quality of cheaper ones, sonic 2800 etc, all the negative reviews are similar have same sort of failures within days of using units etc, and DOA.

Have no idea about the good or bad of the cleaners. It of course is another device that sooner or later will go on the "fritze". Have you considered a rebuildable atty? I use a Bulli Classic A-2 that has a dripping option. No need to clean, I just replace the coil.

i have a RBA currently, i dont have issues building heads. but for disposable vivi nova heads, and eroll heads etc etc. it would be pretty convenient to throw a handful of items into one and leave them.

I don't use one for atomizers, though I'm beginning to find multiple uses for mine.

If you're worried about getting a dud or having failures, pay special attention to warranties!
I bought a higher-end unit from Joy4Less through amazon. They have 1 year parts and labor warranty. In fact, when mine arrived, the lid was cracked. I emailed them late at night to ask for a new one. Got an email the next day with a tracking number for a new lid free of charge.

The sonic wave 2800 sold by Joy4less has the same 1 year warranty. It's $20 bucks, and if you're not looking for a long cycle (this one is 3 minutes) or a heater, you really can't beat that.

I'm all about warranties. And so far, I really like this company.

Good luck in your search. I have nothing but good things to say about ultrasonic cleaners!

Edited to add: For $20, I'd say it's definitely worth the risk. Think of how much atties cost. If you were able to save just a couple of them, it'd be well worth the cost of buying the new gadget. Looks like some folks are having luck with atties and VVN heads and such.

I bought one from Shoptronics a couple of years ago for around $30. I use it now to clean vivi nova heads and it works quite well. I use 100 proof vodka for solvent in the tank. I would use everclear but it's not available in VA.
How long does it take to clean them in this?

I have a cheap jewelry cleaner that I use to clean my T3 bases. It works pretty well, and it's definitely not a very good unit. The bases come out visibly clean and the flavor is extremely pure after use.

I'm sure the better units do a superior job, but so far I'm happy with the really cheap one I bought years ago to clean jewelry.

I find I prefer the dry burn method over the sonic cleaner especially if you can get to the coil easily like with the Kanger T3. I can do a dry burn and rinse within the 3 minutes that my sonic cleaner uses (and I usually ran it 3 times for a total of 9 minutes).

If you really want to see how well your sonic cleaner works, drop in a 1" x 1" square of tin foil and run the cleaner through one cycle. If the cleaner is a good one you will see tiny holes in the tin foil.
