I purchased an ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight and the thing cleans like a champ. I use a Riva510 with the stock atomizers and cartridges. I primarily vape coffee flavors, which really gunk up the atomizers.

Just like the OP, I use cheap vodka and 3 x 3 minute cleaning sessions (or a total of 9 minutes) for the atomizers. They come out fresh as a daisy, no dry burn required. The atomizers work just like new and you can really see how much gunk comes off the coil.

I paid $40 for the ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight. It's a little bigger than the WalMart unit, but it cleans nicely. I use it for atomizers, cartridges, and cones.

Highly suggested. Thumbs up to the OP.

I've been cleaning my C-E2's and Clearo's in one for quit awhile. Seems to work like a champ. I use PGA, and pour it back in the bottle when done. I pull the plugs out, and cracked Clearo's I take it out of the tube. Got mine from Amazon. Had plastic teeth long affore vaping came around. JMHO

Cheers,

good thread tex.

if you dont mind I have some background using ultrasonic cleaners in a industrial environment and would like to add. While they seem harmless they can be quite powerful over time. I would stick to the low end cleaners as stated. more powerful ones (or extended times) could easily separate wires from solder or damage connectors. I also would avoid putting plastic drip tips or even the plastic of the clearomizer's in. I think I would stick pretty close to the OP system even leaving them in a low power system for a extended period of time could potentially cause damage.

This is from a dude that has ruined his fair share of stuff in (much more powerful) ultrasonic cleaners. I destroyed the plastic ear and nose pieces on a pair of glasses once.

now I gotta go to wallmart

My Wally's also had the LA Sonic...I tripped on over too Harbor Freight and got theirs...First cleaning was done with reverse osmosis filtered water....Iken HV 306 and a Joye 510 were the test subjects..The 306 performed quiet well afterwards and the Joye fired well on the Buzz but gave an error code on the Pro-Vari...It was quiet abused previously however...Plenty of chunks were observed flushing from both atties...Now I'll get some vodka and clean them before they go South..That should keep them going indefinitely...Hech fire that thing works dang good on jewelery too!!!! Thanks for the heads up and great info TexasandProud...Melvin I believe it was!!!!!!!!

Just found out that there is a Harbor Freight store 17mi from me. Gonna trek on over to get the ones manufactured by Chicago Tools which look very much like the one suggested by texanandproud.

Thanks Melvin for the awesome explanation and tech info. Very, very valuable.

@Rosco: I switch too much between BwB juices {I can't decide} that I need to clean out the attys much more frequent :)

I didn't buy the Haier HU335W--the ratings for the reliability of this unit were poor on amazon.com. The ratings on the Trent 3800 were much better, but the specs were the same and only $35. I bought the Trent from amazon.com and have used it for jewelry and eyeglasses. It does a fantastic job. When I get enough used attys together I'll try it on them with my $10/1.75 liter ABC vodka.

I have a question to go along with this thread. Would this also work with cartomizers? I can see why it wouldn't, other than the fact of the drying time for the poly-fill...just curious. Be Well.

I see this has still not been answered for BaronRocco since he asked the end of March.

Has anyone tried it with their Cartomizers???
I'd even like to know, since I haven't tried it with them. Who can tells us?????

Thanks, Rosco! I was just fixing to bump the thread with the same plus another question. I *did* see that "otrpu" posted about ce2's and clearo's, which are similar...but I just know that the "innards" of a cartomizer are different because of the way they are wired and poly-fill completely filling it. So yes, please, lol.

My second question: I stopped and got me some Everclear grain alcohol and was wondering...does one use 100% of the grain alcohol/vodka, or do you "cut" it with distilled water/tap water, etc...? Thanks again.
