His greatest talent was taking a single incomplete verse and making it an entire book.

The man was a wizard!

On that note, you might get along with my BIL.

He shares the same sentiment.

Though he may or may not consider Green Eggs and Ham the greatest literary masterpiece of all time and/or a pinnacle of higher learning.

I kid...
Maybe.

Dr Seuss is the 9th best selling fiction author in history with over 600 million copies sold, translated in over 20 languages.

Suck on that atomizer, Jay Z.

I'm usually the type of person that "has to see it to believe it" but after 3 pages of comments.... I will not be that type of person for this case.:headbang:
It reminded me of Sesame Street...the kids would love it

Green eggs and Ham didn't exactly set itself up for a sequel. Bad business move on the doctors part. Asbestos I am.

Green Eggs and Ham only has 50 words. They repeat themselves. 49 words are only 2 syllable and only 1 word has 3 syllables.

Do you know what word has 3?

    anywhere

Gosh, was that just sittin in your brain all these years since you raised your kids?

Dr Seuss was the greatest rapper of all.

Interesting! Never thought of it that way...

In 1972, about ten years before RAP was born an obscure Italian performer wrote and preformed "Prisencolinensinainciusol" with gibberish English words so we could appreciate what our songs sound like to them. Resembles modern RAP and is well worth a listen. Sadly the version that introduced me to it 10 or 12 years ago is gone. Apparently the copyright police got it:( Still some OK versions of it on YouTube. Music starts about a minute and a half into both I just listed to.

Side notes, early 80s when RAP still rhymed (and lacked profanities!) I remember asking a slightly younger coworker "What is that weird 'talking music' they just started playing?" Also the movie Police Academy has at least one very early RAP song in it.

    First rap song ever recorded>>>

    By about 2 months.
    Lol.

"House party rap" was around in parties since the late 60's, with DJs performing improvised raps over tracks.
Most were explicit and couldn't be played over the radio due to lyrical content.
SHG just made it out of the studio first with an acceptable song.
Few months later there were other rap songs in the top 100.
See Clarence "Blowfly" Reid for just one example.

I cannot believe I just typed a "rap history" post on ECF.

It does seem a bit weird, BN, but it does happen to the best of us.... I still like it when my kid puts on the latest rap and it's not sucking.

That being said, your link totally traumatized me, BN, mainly *just* got done with "The artist formerly known as RIP, I had to hastily move on.... :)

And... I liked Dr. Z as much as the next person.... Until I had a child who enjoyed being read to a LOT. There are certain Dr. Z books that I can hardly open the cover. That said, he did have a fascinating parent to draw into the action... Remember the hat book? Definitely felt like the parent on that one...
