well AngiBe is only 24-ish, so surely she can handle it.

This is why we are back together, for now ^^^^^^^

Depends if she gets up like I do. I can't handle it in the morning. AND don't you go callling me OLD

I'm a total morning person. It's weird. I wake up 99% all ready to go, well, I get up happy most of the time and energetic but don't like to get "ready" (shower, do the hair...) until I have my coffee and do other stuff like laundry, vape, make coffee..

Good evening everyone! Finally getting used to this driving on the wrong side of the road on the wrong side of the car. Still occasionally hitting the windshield wipers for the turn signals though. Everything in cars here is bass ackwards... Sure am glad this is an automatic, I'd have a heck of a time with a stick here as you would have to shift with your left hand.

I think the wife is going have to drive me home from the airport when I return, I'd have to think too hard to get back to driving normal...

K cups are the pre-filled cartos of the coffee world. The reusable ones sound better, but I'd have to taste it.

And I do not put tap water or bottled water through mine (Poland Spring, etc.). I use distilled. It's cheaper, and it is far superior. It imparts no flavors of its own, and is able to coax every nuance from the grind. And you never have to clean scale build-up, cause there are no minerals in distilled.

If you switch, I'd clean your maker out first. Then don't judge it until you've run a gallon or so through it. The distilled will be "cleaning" the machine. But every time, it will get better and better.

You owe it to yourself to try it, now that we have taste buds again.

Hi everyone! I'm in Singapore until April 4th, then home for 2 or 3 weeks then back again for another month or two... At least I'll have my wife with me for part of the next trip!
Hey, Goph. Hope you are filling a hard drive with pics. It is amazing to really check out another culture, another world.

When I feel adventurous, and want to experience strange cultures and languages, I'll take a trip to North Jersey...

for the longest time my step-dad refused to drink any coffee from a Keurig, but it was because they had one at his work and chose really cruddy flavors, so he assumed they were all like that.

then i showed him a Kona blend (nothing like fertile volcanic soil to make great coffee) i had and he instantly realized there are good K-cups out there. it does take some time to pick a winner, especially if you prefer stronger or bolder flavors, but given the sheer number available, there's something that everyone likes.

as for descaling, i just use white vinegar about once every couple of months. i've seen descaling kits, but they seem like a rip-off.

Hey Goph! Great to hear about your adventures. And didn't even think about the whole weird driving issue. That's so wild driving on the opposite side of the road AND steering wheel being on the other side. I wonder why this is not the same everywhere.

I'm sure there's a reason but I don't know what it is. It would look like a bunch of mailmen to me cuz they're the only ones I can think of here that look goofy

Yup, white vinegar works great. That's what I use to de-scale the distiller.

I'll recant a bit. K cups do give a pretty good cup of coffee. And the ability to try a lot of flavors with a variety pak is valuable. We use them at work.

They don't give that perfect espresso with crema that I love. But for under $150 for the machine, they do ok.

Yes but better to try one that belongs to someone else first before getting one of your own
True.

(Are we still talking about coffee makers? Or provaris?)

lol

Definitely, if you can, try a machine first before buying. Good K cup machines aren't cheap at $150. And the good espresso machines are $250 on up!!

But anyone can benefit from trying distilled water.

Coffeemakers for now... still before noon, then we can intermingle until about 4pm and then full transition into Provaris

I know a lot of people really love their Keurig... mom and pops do. I am just not a fan. I get a decent cuppa with the Pacific Bold k-cups from Costco and I know I have been through probably 20 others that didn't impress to find that one. I buy whole bean and grind as needed for a single pot, use stainless carafe with no heating element and if I want a cuppa with the nice crema... I pull out my little coffee press

Yeah, I just run one cup of vinegar with four cups of water through it about every two weeks. Then I run a second pot to clean out any left over vinegar smell. Then it tastes like brand new. Well it does until my wife uses it and doesn't clean out the filters. blech
