I used a Halo Triton for the first few months of vaping. It was always made fun of when I went into a couple of B&M's I went to around here. So I got my ProVari and I thought "This thing is obviously the ....., and these jerks at (these certain) shops can finally shut up about what I'm using." I go in, pull out my ProVari and test a few juices (sucks, because they have the best). Go to the counter to buy one and the dude proceeds to tell me that the ProVari was a horrible waste of money because I can't sub-ohm (lmfao), and what I really needed to buy was this wacky looking lightsaber hilt he pulled out. What a joke. I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone, and went into the shop because I felt comfortable enough with what I was using to buy some juice that only they had. The Triton should have been enough to let these guys know I am there for business. I will not be going there ever again, and am SO happy with the ProVari. I had looked at some other mods, but honestly this is as far as I want to go. I love the thing, couldn't ask for a more well built and reliable piece. ...

I'm sorry you had that experience. I once had that happen with another customer at a vape shop. I pretty much told him that he vapes what he wants ill vape on what I want. If it works for you then great! Have a nice day! Well...I prob didn't say it that nicely. I'm really tempted to ask you to PM me where that happened at. I see we're both in NC & I certainly wouldn't want to give them my money either.

A kinda the same thing happened at a local vape shop. Told me a ProVari is too temperamental to use an RBA on and wouldn't recommend getting one. Bought some juice, then while walking out, these high-end mech mods caught my eye. Was told they were on the pricey side, then they guy said it was break time and had to go. Not a very good way to sell things. Haven't been back even though they do have some nice juices there.

I hate when these B&M idiots try to spur sales rather than satisfying the customers needs.

I can order the juice online. I'm just impatient lol. They don't ever try to sell me mods, just make me feel like mine is a pos. Chimney, if you're in the RDU area, I'd suggest going to Level Eleven Vapor, Ecigs (in Cary), or Vapor Market in Knightdale. I don't want to give a shop a bad review by name. You may love them or they may shape up. It maybe they just don't like me lol. Not sure.

Sorry that happened to you, I "help out" at a local vape shop on the weekends as their builder/salesperson. I NEVER look down or make people feel bad because of the device they are using, it's BAD Business. In fact it doesn't matter if they have a $20 device or a $250 device, I treat them all the same.

I'm all about Vape community, if they ask about my Zombie edition, I tell them the reason why I bought it and never mention the price I paid unless they ask, when they do, I tell them in a way that does not make them feel bad or less important.

I'm the type of guy that makes people feel good about the choice on gear that they buy, I don't give my opinion even if asked. I do tell them that if they want huge clouds that they need to get on ECF and Youtube to learn about battery safety, coil building and subohming or if I have time, I will give them the education they seek.

Hope you find a B&M that will take care of you. It sucks to wait, but there is always eBay and the internet which has all the stuff they have at lower prices.

I'd never ask you to do that openly in the forum. I do go through that area often when visiting my family out near the Rocky Mount area & I'm always looking to try new vape shops & see what they offer in comparison to what's around here. I'll keep those in mind for sure the next time I'm in the area since you vouch for them:D

Trust me...I'm sure it's not you. In my experience me & the shop owner were talking about mods & I told him I'd just received my first Provari. He wanted to see it...they sell mostly smok stuff so he'd never seen one in person. From across the room this guy decided to grunt & express his hatred for Provari. Had he ever seen one? No! Had he ever used one? No! He told me I could've had 3 mechs for what I paid for my purple V2.5. I looked at the prices & told him I could've bought 2 but the difference was I COULD buy one of those mechs but unlike him I wouldn't HAVE to buy one before he actually would HAVE to REPLACE his. That was an excellent end to that debate. And in my best southern accent I wished everyone a great day & went along my way;)

My folks live in Cary, nice to hear there's a decent shop there if I need supplies next time I visit. Lots of B&M's in my area, just so unbelievably overpriced that I only go in when absolutely necessary, which is pretty rare. Last time was to get a compatible battery for a mod I bought that needed flat tops and all I had was button tops. The guy behind the counter started to pitch me on an Evic. I listened, and nodded, and pulled out my 'vari and Russian set up and started puffing away as he talked. He noticed and stopped talking and grinned a little and went "Ah. You're probably all set then, huh?" I laughed (smugly I admit) and walked out with my overpriced flat top battery.

Hehehe!!! I love it:lol:
But sadly most ecig users aren't as well informed. I try to support my local vape shops by buying juice here & there despite the prices mainly because I see the need for them here in big tobacco land. I try to persuade everyone I meet who vapes or is interested to atleast visit ECF & educate themselves on safety of batteries, liquid, mods etc... Because sadly I don't see much education when I visit many of these shops but I do see a lot of mechs & that kinda frightens me, especially when 'big brother' is already lurking waiting to pounce on us.

Hey Chimney,

Hey John:wub:
I'm no where near as wonderful as you my friend!

Strange, most of those Halo Triton/Evod Kits are usually the beginning of a new relationship between new consumer and....... the B&m's, to begin taking your money. The Evod kit was the wives and I first purchase, if it wasnt for the time the B&M took to set us all up and fill us with juice and info (customer service) I am sure we wouldn't have returned to drop hundreds of dollars for juices and upgrades when we were too impatient to order online!! SHame on them for laughing at their perfect tool for a good standing first impression and relationship, THEY ARE FOOLS AND IMMATURE!!! Grade school ....!!!

Between the price point and ease of use I believe the Evod was the PERFECT tool to get us started. And I know they made a nice little profit on the things, $60 sounded like a very a great deal for 2 setup sticks and a charger when one is new an excited about saving health and money and I was more than happy to pay their asking price and get personal assistance on the spot. I have seen those same kits selling for $35 online and every time I am in the B&M's those things are flying off the shelves with another new customer. Am sure they almost double their money on the spot with those things

I for one could/can afford the Provari, like nice things and went ahead and purchased one. Proud owner too but whatever others like and purchase that's their choice and I respect that. I think most of the judging comes from the younger and immature crowd. This is my 2 cents anyways and coming from a 44 year old MAN!!

Experiences like this are why I love Yelp. :)

Funny you mention Yelp. That is how we found our first Vape shop. Later on we also used Yelp to visit ever shop listed in town. I also left very good reviews to all (well deserved) except for one which had the AeroTank listed for $49.99. I understand the businesses need to make a few bucks but that price markup was ridiculous and $20 more others carrying them locally. After my review I later heard from a little Birdie, they made some price adjustments :)

I had a similar experience in another industry when I was travelling recently. I was shopping around to find the best price on a rental car. When I asked one company what cars were available, the customer service person told me their cars would get me "from point A to point B." Enterprise, on the other hand, told me I would be driving a 2013 or 2014 model.

First time using Enterprise for car rentals, and the last time I use anyone else.

I have this shop here that is a little odd. The people that work there will tell you up front they dont know a thing. I found that very honest and I keep going back just because the employees are very nice. They were telling me the other day that the one person that did work there that half way knew what they were doing was fired because the owner did not like the idea that he knew more than they did. The employees dont think the shop will last very long with the way the owners run things. They are sitting back just waiting cause once they loose their shirts they want to take it over and asked if I would be willing to come in and consult for them and help them make it sucessful. I was very faltered by their offer, but I told them I did not feel like i knew enough about vaping to really be of great help, but i would do what i could. They also told me that some customers come in and tell them that the provari is not worth it either. They could not get the clouds that they wanted. I just shook my head and told them they must have been kids that were sub ohming. Why cant people leave others alone. I like my provari and it is all I need.

Odd that they would mock you for the Triton Halo (seems to be an ego knock off?)

I mean, the ego, while not the epitome of e cig tech, really made the transition for a whole lot of us much easier. an Ego t was what made me put down the pack and pick up vaping. Was it a good vape? No not really, but I started researching what options I had to improve the vape. I went from an LR Atty, to carto tanks, to realizing I was limiting my self with the battery, and moved into the provari (skipping all the chineese crap along the way, because of 20x posts of " I wish I went Ego to Provari")

Anyways, any BM that is going to mock an Ego style device (which should be a bm's bread and butter) means they don't know how to attract new customers, and they will be an empty store front in the near future.

They also need to realize that the sub ohm user is a minority, and 95% of your sales are going to cater to new vapers, selling ego starter kits, chargers, toppers and juice. I have an excellent B&M and they just started carrying pro tanks and Innokin products. The advanved vaper, the sub ohm vaper, etc have all likely outgrown their local B&M and only go in for consumables or juice.
