When I ordered my LP grand, I just ordered the RM5. I just joined this forum a few days ago, but it seems to me like mostly everyone's rocking the RM2 or RM3. I don't know how long the RM5 has been available, but I gotta tell you it's amazing. I use mine with the air flow ring all the way open, I've ran .2 ohm dual coils in it with out any issues. My batteries take a beating when I do that, but that's about it. The flavor is top notch and it hits like a freight train, especially with the low sub ohm builds. I recently had .25 ohm dual stove top coils in it, it was a hot vape, hit hard, but the flavor was the best I've had. Anyway, this is my opinion and I'm sure you all have yours, but I do think it's worth it to give it a try.

Wow - wild build!

Welcome to the forum and do tell - what's your build procedure?

I've got a video firing the stove tops that's pretty cool, but photobucket isn't being friendly right now. Once I get the video uploaded I'll post it.

I got the idea from a guy on YouTube, he's pretty obnoxious but has a lot of good advice...he goes by rip trippers on YouTube. I saw the review of the coil and really wanted to try it out so I did. I found that the easiest way to build those is with a handy jig I made. I'm in the military and was able to get my hands on a 30MM shell used in the gun of the Blackhawk helicopters we have. Anyway, I drilled out the primer and I just took my 5/64 drill bit (craftsman bit with the hexagonal end on it) and shoved it in the bottom of the shell to hold in place. I used 24ga kanthal for the wire, wrap the wire around the bit like you would a micro coil for the first wrap, then for the second, third, and fourth wraps instead of wrapping next to the previous, just overlap all of them. This can be tricky, that's why I built the jig...the shell serves as a handle and the bottom serves as a flat base so I can wrap the wire on top of the previous wrap. Once your done with the coil and lock it into place, fire it like you would the micro coil and take your tweezers and pinch the coil flat and keep working at it until it glows red from the inside out. As far as wicking goes, I just took a strand of rayon and placed it over the top first and sorta wrapped the wick around it and tucked what was left under the coil near the feed hole. The second coil is done exactly the same as the first. Then make sure you have gold contacts and strong batteries, I use Sony VTC5's. If your interested in trying the coil, I advise watching the video on YouTube, search rip trippers stove top coil, if you have any questions please feel free to ask. I must warn you, it's a really hot vape, after a few hits my atty is a little warm. Those coils vaporize juice almost as soon as you push the button. With that, your going to run thru some juice keeping the wick wet. The pay off though....it's definitely the flavor produced from the coil, by far the best flavor I've had so far, the amount of vapor is impressive too. You can chunk some nice big clouds, give it a try.

Well, this thread has intrigued me enough that I just ordered an IGO-BF and an RM3. I'm a flavor junkie, not a cloud chaser, and this is the first thread full of reviews that has convinced me that I might want to try something besides the RM2, which I have considered near perfect (for me) all these many months.

You will have to let me know what you think of them.

JetMac, that looks awesome inside and out. Are those doughnut coils?

Lol, they look like doughnuts, but their called stove top coils. Remember the old school electric stove top burners....that's what they look like when your done making them.

If your running a LP mod, try the reomizer 5. I haven't tried anything else except for a Reomizer 2 and Cyclone, and the 5 blows both of them out of the water hands down.

I agree, in fact imho it's better than the RM2. I'm considering buying 3 or 4 of them because i'm figuring you can't get better flavor.

I used those before using the REO, i own magmas, origen V2, kayfuns and whatnot and i've always found this atty to be the best thing around flavor wise, contrary to popular opinion and the price difference with say an OG magma. Other 14mm atties like the rm2 or the smoktech squid are very good also but this one is even sharper probably because the chamber is smaller and the cap is vaguely domed (i'm still amazed at how a domed top cap like the magma concentrates the flavor.)
Of course the main problem with 14mm atties on regular mods is that they hold like 5 drops max so they're great, but a pain to use. That was my main reason for switching to the Reo, and it did not disappoint...

Also if you compare it to the rm2, it's way easier to build.
I don't know why people find the rm2 easy : the fact that you can't move the cap around makes it really hard to position your coil correctly, plus each time you move your coil it deforms a bit. I think its the RDA i've struggled with the most to have my airhole lined up. I believe alot of people don't realize their coil is not placed correctly, because on the rm2 you can have an OK vape easily it you're vaguely pointing to the coil, but a micro change to the coil position can get you to a stellar flavor and you might not realize it if you don't have another small atty to compare with.
That and the squonk hole placement makes it really easy to have weak squonking and draining, so that can make wicking difficult also.

Those 2 problems are non existant on the igo, you basically coil it, move the hole in front of the coil and bam ! and it squonks and drains great from the center post.

But it's not perfect either :

- I find the ceramic deck useless on the rm2 but it would be very useful on the igo. The hole placement is so low, each time i build one side of my coil ends up at about 0.5mm from the lip. Never had a problem, but you'd better check your build before firing.
That makes it a no brainer to have you coil at the correct height though : basically you want to push it on the deck and let the springyness of the kanthal push it up a bit.
- On my copy of the BF igo the center post started spinning on me on my second coil. The post protuted from the bottom also. I pushed it and am now careful not to tighten too much, haven't had a problem since but the build seems a bit cheap.
- The cap is a bit loose on some copies but that's easily solved by changing the o-rings, using some dental floss, etc...

The beauty of all the choice is you find the perfect RBA for you. I'll agree the flavor is outstanding but what you love I hate. I like screw on tops. The air hole is in the same place every time, the top never comes off in my pocket, bag or when I pick up the mod by the cap.

I don't move my coil to the air hole after mounting, I build the coil to be at the air hole before mounting.

How true. The gripe i have with the igo w is the seemingly inferior quality (compared to the other rm) and the tiny airholes. After ive drilled them out, they are way better.

Must agree that the rm5's pretty good too. But has a look you either love or hate.

I am thinking maybe the wick is too dense, or when you squonk, you aren't fully immersing the coil. Cotton holds well, but doesn't do "up" very well, especially when compressed.
On the different strokes for different folks topic, I find the little attys like the Igo s give great flavor to the sweet side of juices, but tend to cutoff the darker flavors, like cocoa or dark tobacco.

I picked up one of these for my inbound REO. Thanks for all the comments and recommendations. I have a particular juice flavor that this mod and atty will be dedicated too. It's my ADV.

Trunker,

After reading your comment I asked Robert to drill out the airhole for me before shipping. A big thanks for the heads up/reminder that this was SS and saving me the trouble of having to drill it out on my own. :)
