I am 48 hours into alcohol withdrawal and was on diazapam. After checking my blood I have been advised there is signifigant but recoverable liver damage and have been given oxazepam instead.

I currently vape about 30ml per week of 6mg 50/50 pg/vg liquid. My question is will this hinder the liver healing process in any major way or cause any more damage as long as I keep clean from alcohol. Local GPs in Australia do not seem to be able to comment much on e-cig affects.

Cutting back on e-cig usage at the moment would be extremely difficult as the alcohol detox is a very unpleasant experience. I'm just hoping to put my mind at ease a bit.

Shhhh its a secret. ;)
I gave my doc and councilor some more info and they weren't concerned there were any real health risks. They said if vaping makes me happy to go for it.

Thanks for the support everyone, ECF seems like a great community.

Whatever keeps your mind off a drink... Sept 28 2003 was my last drink.

Its tough in the beginning but it gets better... not perfect but better.

Keep up the good work!!!!!

No toxic risks under normal use. Ethylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol Toxicity: What is Propylene Glycol | ATSDR - Environmental Medicine & Environmental Health Education - CSEM
Vegetable glycerin has a low toxicity rate. Generic link- http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...zco0w0-xQztBQ7Q&bvm=bv.68911936,d.aWw&cad=rja
I do believe hydration is the key when vaping so don't forget the H20.
OP: do a google search on Vitamin C and the liver. It is a very cheap way of cleansing the liver. Good luck in your adventures. :)

Thanks for the info, that is reassuring. I've been taking vit c for immunity but good to know it cleanses the liver.

1 week clean now and the anxiety has eased a lot. With all the money I'll be saving I might be able to afford to finally get a nice mod. All I have are a couple of ego style batteries and an MVP which I barely scraped the money together for. Got my eye on an itaste 134 because it just looks so awesome.

My prayers are with you Brother ..... I have been alcohol free for over a year now .... Those first few days were pure HELL and I know what is going on .... I was sick as a dog and very very irritable ....

In the end you will be a better person and much healthier as well ... You are in my prayers and if you ever need someone to talk to if it is getting to rough drop me a line

My 10 days of detox, I was in too bad of shape to smoke. I did go back to smoking with liver damage, When I went through 4 months of treatment. My acupuncturist prescribed me Chinese herbs for my liver and worked wonders. Stay strong brother. It's tough at the beginning. It gets better in time. My last drink was October 3rd 2007.

If you guys don't mind me asking, how much booze does it take to experience those kinds of withdrawl symptoms?

But primarily, congrats to all that have kept on the path.
It took 25 years of drinking for me. I wasn't a social drinker. I was the drinker that had to drink til I passed out. At the end of my drinking career, my tolerance had reversed. Alcohol became a stimulant. So the answer to your question is, I abused the hell out of it.

Thanks, It's great to feel alive again :)

Just a word on the Booze and vaping.

I'm 22+ year sober. It gets better. Get to an AA meeting ASAP once your out of detox (That is IF you want to stay sober).

How much booze does it take to get to detox, ALL OF IT.

Vape away.

The real meaning of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different outcome. Not going to happen.

Best of luck to you.
