Not sure why, but this comment reminded me of this here:

even after the trick is revealed people still think there is some Mordor wizardry going on...
Amazing!!! love the tricks- even when you see them, you can't tell what's really going on. I think there's a parallel when considering the vapor our smokefreE-cigs produce!

Have you ever seen the show, Cash Cab?

People get into a cab in NYC, and right after they tell the cab driver their destination, lights start flashing and a loud noise is played. Then the cab driver reveals that the riders are in the Cash Cab and there is a hidden camera.

The driver asks questions on the way to the destination and every correct answer wins cash. Three strikes, and the cab pulls over and puts the riders out on the street. The riders are not charged any cab fare, so unless the process makes them late to where they are going, no harm done.

Anyhow, one day these two guys get into the back seat and they turn out to be Penn and Teller! It was a great show. When they got to the destination and the cab driver handed them the cash, they said they were going to donate it all to the event they were attending.

I don't think it was prearranged. I think the cab driver was just as surprised as Penn and Teller.

I'm pretty sure that all the celebrity appearances on Cash Cab are prearranged as the charities are chosen ahead of time...

Boy, are you folks off the topic!

Until we get more information about what actually happened to Tom Holloway, all we can do is speculate. Penn & Teller is about as on topic as it gets right now. :p

Has anyone from ECF attempted to ask the Holloways what Tom was using? They aren't hard to find. They have a photography business in Niceville. There's been enough time for the shock to subside such that they would likely be willing to caution others to not make the same mistake Tom did.

My guess is that ECF staff is more concerned with the design safety of the mod rather than pointing out one particular model.
If the mod was a Blue Bandit, would owners of a Red Bandit feel safe? Whew, sure glad I didn't get the Blue one :)

If you don't know the exact circumstances behind the failure, knowing the model would not have the impact desired. I guess they already know, as does the vendor.

(sure hope there isn't a Blue Bandit Mod)

Unless they are comtemplating a lawsuit and have a gag order from their lawyer.

But if I lived nearby I might just pay a visit to their business and ask if they would be able to discuss the issue.
And if they said no, I would leave it at that.

...but, human nature being what it is, you would say that you were not able to be more revealing about the situation, because a law suit is in the offing, but you did see Tom and he is actually injured.

We aren't hearing anything like that at all.

With the run-up to this latest alleged incident, it's far more amenable to me to consider this another hoax, and wait until the real story is told.

I actually got asked about this indecent the other day while vaping at school in the smoking area. first of all that's terrible what happened to Mr. Holloway its a mistake that any person in a sub culture could make. Also, Second regarding the battery talk in every hobby you have people who want the best or something that is unique weather it is golf, cars etc. The post earlier about the public I agree with they do not understand what a mod is, The main stream media pages was bias which bothers me for journalist they should really do research, instead of scaring people that could cause some way to stay with analogs.

Yeah, I agree- people put bigger turbo's on their cars than are acceptable and boost them too high, detonating engines too. This doesn't make driving a car in general unsafe. These "mishaps" occur every day- we just don't hear about them...instead, we hear about the one or two incidents of someone with an exploding e-cig device.... Anyway:

Let this topic rest in peace....
