So I've been vaping for about 3 weeks now using a KR808D-1 kit, bought another, longer battery, ordered some blank cartos, sampled some juices, cleaned some of my used cartos by boiling and now I'd like to move on up to an Ego type device for longer battery life. I know, you've never heard that before! If I go with a genuine Joye EGO kit, who should I buy from? I understand the vendors are limited to the actual Joye brand but there are lots of clones out there. Any that stand out or should I avoid? What about the more economical clones? Any good ones out there? Will EGO cartos or 808s work with these clones? I like the idea of cartos better than atomizer and cartridges and would like to use up the 808 cartos I have before buying more cartos that "fit " the EGO. I know I need a 510 to 808 adapter to do this.
I'd like to know more about the carto options for an EGO, as most kits come with the atomizer/cartridge set ups. I turn to ECF for all this good advice. Thanks.

Hey, fellow Oregonian here ;)

I'd suggest the Smok Tech brand eGo from Welcome to MadVapes LLC

For under $50 I got the mega dual coil kit. You get two 900mAh batteries, a charger, really nice case, 4 of the AWESOME Mega Dual Coil Cartos, and I also had two cones and two standard 510 atomizers thrown in for free as well.

MadVapes 510 Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer Kit

Battery life is excellent, as are the mega dc cartos. They hold about 4mil of liquid, and the batteries will last long enough to go through all that liquid (all day for me)

Here is a current thread on the incredible EMDCC (Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartos)

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ego-type-models/201142-ego-mega-dual-coil-19.html

Lots of great info there.

Anyway, I'm very pleased with the Smok Tech brand. The price is amazing, and the products are definitely quality. You have to try those cartos to believe how great they are, they just blew me away.

Did your kit come with a wall charger?

Nah, unfortunately it just came with a USB charger.

You can, however, get adapters that will allow you to plug a USB charger into the wall.

Crap. I made three orders today from three separate vendors. I emailed them but was afraid they'd run out before I heard from them so I went ahead and ordered anyway.

You should try looking at Radio Shack or even check out your local supermarket's electronics section.

I know they all sell those USB wall adapters around here, usually for cell phones as far as I've seen. A friend of mine just uses his iPhone USB-Wall adapter to charge his PV batteries.

That's the one he uses, I'd really suggest just buying one locally if you already placed your orders online, that way you won't have to wait. Plus, it's such a cheap item getting it shipped probably wouldn't be worth it.

Good luck.

If you're looking for longer battery life for your 808 cartomizers,
for auto ones, what swedishfish said, Bill's Echo, (if you prefer black ones, then it's cropduster901)
for manual ones, Lecig's PigCig, VGO, iGO, elegant easy...

Or, you could get adapters

The echo is an 808. There's also the echo-e which is a 510.

Both are the same price, the echo has an automatic battery. The echo-e has a manual battery.

People seem to like both equally. I've gotten some of the echo-e cartos and used them on my ego battery and they work great, hold a lot of juice.

I believe the echo holds more juice than the echo-e cartos. Supposedly the carto can be reused 100x. No idea if this is accurate or not.

Another Oregonian here...I understand NOT all AC adapters will work with the eGo USB charger. Madvapes told me I needed a 2 amp adapter. I can't use the 1 amp adapter I already have from another kit. Between the volts, amps, ohms, mAhs, mas, etc., I feel like I'm studying to be an electrician. I thought I was vaping?

I hear ya. I'm totally confused about all that electrical stuff myself! Right now I'm looking real hard at an Echo (I like their big cartos) but does anyone know about compatibility with other e-cig accessories, like a pass through, because Echo doesn't have one? Also a Oregon outfit in Vernonia carries them; Northwest Vapors. I like to support local people if possible.

Hmm it would be nice to get some clarification from the guy/guys at MadVapes.

The only fault I find with this logic is that your computer's USB port is only putting out around 500mA, or 1/2 an Amp. Considering these chargers are made to be used with USB, and their output is only 420mA, I can't see why a standard 1A wall USB adapter wouldn't work.

By all means follow the vendor's instructions to be on the safe side, I don't see how it could hurt anything. But from what I can tell personally, there shouldn't be any issue using a 1a wall USB adapter/charger.

Not your specs but I can't imagine life w/o an e-pipe.
Can handle power thirsty dual coil cartos; my favorite.
Many PV's can't handle the dual coil.
Pipe looks and feels great IMO.
Cheapest quality epipe I know of is C squared; about $60 plus batt, etc.
I have mid priced jazz w/ drip tip; don't know how I managed w/o it.

Pic by C size batt and the roughstack which can handle dual coil also.

That's the reason I was inclined to go with the echo-e. I already have and ego so the parts for the ego will be compatable with an echo-e. 510 parts are pretty easy to find.

I was looking into this issue earlier today. MadVapes sells a cheap AC to USB adapter for $2.99, and when you zoom in on the actual photo of the adapter it says the output is 300 mA. They also have a 2amp AC to USB adapter for $8.99. Same thing for goes for the $2.49 vs. $8.99 USB car adapters they sell. In both cases they say the cheaper version won't run a passthrough without a battery, for whatever that is worth.

On a humorous note, I was in the Apple Store today and saw they were selling 2amp AC to USB adapters "for your iphone or ipod" for $39.99! LOL
