Maybe a meteor will smack me in the head and none of this will matter.
There is already more and more sealed 18650 flashlights, bike lights, etc on the market. When the battery dies the light is junk, and they all have onboard charging circuits. I agree that if the industry pushes for it, these bare cells will vanish, and it could happen quickly. The consumer product safety commission could also step in, especially if the battery MFG.'s are on board. Ecigs are just a handy whipping boy to highlight the issue. All of the obsolete products that use these bare cells doesn't concern the government, obsolescence will drive more consumerism therefore more tax revenue.
Of course, there likely will exist a grey market because these cells need to be sold bare to companies building packs for everything imaginable, and also for researchers and developers designing new products in all manner of venues. I don't think they will go away completely, but I do believe they will take more effort to obtain down the road.
You beat me to it.Not to mention, this forum as well as other forums will have threads on which battery packs to buy that contain the Mooch tested/approved batteries, in order to open up to cannibalize batteries, for those that are comfortable doing so. I know I'm up for it.
They will be more expensive though.

Multi symptom reliever. Not to say that I want this to happen.
But if it Does, I hope you're standing on the corner of First Street and Independence Ave when it Does.

Yup, there is already some good info out there. OTOH, once single li-ion batteries become illegal to sell to the public Mooch will not be able to get any to test for us so we'll be on our own to figure things out going forward.
He'll get 'em. We'll help him. Battery packs are expensive but not when you do a group buy where many people chip in to buy one or two.
I like the way you think![]()

Damn. Batteries were one thing I never worried about and you guys have burst my bubble.
Now I have to figure out how long batteries will last in the freezer or whatever you're supposed to do with them, and start building up a lifetime supply.
It's odd that UPS will deliver ammunition right to your door, but not a bottle of nic juice or some coils. In over 10 years of vaping, I have yet to set foot in a brick and mortar vape store. Not even sure where one is. That may all change in 6 years when I run out of stock. If I can still drive by then, LOL. B + M stores that have survived are about to see a huge up tick in business.
I'm not gonna stockpile batteries because at my wattage and resistance I usually pull 4-5 amps with 8 amps at the most. And the only reason I hit 8 amps is because of using preheat so I hit 8 amps for 0.5 seconds on some builds. If it came down to it, I could forego the preheat if I had to. Point is, I don't need 20+ amp batteries.
Because of that, just about any battery will be safe for me in terms of amp draw. I just have to make sure I buy power packs that have reputable cells with a minimum of a 10 amp rating. I'm sure such power packs aren't hard to find (of course I could be wrong but I'm still not stockpiling batteries).

I don't use more than around 4 or 5 amps. Are batteries in power packs soldered in? That would make me nervous.
Got a new invention
A plug to replace a 18650 with a cord coming out to plug to a car battery.
There is a dial for volt adjustment.
Hope they start making car battery's lighter.![]()
