OP, (easier than using all the alternatives!)
I hope after all the hilarity has died down that we remembered to say "welcome to ECF"
You certainly made a grand entrance and we hope you find all the help you may need here.
They are a grand bunch of folks here and as you may have noticed, with a great sense of humour,
even if a little weird at times (the humour, not the people) !... hmmm

and @rolygate - not the Norwegian Feeyords but the New Zealand Feeyords for the kakapo !

The rule is, you can be weird, but not any weirder then me...lol

Hey, has anyone heard about the bird...
Bird is the word!!!

Honestly, I feel that the rules here on ECF are a little draconian for a forum that is supposed to be helpful to people attempting to get away from something very harmful to their health.

I understand the concerns of spam, but on every other forum I've ever taken part of, there has never been a 5 post minimum to view most topics. I find it stifling and makes it very difficult for a new user to take part in the community. I simply do not understand how in 2015 this needs to be an anti-spam measure. I believe that if you're not a robot, and you want to spam, a minimum of 5 previous posts is not going to deter you in any significant manner.

I hope this opens up discussion for improving the policies at ECF so that new members are able to view posts that are relevant to their situations, which will strengthen the community by encouraging new members to participate right away.

There's very few forums you can't view, you just can't post until after getting 5 posts in here.

As somebody that deals with that spam on a daily basis, I can assure you that it is a very effective measure. We get hit with 100's of spammers on a daily basis. Some get through, but the majority are weeded out within their first few posts.

There is no restriction on you to view posts on the forum. Anybody is welcome to do that.

For those that want to join in the conversations and actually contribute something, 5 posts are never an obstacle.

Welcome to ECF, and I hope you enjoy your stay here.

"Kaka" means "cookie" in swedish...... uhm...

Note to self: avoid Swedish cookies

As for the five post requirement, it so very little work to welcome another new member or ask a question, I can't imagine getting bothered by it. People who are serious about stopping smoking should find better things to do than complain about making that tiny effort, in my opinion.

Nor is there here. Reading the rules/guidelines should be the first step, unfortunately too many new members just focus on the 5 posts and ignore the rest.

Ruhroh shaggy!

I'm not gonna report this (though it'd be a little funny for the guy to wake up, have his name changed for him, and then that be flagged), but kaka is a swear word in hebrew, spanish, creole & others -- due to its roots it's one of the more common. It's a really impolite word for excrement. If a bull was full of it, you'd say kaka deltaro (caca if polite, but we're swearing).

It's considered exceptionally rude in polish. It's the same in dutch (kak is considered really rude), but you can slide in german and yiddish (kacke), but in many of the nordic languages it's a cookie or small cake.

The best bet here is probably to change it to cockapoo, while chaining him to this avatar and a permanent link in his signature to the breed:

Cockerpoo.jpg

Sorted -- 100% plausible adorability.

In case you didn't read the entire thread... IT'S NOT A GUY!!!!!! SHE is female, as she already pointed out once.

I know it's hard to figure out with non-obviously-gender-specific usernames, but having been called "dude," "Mr," "man" and the like (even with a username which IS my name and I thought completely obvious as to my gender), it's very annoying to have folks keep calling you a guy when you're a GIRL.

Ok,
I'm really going to side with the MOD's here on this one in saying they do a great job of keeping the streets clean in this forum.
Referal links can lead to a forum turning in to a virus spreading yellow pages so I like that this is not allowed.
Spammers can destroy threads and a forum rather quickly, seen that done more then once in other places.
Trolls are the cesspool of society and will generate unwanted hate rid and chaos.

They do a good job of catching all that so everyone on ECF can have a safe and wonderful place to enjoy, hats off to them as I once was a forum moderator and understand its a thankless job that takes place behind the curtain per say. The folks that MOD here aren't trying to ruin your experience, if anything they are here to make it better. What was referenced as "draconian" can be viewed either way in truth, the party that posted the message may not see it like that but the MOD's do. Typically they open a dialog with the person and find out what's going on before moderation happens (sometimes I think, or at least in my case they did).

The 5 post rule is nothing bad, in reality some forums I've visited require 10 posts per month and a visit once a month at least minim to remain an active member, post a link and your banned, talk badly about someone and your banned, reference a known "Celebrity" in the community and your banned. ECF is not like this and trust me when I say the rules are laxed in comparison to a lot out there.

Again, welcome to ECF OP, the MOD's and rules are really not that tight as you'll find out, feel free to friend them and drop them a PM if you have any questions, all are helpful and I don't have a complaint 1 to thought... Heck even the forum owner will answer your PM which is pretty cool considering most other places the owner won't :)

You can do 5 posts in 5 minutes flat. Pretty sure I did, when I first got here. And you're right, most bots can do that and then escape into gen pop pretty quickly, the mods have to clean up the mess they make on a fairly regular basis. But the 5 posts thing shows them who the malcontents are (those who complain about it!), so they can be watched. ;)

Kidding... I think. Maybe. :D

I prefer the term "It" when referring to me, it keeps things simple. On days that its raining and the sun is out I will refer to myself in the first person with third person undertones to spice things up, Midnight and I agree with this, yes we do...

Gaaaah, this juice is so horrible that I can't stop vaping it, I don't like the taste but maybe I'm wishing for a better result...someone take my mod away from me.
LOL

I usually try to keep my .... to myself, but this one is wild...or natural...lol
I wouldn't like it said that I stare at my neighbors...

:?: :danger::danger:

Yah,
Wild ones are often the best to photograph, I like to see them in their natural environment. Hey I'm not here to judge how one obtains pictures of such fine quality, just know that its a fine specimen indeed..

Note: Suggestive undertones purposefully woven in to that.

XIIOXII,

This forum has been around for quite a while, and the system really does work. As Dusty said, you can read anything here you want to (with very limited exclusions, like the classifieds and the vendor-only forums). You can do this even without registering, and there have always been a lot of "lurkers" around, who don't particularly want to join, they just want to read. That's all cool, and nobody has any problem with that.

Yes, there are rules that might seem obscure (and even seasoned vets here manage to step over the line every once in a while).
There are very strict rules for vendors. These help to prevent scam artists and unreliable vendors from attracting victims through ECF, and also make things fair for vendors who do support ECF. They have to follow a bunch more rules than we do.

There are rules to make sure that threads stay on-topic as much as possible. This helps to make sure that the enormous amount of info on the site stays reasonably categorized.

There are rules to try to prevent spam on the site. Mostly successful. But still getting rid of the ones that get through is a major task for the moderators. (Visit the usenet lately? What used to be a tremendously valuable resource, completely destroyed by spam).

And there are rules designed to keep the forum a civil, friendly place to discuss vaping and related topics.

The rules may seem a bit arbitrary, but after seeing how they work in practice, I can tell you that these were not casual decisions, but rather very thoroughly thought-out choices, fine-tuned over the years, and the end result is that ECF is an awesome forum, and a great place to hang out.

I hope you enjoy ECF! Hang around for a bit and hopefully you'll see why things are as they are!

True, one is never enough
Though you would have to get the pair in the same picture for any type of relevance to be had, singular framed shots do not count as a pair, also location and background do add to the overall quality of the picture.
Just remember when attempting to take such photographs patience is the key, also hiding behind shrubbery or the likes will give you the best concealment options (though there are other tactics that work too).

Back in November I received a violation stating that the banner I was using was over the allotted size. Funny thing is that it was the same banner that many members are using now.

And if it's a nice one, they can be snagged up by others like wildfire :(

You can help by letting us (or them) know :)
