I often see people’s avatars and user names, and think “There has to be a story behind that” or “I wonder what that stands for”. I sometimes wonder “is that a man or woman”. A few days ago, I was surprised when Kiwivap said she was a she.

My avatar looks like one of my wife’s little dogs. He’s a cool little dude. We used to think he was unique until I found the ad in the paper that I scanned and made into an avatar.:2cool:

I’m not sure exactly what my user name means. I was having a hard time finding one that ECF didn’t say was already being used. It fits my style. If it had occurred to me I would have used JRinVA.

Ok,,,How did everybody else pick their usernames and avatars?

When I joined ECF back in 2009, I wanted to use the avatar name Moontiger. But alas, it was already taken. So I settled on Moonstruck.

I've always loved those pictures of tigers with a moon in the background, but the real story comes from a dream I had in my early teens. I dreamed that my great-grandmother had come to me. But instead of calling me Paulette, she called me Moontiger. I forgot most of the dream by the time I awoke, but since then I've always considered Moontiger to be my "other" name.

My avatar is one of my goats who is trying to decide if the camera is edible:) His name is Spot.

I picked the name Renoliz when I lived in Reno and got my first online mailbox. I've used it ever since but some chick on the radio started using my name so sometimes I have had to be Renolizzie like on Youtube [that's where I found out she is on the radio]. I'm thinking of getting more creative for the next forum I join. 14 years is long enough for one name.

My avatar changes quite a bit. It really depends on how much time I have on my hands and how long I've been staring at the current one. This time I went for one that matched my signature. And Mom said I had no color coordination skills.

My name's also my license plate, "IM TRICK". I usually tell people that trick is short for "Patrick." Usually they don't buy it.

I had been using either my real name or a 'nym created from the initial of my first name combined with my last name for email, bulletin boards, fidonet/Usenet, domain name, and Web fora for decades. Both were already taken here :(

A couple of years ago, I started lurking on a Web forum where I wanted to remain anonymous - in case I started participating. The folks on that forum concoct some very twisted schemes in their particular interest. Twist...hmmm...I had just learned how to tie a Bimini Twist loop knot for fishing and I liked it.

So with my real name/nym already taken here, I just went with Bimini Twist. My avatar consists of a drawing I made of the knot overlaying a cutout of a small 35-40lb Wahoo I caught (Delicious!) I may add my old Usenet sig file when eligible (15 posts).

Sitting down, facing forward.
My avatar is Bo, our dog, as a pup. He's about four times that size now.

My nickname, awsum, has been with me since the early 80's and was given to me by a neighbor for a reason I won't mention here (family forum after all). The 140 happened when I tried using it on a free mail site and I ended up adding the '140' on the end. Been that way since the Internet started basically.

Love the avatar! My dog Whisper wears doggles when she's riding with me on my motorcycle!

My user name is also my road name for the biker organization I belong to. I am a patched member of Bikers Against Child Abuse. I got the name Medusa because I have 5 pet snakes. My avatar is just me.

Great organization Meusa! I always support BACA!

--------------------

So, Wile E Coyote for my avatar. Wile E (Wiley) is my road name for my motorcycle club. I love Wile E because he never ever gives up. He gets up, dusts himself off and thinks up another scheme to catch that road runner. Even as a small child watching the cartoons, I realized never to give up. He's my hero.

I picked Tail11 quite a few years ago and I use it on almost all forums that I'm on. I chose tail - a nautical term to me. I also spent 11 years in the Navy. When I chose this name, I had 2 Chow Chows. So, it means a couple of things to me, my naval time, and my 2 beloved Chows.

BTW, I'm female.

i wanted the name gravelhill on a gardening forum that i use to frequent quite a bit,but i was told that it was taken already.
here in missouri where i live it is gravel ,rocks and clay hardly any top soil.

it was a rainy spring and summer that year and every thing was muddy on my hill,it seemed that i could not step out the door with out sinking in mud up to my ankles so " mudhill "

i am a old guy and a little cranky at times,,but mellow most of the time.

Doglips comes from the very old stone age of computers back when DOS and a floppy disk was all we had in our caves. My kids were watching Charlie Brown one day while I was on the computer and Lucy was freaking out about Snoopy kissing her..my lips have touched doglips, get the iodine. Well back then you had to remember your files names if you hoped to find them and only allowed 7 characters if I recall, so I started saving my working file as doglips. and then would change it later when It was completed. So when the internet came into the world, and I needed a user name, I just used Doglips.

My avatar, I see myself like Wile E. I think I'm a genius but most of my grand plans end up just like his.
