So, long story short, i've been looking for a new tank for a while and was quite difficult to pick out 1 of the many many sub ohm tanks out there.
Recently got me the Evic VT to see what temperature is all about. I have to say its fun but yea - back on track I ended up going with the crown for everyone have been raving about it. I have to say that it is nice, and well made.. but this is where things get ugly for me.
I'm not new (however not seasoned) to sub ohm vapage.. so i did my research as u do! took my time to prime the coil set it to low wattage and work my way up - all that good stuff. Turns out in 3 weeks I'm on my 4th coil and i've noticed that it's singed again at the top of the coil :( One of the reasons i've gone with the crown cos ppl keep saying that the coil lasts a month yet here i am spending all my time with priming and letting it sitting on the side to "soak"

Quick troubleshooting as well, I do let it soak properly after a fresh coil i leave it for an hour and work up from 20ish watts.. and go from there slowly.
i don't chain draw off it giving it time to soak refill it well before empty yet here i am hopelessly looking for answers:( TBH half of me is getting fed up other half has already gave up haha.

Any ideas would be mega appreciated!

Thanks ^^

Aye absolutely so! As I say especially after the first few.. I prime it til it's soaking it including the sides! Then break it in sort of speak, by starting at low wattage and moving up giving it a chance to wear it.. atm it's not even 30 watts but already noticed the flavour gone to crap, takes the coil out.. oh what's this one side of it is turning black.. :'(

Usually one of three things is happening when a coil burns.

1 chain vaping and the wick can't keep up.
2. The wattage is turned too high.

I don't think either of these are the problem.

3. The cotton is crammed too tightly and can't wick effectively.

Thanks for the input. Well.. as far as wattage goes ad I say I never really got to crank it properly up yet, I want them clouds an immense amount too! However coils getting charred.
Far as bad bunch goes 3 of them were ones that came with the tank itself. And also bought 4 extra ones (all are 0.5)

When u say cotton packed too tight... how do I determine / remedy that I wonder?:O

I chain vape on all of my tanks and one thing I have started doing when I start a new coil is after I get my coil primed up I take a pair of sharp pointed tweezers that came with my coil building kit and I kind of lightly "scrape" the cotton in the juice holes. Not enough to completely tear it or expose the coil. Basically just the top layer. That seems (to me anyway) to help my coils wick a little faster. I don't have a Crown. I only do this to my Subtank and Atlantis coils. Maybe that would help

You poor thing, i once had one of those

Some people can have no issues, others, plenty of them, have nothing but issues

You should read: uwell crown coil heads dry hit

And when youre done with that, read this: Why im returning my Crown tank to Uwell

Where i detail my saga with my Crown tank

Theres plenty of reading on the Crown on here, but thats the best place to start

Now that you prime and ramp up as recommended what is prompting you to change coils? Is it a drop in performance or bad flavors, or is it the appearance of the coils?

If it's that the coils LOOK burned or singed but still perform ok then don't worry about it.

Another issue could be your juice. Heavily flavored/sweetened liquids will clog and foul the coil and wicking faster. I've gotten months out of a coil with unflavored juice and the same set-up will go south in as little as 2 days with a heavy liquid, much tastier though.

If the wording of this post seems off: Epic hangover is EPIC!

Take a pin of needle and fluff up the cotton at the holes for the juice to enter the coil. Don't really pull the cotton out just fluff it up a bit so juice can get to the coil.

I have been having the same problem with my Uwell Crown tank. I do tend to chain vape and have been using one hit wonder juice, which I have heard is a coil killer juice. I have been lucky if my coils last a week. My next new coil I am going to try to fluff up the cotton and use a different juice. I will let you know if it helps.

Well from what I read your doing everything right. If you want coils that last a loooong time Tfv4. Every coil I ever used with that thing is still not burned. I tried both the T3 and T4 coil and they are still not burned out yet. And It's been like 3 months. ALso it comes with a rebuildable that is so simple to build on. The best part it is in the box when you buy it not sold separate. Well, the single coil RBA at least. Which is great and best with Temp Control builds

But isn't that tank a Juice hog?

TFV4 is, but, that is why I like it. The flavor is superb. Better than many of my other Tanks. You can always shut down the air intake. It will be more of a mouth to lung. The reason why I suggest it Is because from my experience, the coils last forever.
