Well I got my black tank and rba in. Tried a 4mm and a 3.5 mm, both verticleparallel coil. The 4mm was 24 gauge and the 3.5 mm was 26. I was trying to go as big as possible to keep the airflow wide open like the coil heads. Couldn't manage to get either positioned well. A parallel may not work like that as it messes up when trying to position it. I might go look up how they do it on the subtank mini as the deck design is the same. I also need to figure out how to wic it vertically. With both of those coils there was nearly no room to wrap a wic around it, again the subtank vertical builds might be a good guideline on how to do it.
As for now I'm using the .25 coil head. Thing sucks juice like crazy. After a couple of hits it's well below the metal bits at the top. Flavor seems ok right now, was running it at 3.5 and now running it at 4.3 volts to break the coil in and will take it up a bit after a few more hits.

Looking at that chart, only one thing comes to mind. " I wonder how that Silo Beast with a Herakles coil would perform?"

Try it :) Though I could find nothing on it, they emailed me claiming that combo does work. I questioned it because the Herakles coils don't have that threading on top like the Silo coils or the Atlantis from the pics I saw. That could be a great combo. If that tank was not so darn expensive :)

Where did they want you to mail it to? China?
He didn't even say actually.... I know they have an office in California, so probably there.

I was honestly just kind of disappointed that he said they couldn't vouch for the .25 above 70watts. I mean how many sites, youtube reviews, and other Crown owners here along with yourselves mentioned using them well above that? It honestly kind of ruined their reputation for them with me when the thing is marketed to be more powerful than they actually recommended to me, you know?

And the customer service was not bad, don't misunderstand, he was very nice and willing to help. But I've been here before, send something in, don't hear back for like 2 or 3 weeks, finally you do only to hear it gave them no issues, and you've wasted time and money shipping it around, and left with something you can't get to work. I mean hell I'd have been overjoyed if he'd just said let's send you a couple of new coils for you to try, but nope. He immediately went after user error and asked I send it in. So these are just going to collect dust...

I don't understand why you don't sending it in, rather than having it collect dust? :)

I have just ordered my forth Uwell Crown in black, I'm a sucker for punishment.

I just really want to get this tank working, why I personally have so many problems with them, I do not know, I have vaped a ton of sub ohm tanks but even, no priming, just letting the tank sit in the juice for an hour, few primer pulls, I get gurgling, every single time, on different coils, no matter what, they also run extremely hot, it's a dam mystery.
I was out yesterday and got to vape the black version, yeah I know, no difference but the color but wow, does the black look good, I'll say, better than the TFV4 I saw, it feels better, just over all better quality. The flavor beat the TFV4 on the sextuple coil too (same juice) and I said, you know what, I'm going to give it one last shot.....fingers crossed.

Did a little poking around and read a few people mention that the airflow was just average. Also can't find any confirmation of it would even work. Add that to the cost of the Beast, I think I'll stick with the Crown.

Could it be your supplier?

So yea, I joined the forum because i want to talk about this tank. My most recent sub ohm clearo's i have purchased are the supertank (great) and tfv4 (also great) but I heard the hype around this tank so i went and copped one along with a 4 pack of .25 ohm coils.

I think I am having the same issues as the few others in this thread. These .25 ohm coils are pooping out at 70 watts on me after a couple hours of vaping on them. So for i've only tried the one that came with the tank and one from the 4pack but I have a feeling its the tank and not the coils.

The thing that drives crazy is that both coils jumped like crazy. Every hit the resistance bounced. It fluctuated from .25-.30. That's a big change at 75 watts. I took apart the tank and played with the 510 pin and nothing changes the jumping. I also tried this on 2 different box mods same deal. It was driving me crazy so i threw the tfv4 on my sig 150tc with the sixcoil .4 coil and sure enough she sat pretty at .40 with absolutely no jumping.

As for now i put the Ni coil (that came with the tank) in the crown tank and she has been nice so far, been about 4 tanks deep at 530F 75j no issues. All of this has been with 80vg juice. Like others this is bothering me, I want to experience this tank at it's best.

You just never know with these vapor support staff peeps. Obviously he is not that in tune with the product, but most of my conversations with manufactures have been poor at best. I just made this video for you tootle puffing @ 120 watts on Crown. I am baffled at dry hits in the 60-90 range on the .25. How you got 2 defective ones is blowing my mind, but I guess anything is possible.

Enjoy my Southern accent :)

Hey man I live in texas. I don't have an accent, but I'm very used to them lol. Oh and its 3 tanks, not just 2 lol. Really appreciate the video, BUT...

I have BREAKING NEWS everyone who has been following along with my issue...

3 tanks, 9 coils... various PG/VG of various flavor types from various vendors on 3 mods, and every coil despite priming and prepping burned itself up.

Yesterday evening.. I had to go meet a client. I usually try to avoid this, but he's a long time good customer who likes to make suggestions on layout designs and have me do them in real time in front of him (if possible). I got this client into vaping actually....

So we meet at a Starbucks (cliche I know) guess what he pulls out?! The black Crown tank. I mention my problem and he says he's had no issues. I said yeah you and like 99.9% of every other owner...lol.

So he pulls out a box of spare .25 coils and gives me one saying he can't believe I got 5 bad tanks or that I'd be using them wrong.

I get home, I prime and prep the coil as I did for half the others (I primed them all but didn't know about breaking them in until halfway through them)....

This thing... holy $h!t... 75-80 watts I love it... no dry burn. I've taken it up to 110, and the coil could handle more than I could. The vapor got too hot for me to enjoy before it gave me any dry burn. I've been ABUSING this coil TRYING to get a dry burn and... yeah it only happens if I give the coil no break whatsoever between hits at 110watts, and even I can't handle that. I've gone through 60ml of juice, which already surpassed all other coils I had.

SOO.... Phil, and others having problems, make sure you are priming and prepping the coils correctly (it's not like a regular coil, properly preparing them is a bit more involved).. but yeah if you HAVE done that and they still fried on, grab a box of replacements and try again... for me I literally had 9 bad coils with my 3 tanks... but this one? It's hitting like a champ... unbelievable.... lol...

I did contact Joseph from Uwell and let him know, I absolutely had to come tell everyone here.. apparently there are some botched coils, so don't give up lol...

The ohms hopping is typical... this isn't kanthal wire which stays pretty close to what it's supposed to be.

I know you're probably priming them correctly, but are you breaking the coils in right? I didn't know about this until after I'd used a few of mine, but all of mine turned out bunk ironically.

If you read my previous post about a client giving get me one that is working beautifully, I follow the steps/directions from a guy on youtube. And with this coil I'm hitting now? Definitely seems to have done the trick.

Search YouTube for a channel Quest4Vape... actually a nice down to earth reviewer. But he's got a video where he's showing off the black Crown tank, the RBA base, and he walks you through properly getting these coils started and ready... if you have problems finding it, I've got Tapatalk set to alert me of replies, so reply back to this and I'll get it and send you the link to the video...

I figure I'll go ahead and post it anyway for anyone else... lol

Thanks for the link brother! I just followed this guys video step by step on a new .25 coil. I'm not even going to take it over 60 watts until ive gone through the first tank. After that i'll just adjust for flavor and time will tell if this works.

I'll admit that i treated these coils like all other sub ohm coils when breaking in. That might have worked for the other coils but maybe not this coil. I'll update tonight or tomorrow if she lasts.

I'm super happy for you, start low and slow and ramp up is the message :)

Pre-soaking the coil is not even 100% necessary and if over done on the inside edges can lead to gurgling, flooding and heavy spitting (<< self discovered early on). I find that filling it and letting it sit for a full 2 min and then dry pulling with no power for a another full minute or so and she is primed. Similar to the mini sucks the guy was doing but I do it with no power.

Next I do 40-45 watts for 2 minutes straight, then 60-65 watts for 2 minutes straigh, then before the 1st tank is half done I'm at 100-115-120. The whole process takes about 6-8 minutes tops.

More on breaking in, once I am in the zone I really like to even run the 2nd tank at pretty high excessive high wattage to help burn off the smoky flavor that the Crown SS coil has fresh out the box (it is a good smoky IMO), but some think it throws flavor off and this speeds up moving past that flavor break in. It is just temporary and some may not even notice it.

That's just me, my process.

Glad it finally worked out for you and I do believe that for most folks that watching this guys video is even more deliberate and crystal clear than reading text (less lost in translation). Thanks for finding and posting it.

.......I'm starting to think I am just going to tell people to suffer through and do 45 watts for the 1st full tank to play to make it more full proof (though it may flood).

Woot Woot for you. That's the bottom line. :) :) :)

The other thing to remember on these heads is that they are composed of dozens of tiny squares of organic cotton sandwiched all around the coils. Their is a youtube vid that shows the reviewer taking it apart. The small squares also appear not to be "fluffy". This is of course is a two edged sword, great flavor and clouds and also way more requiring to properly prime, break in, and sit. BTW, in the vid, he tilts the head so he only primes the outside cotton around the coil as opposed to the other guy who primes inside the coil which is a no no. Just takes longer the correct way.

You decide and your welcome.

/lol :)

Hey I've got a question for you guys. What settings are you running the nickel coils at? I was really enjoying mine at 485F 55 Watts, really good flavor but it turned flavorless in about a week. Didn't get burnt mind you but there was like no flavor what so ever. I tried a new one and it's not as good. I've played around with the settings ALOT and all of the sudden I am having a really hard time getting the flavor dialed in on their nickel. What do you guys usually run them at?

Right on man.. definitely let me know. I followed that video for about half, little more, of MY coils and they still went to crap.

But like I said, following it on the one from my client, wow... lol. Soon as I can I think I'll be getting three more of these in black and SEVERAL boxes of coils...

And I can't get on to youtube, my data sucks out here (making another run for a cusgomer. I never thought graphics and media would require house calls lol)... but yes, I really enjoy that guy's reviews. Uwell sends him things, but from what I watched a lot of his reviews he's done with hardware he purchased out of pocket, so you know things aren't going to lean one way or another... LOL
