Anyone else using these SS coils for temp control? The .5 works good on a dna 200 with a good SS TCR or the SXK board with the Nickel Purity setting at 10. I'm Rockin the .5 right now on my brass Nebula = 40 watts, 490°F. Flavor is great with these SS heads.View attachment 490820

I am using TC SS on SXmini M in Ti mode, its working well I am happy with it

I am very intrigued with this Tank, and with the prices falling I have to ask again;

For the 0.5 Ohm Coil are people having success with 50 PG/50 VG juice since I am unable to do High VG?

What is the starting Wattage to Prime the Coil and the Maximum Wattage for this Coil?

Some help on a few of your questions:

1. I vape a 50/50 juice mix with the SS 0.50 head. I know it's exactly 50/50 because I made it. :)

2. You may get different answers for this one which is fine. After the head is properly primed with juice the next step is "break in". Some let it sit for minutes or hours or even a day. Roughly start at 10 watts and slowly ramp up in 10 watt increments to your sweet spot.

3. Not the way I crank watts but others have had great success with 70 Watts or more. Actually, a question is how many volts you vape at and how many watts can you mod deliver?? Then we can compute the max wattage you need to reach your sweet spot. Easy to do with a calculator.

Good luck
:)

Very Helpful and Thank You.

I have the MVP 3.0 - Pro for 60 Watts Max.

You welcome. I also use that Mod among many many others :) Works like a charm for the way I vape.

With the 0.50 SS dual coil head the max voltage possible is 5.47722557505166

Typical for me is around 40 watts if I wish to conserve battery and juice and for max flavor. The Crown is a very very thirsty piglette. If I'm inclined to blow clouds open the AFC and crank to 60.

Well I was down to my last .25 coil so i put some other 80vg juice in there, primed coil from the top without the tank then filled the tank and only let it sit for 10 minutes, took a couple primer puffs and started hitting it at 45watts. I stayed at 45 making my way up to 65 watts over a half tank. Once the first tank was done at 65w i went a climbin'. Got all the way up to 90w flawlessly. The coil is beasting. Shame that the ejuice i am using is turning out to be not my cup of tea because the performance is beast mode.

But i am slightly concerned. The juice that I was using while getting all the issues is reportedly the same vg% as this new juice that is working great. hmmm

I like the sapor stainless drip tip in there. Slightly wider bore and like half the height. Only thing is I have to use pliers to get it out as it is press fit/has no o-rings.
Unrelated, I get a slight turbulence/gurgle with the afc 1 click from wide open. Does anyone else have this issue? I like the airflow there but the above problem kind of bothers me.

Air compresses. Liquid doesn't.
Tanks like these work on negative pressure (AKA vacuum) to prevent the juice from leaking out/down.
They need a bit of air in them (and a good seal) to hold the negative pressure.
Fill them all the way and they'll leak. Maybe not always but the theory is correct.
Simple hydrodynamics.

GOT IT!!

Filled it up with a DIY Banana cream. turned the watts to 35 and vaped it a bit. realized QUICKLY that I had mislabeled the bottle. No clue what the DIY juice was, but it was sickeningly sweet. Nasty... dumped the tank and let it drain upside down for a few mins, then refilled with a bottle that I KNOW is banana cream. vaped some more. hit 2/3rds a tank and bumped the watts to 45. Not bad so far. But Im also fighting a sore throat that started today. I mixed some mango/peach/papaya juice last night and was vaping it at work today. started really burning my throat. got home and checked the flavor bottles and the Mango has alcohol in it. I never let it evaporate off. So now it hurts to vape, but I really wanna vape this thing and get its SS coil broken in so I can crank up the watts to 80+ and compare to my TFV4. so far even on 45w it blows my subtank out of the water... But then thats not really any comparison. Ugh, I hate sore throats... They are NO damn fun.

Im not filling all the way up and Im getting that. No leaking, just before mentioned issue. I didnt really notice it when I was messing with the rba a minute ago so maybe it is the coilhead.

I got a little gurgle on -1 click too. WFO = no gurgle.
Restrict the air with the same draw and you've changed the air/juice suction ratio.
Simple hydronamics again.
Higher VG or WFO to solve.

I am using TC SS on SXmini M in Ti mode, its working well I am happy with it

After reading your post I have tried this as well but so far it not seems to work well.
My temp raitings are all over the place and get not above 180.

What are your settings?

Maybe I do something wrong, I use the 0,5 ohm SS coil, lock the resistence
and put the SX mini in Tio2 mode on 350 f and I have tried 20-50 joules
but as said before the temp readings are all over the place (but never hit temp protection) and the taste is not as good at all compared to the Power mode.

OK, right now my settings on SXmini M are 35J 425F Standard resistance 0.51 Ohm Ti01. It is my understanding when in Joule mode that is TC mode, but whatever I am getting great results with SS 0.5 coil.

sx350-j v2.23 is the latest upgrade installed, actual reading from display is 35.01 J, 4.42v, 0.51 Ohm, 425f, M1 standard.

Main menu settings 35J, 425f, temp f, coil ti01,exit on, sys on, link off, power and Joule set to Joule, I have also used Ni mode it works ok but in my opinion Ti is better.
I can't say for sure my settings are correct for TC but I have not had a dry hit, but so far have always had juice in the tank, maybe I fluked it but its working fine for me.
Hope you get it sorted....burnie

What's the average life expectancy of these coils? I got about a day and half from .5 vaping it at 40 watts 500° F. Towards the end, burnt hit city, not dry hit. Looked at the coil and it was a dark gooey walnut and the wire wasn't even visible. Vaping - Teleos Pound Cake. I'm guessing these coils can't stand up to gunking juices. I don't think I'll be buying the pre made heads, I m gonna wick this rba section up and just try to use that. I also doubt that these SS coils will actually be useable in temp mode on a Yihi device, considering the lowest TCR curve is somewhere around .0035-.0040 for Ti01. SS TCR curve is around .0010. Better off running it in power mode til Yihi does a SS update. But As long as it vapes good and yer happy............rock out.
