V2 ran a full page ad in today's NY Times entitled:
An open letter from the leader in electronic cigarettes

If anyone obtains a weblink with the body/text of this ad, please post

Below is the first sentence of the letter, subtitles of three Myths, the two paragraphs describing Myth #3, and the last several sentences of the letter.

Myth #1: Electronic cigarettes are just like tobacco cigarettes

Myth #2: Electronic cigarettes target young people

Myth #3: FDA regulation of electronic cigarettes will protect consumers

Regulating electronic cigarettes just like tobacco cigarettes actually may harm consumers. The FDA could prohibit the online sale of electronic cigarettes and limit their availability to the "tobacco wall" behind the counter of most retail stores. In addition, current regulations dictate that new tobacco products require FDA approval, which is a long an arduous process. While this may work for tobacco, if applied to electronic cigarettes, it will stifle innovation and impede consumer access to smoke-free alternatives.

We believe regulations are important and support those that promote transparency, such as reporting the chemical composition of electronic cigarette products. We endorse the FDA's goal of ensuring that products are reliable and consistent -- public confidence is paramount in our eyes. However, we do not endorse regulations that will severely limit choices for the 44 million adult smokers in the US.

Once in a generation a new product comes along that fundamentally changes how we look at things. The electronic cigarette is that products; it offers a viable alternative to tobacco cigarettes, a product that is universally condemned. We understand that some might be afraid, but it's time to blow out the candle and turn on the light bulb. It's time to move this country forward by ensuring access and choice for US consumers.

Please join the discussion by visiting vaportruth.com Download letters to your Representatives and Senators and let them kinow you support the choices that electronic cigarettes provide.

Sincerely,

J. Andries Verleur

I think the letter is well crafted and a positive approach by a large PV seller. I think it would have been better if he would have referenced several of the studies supporting our position on the safety of vaping, such as the one out of Drexel University. It would have also been helpful if he had referenced CASAA and encourage the "average" citizen to visit the CASAA web site along with his web site. Here is the home page of Vapor Truth site:

Adding the Drexel study, CASAA, etc is great idea. Come on vendors!!! Get your buddies together, and let's see a full page add in lots of mags and papers ... Signed and supported by hundreds of mom & pop vendors.

Ohhhhhh, us civvies can do something too, right? We'd need a 10 pay add for all the signatures lol, but let's go!
