Actually born & spent 1st 4 years in England. Apart from a year back in 'the old country' when 16, lived in Oz all the time. Consider myself "dinky-di" though perhaps not quite "true blue". Ew, doesn't it make you cringe ?!!! We don't all talk like that, honestly. The "Good on ya cobber", " good onya mate" "Beaut" etc. I want to hide under something when I hear those "okker" expressions.
So, Katz, no Thanksgiving but "Black Friday" sales? Ah, Australia, the "land down under"
Well, I'm afraid I have no idea what either the "Black Friday or "Cyber Monday" things are about, and we don't have any sales for them here. Still, I can enjoy a good V4L sale as much as the next person. Problem is, I was pre-filling my cart with good intentions for the Friday (pre-8am here) sale, I was up to over $500 US !!! Eeeeeek!!! Might have to prune that down a little, no matter how good the sale is. Curious about Thanksgiving & Christmas in America. All I know about it is what I see on tv programs & movies. Seems to me you eat yams & turkey in a big roast/baked meal, you have family get togethers, you might talk about what you're thankful for. So what do you eat at Christmas - more turkey???? (I don't actually like turkey, prefer chicken myself.) And many families, coming together twice in such a short time might put serious strain on family relations 8-o

Our meal is usually Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Cranberries, Lefsa (sp), and ofcourse Pie.
I will get to Christmas meal when it is closer.

hmm... this is totally new problem.. I seem to keep getting juice on my lip from my drip tip... I havn't had this happen with past wow juices, or juices from a diff vendor.
I am wondering if the juice is just runnier... or not soaking into the carto as well... I know it isn't over filled I usually syringe fill and suck the excess back out.
It definately makes my lip all tingly... kind of fun... but obviously should probably refrain from letting it happen too often

Good morning folks. I made coffee this morning and now I'm sad. I'm not supposed to have hot beverages yet. And I have no ice. I did vape a little. Just stuffed that wad of wet gauze in there, and lung inhaled to avoid most of the sucking. My jaw is achy tho.

This afternoon: Pumpkin pie (cheating and using Mrs. Smith's "recipe"), thaw Edwards Turtle Pie, bake "crownies", only this time I'm using refrigerated peanut butter cookie dough on top of the brownie batter (instead of choc chip).
My mom's been gone 8 years now and I miss her the most at Thanksgiving. She made the best cornbread dressing and giblet gravy in the whole wide world and I've never been able to replicate it. I guess it's missing that cup 'o' mamalove

@Katz : it depends on the family tradition what people eat .On thanksgiving when i was little it was all the aunts/uncles /cousins ,fun household full of people .
For us ,it was always Turkey ,mashed potatoes ,homemade turkey gravy,yams or sweet potatoes ,stuffing ( or dressing ) and cranberry sauce ,dinner rolls ,pumpkin pie is traditional but most larger families have many pies for dessert .
Men watch football and women cook it and clean lol .basically thats it but maybe the Macy's annual parade on tv from New York City ,ny .
When my mother in law and parents were alive we always cooked everything from scratch ( no bought things ) .
To me ,its really one of the easiest things in the world to cook it ,and certain things are made ahead .
When people get sick of turkey ,they usually do a prime rib roast or a ham but really nowdays people just cook whatever they like .
I often find thanksgiving to be harder on me now then christmas because I just miss everyone more .I dont have any grandkids yet and neices and nephews /brothers are all over the country ,so its just us 3 and simple .Family is what its all about for me and friends .When i have a bigger house again i want huge thanksgivings and hopefully a grandkid or two

my aunts and mom were hysterical ,,,not really fighting as they were all real close ( her sisters in laws ) but very funny as they all got older .I used to get propietary over my kitchen when i was young and wouldnt let the mothers in ..as they pass it on to me i really wanted to do it myself
thats ok ..keyzy ...get the hawaiian sweet rolls ...they do in a pinch !
I dont make homemade anymore ...mom in law made great ones and i am not willing to go thru all that lol
