I think I just bought the vamo 5 clone.. Really upset!! Bought it for 55 in a smoke shop.. I went on YouTube to look at tutorials, and saw the vamo 5 has its name on it, which the one I have is plain.. Nothing on this one!! I called up the store and the guy said that his boss gets all his stuff from a reputable guy, but he said bring it back and they can swap it out for something else and that his boss will be in.. What website carries the REAL vamo 5??? Please help

There are several different companies that make the vamo.

They sell them in multiple colors and will etch them with the shop or vendors name for an additional fee.

I wouldn't worry about wether or not your vamo is a clone as no company has claimed to be the originator (to my knowledge) as long as it works as it should and you are happy with it.

If you want to be upset about your purchase however, I can show you where you could've bought one online for under $30.

I think KSD manufactured the original Vamo and sold it under the name of the Bamboo mod. I paid $80 from a B&M for it back in the day. I still have it and it works great - so did I get ripped off?

I don't think so, and that's all that matters. It did what I needed it to do for more than a year. My wife still uses it occasionally and it works flawlessly. Back then the cheapest Vamo kit was from fasttech and could be had for about $45

I've never seen a Vamo V5 with the name on the mod. As Dampmaskin said, there are several different manufacturers of the Vamo. If yours works in the way that a Vamo should work, I personally wouldn't be too upset. $55 from a B&M when you can get one for around $30 online is probably about right as well.

So it's up to you. $55 for a Vamo is not terrible, and if it works as advertised, you got a good entry level APV that will give you a good vape.

EDIT - Just noticed it was your first post. So welcome to the forum, take a breath, have a vape, make some friends and stick around :vapor:

All the above, many makers, and I, too, have heard that KSD made the first. Mine's a KSD, no "name" on it. Works fine.

And yes, a B&M will be a bit more than online. Higher overhead. As long as they're not too far out of line, and $55 isn't, imo, worth the NOT waiting, and worth the local service.

I was thinking about upgrading from my spinner 2 to a vamo v5 and found one on fastech that comes with a tank, charger, and 2 batteries. Would this thing hit good or better than what I have now? I have a kanger mega tank and run 1.8ohm coils. How long do the battery or batteries last on a hard day of vaping? I can burn 3.6 ml of 70/30 juice in about 14 hours and still have 45% battery life on my spinner.

LOL! I could show you where I just bought a black-chrome Vamo v2 for $17... ;) Same as the V5 pretty much, except it has a TOTALLY flat top (hate the slight bevel on the V5) and I think the V5 has some additional settings, but otherwise pretty much the same.

The quality of the "hit" is from the atomizer, not the battery tube it's on top of.

PS: also -- don't get batteries from Fasttech; it will take them FOREVER to reach you, because not many carriers will carry batteries anymore, and they probably have "fire" somewhere in the name -- definitely NOT trustworthy.

I know, I had a V5 and hated the top. I gave it to a co-worker.

Every Vamo I've had so far (4? 5? I can't recall) I've bought here through group buys and only ever gave $20 plus shipping for them.

At that price I think they are a bargain, anything beyond $35 seems too much for me, just get an MVP, but maybe that's just me.

I completely agree; to me, $40 for a mod is the cutoff -- I spent that on my original vv3 (which came with those horrible iClear16s), and on my Sigelei Zmax v3, and also on my Fallen Angel (EA Mod clone), though I also got a kick for that, so I guess it was actually $57.

I *loved* finding the black-chrome Vamo for $17; I'd been looking around for something to match my gunmetal Smok UDCT, and that was a dream come true. Had to wait while it sat in NYC ISC for a week, but still worth it -- and it looks awesome with my gunmetal Smok UDCT! In fact, I like it so well that I'll probably end up with a stainless version of the v2 before long; found it for $23 at some site. Though I'm looking at an Origin; they're only 21mm wide, and with a Kick, a mech is almost as good as a regulated, and will probably last a lot longer.

So the atomizer is the coil right?

Yes... whether tank or dripper or carto, the atomizer is what gets the vaporizing done. The mod is just a tube for batteries; some have electronics for all sorts of things (variable voltage or wattage, checking ohms, checking battery charge, etc), and some dont -- mechanical mods -- but they're all just battery tubes (or boxes!). Those who use mechs also talk about "voltage drop" or something, and apparently some mechs are pretty bad for that, but really the atomizer is the "business end."
