Aluminium or nickle plating? If that's a nickle layer it might polish up nice.

When it gets worse I will probably just strip it and polish it up with fine steel wool. Where the coating has worn off the metal looks pretty nice. I think just aluminum, no nickel coating but I could be wrong. I had to strip a laser pointer last night and got a nice looking brass finish after polishing it up (seems that the industrial rubber coatings used on electronics start to break down after about five years and become a gooey, sticky mess). Once I transform it I will post pics.

How about RED! Asked my wife to cut out the template on her vinyl cutter for scrap booking. Turned out pretty good for first run!

Okay I am about to pull the trigger on a Vamo version 2 from Zainy.

The likelyhood of a Version 3 any time soon is probably unlikely right?

I don't know anything about any plans for a version 3 but the SS model I ordered yesterday from Health Cabin shows that it has a significantly more robust bottom spring.

I just got mine from Health Cabin on Monday and it did come with the longer spring already on the PV. I had some mixed emotions about it since I did order the other battery cap but it was identical to the one already installed. All in all, I have an extra one on hand in case my fumbly fingers lose the original at some point.

There were also 2 shorter & wider springs in the shipment that I assumed were from the original design since I hadn't ordered any parts except for the extra end cap.

So they gave you two free version 1 springs?

They're selling two different types of battery caps now?

I haven't checked with HC themselves I'm pretty sure they're the springs from the first version, yeah. Why they sent them too, I haven't a clue but I've never complained about free spare parts. lol

From what I can see of the pics and what I have in front of me, the cap they sent on the unit itself and the extra cap that Mike linked are the same thing. Basically, if you're going to place an order for one now, you don't need to order the extra cap unless you want it on hand. Luckily for me, it wasn't an expensive oversight.

Here is the latest I my Vamo finish coming off. No flash used. What you see is the bare aluminum.

That's not aluminum. It's more likely nickel, which is what makes chrome a silver color. What is rubbing off is a smoked (dyed) chromium coating. The bare metal under the nickel is brass. I can't figure out why your device is losing its finish so rapidly. I can only imagine that the unit skipped a final step in the process. A powdercoating place could strip and refinish it in any color you wanted or you could DIY. You'd have to dismantle it completely before it was stripped. A wrap might do well in the meantime. ModSkinz should have a Vamo design soon enough.

Yep I did the same last night, selected no page scaling & it looks about right. I may not cut off as indicated for the 'extension' seam since I only use it in 18650 mode.

Now to find something other than the paisley shelf liner we have hanging around. :D

I may try some of this stuff: Carbon Fiber Film | Dedicated To Selling 3M Carbon Fiber DI-NOC Vinyl

Hey Count, the 3m Di-Noc is great!!! I have a v1 lava tube, like had it before Volcano ecigs, v1 and had di Noc on it since with no issues. Highly recommend

So here's some updates folks:

1) There are Vamo's being sold that DO NOT remember wattage settings. Whether they use different components or just different firmware, we do not yet know.

2) A potential issues has been found with VW mode after a battery change. Whether this is affecting the "clones" or all Vamos, we do not yet know. See http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/canada-forum/361248-problem-vamo.html

My Vamo doesn't remember settings if I change batteries. It remembers my watts setting if I had it turned off and turn it on again.
I don't stack 18350s, which is where the issue seems to be with LR attachments - after a stacked battery change, if I read it right. Reading through that thread it seems it doesn't always happen though.
The easy fix after changing stacked 18350s is to press the right button to check the ohms before firing.
