so the issue deepens. interesting. there are at least 2 manufacturers of the vamo. KSD/Rainbow is apparently the shoddier one. im guessign Vision's Vamo is the better one based on what you describe. there might be other manufacturers of the vamo too, ive seen them called ego vv/vw apv and also Bamboo- probably because of the segmented design.

my vamo might be the KSD/Rainbow one. the screen did come scratched and it was not all that shiny. but i got a killer deal on it so im not concerned. if it poops the bed, oh well, i wont be losing any sleep. its a great device and i hope it doesnt die, but i am prepared for it to eventually.

Yeah, the two that I had that were made by KSD weren't the least bit attractive to say the least. lol Heck, I had to buy some metal repair stuff - kind of like JB Weld - to fix the joint at the mid-section of the Vamo, as it was very wobbly. I also had to replace the grommet in the 510 connection the same day that I got it. Frickin' crazy! Oh well, I just look at it as a learning experience. I wonder if all the people who have to replace that grommet are using KSD Vamos? Really makes me wonder...

well the grommet hasnt given me any problem. and the joints are all secure. i guess other than it shutting off here and there, its the 510 connector thats my issue. its wobbly as hell. maybe that is indicative of the KSDs.

I was having this issue the other day, more than likely it's a bad tube contact or it's the screw under the cap with the black wire soldered to it. It can work its way loose. On mine I went to take vape and I got a weak vape, when I looked at the screen it said 02 then shut off. I turned it back on and tried to fire it, it fired for a second then just flashed then shut down with no code. I googled vamo 02 code and was led to another forum with the fix (very first link btw). I used a chunk of leather and channel locks to remove the cap without damaging the finish.
My problem was the screw, problem solved.

I'm having the 02 issues. Will randomly flash 02 or just flash and shut off. 5 clicking just makes it flash again. I end up taking the battery all the way out for a few seconds, and it will turn back on after that. Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into the repairs. Too bad because I am loving this thing. It has made a huge difference in my vaping experience (I'm a noob). 18650 powered devices are definitely the way to go.

Just a heads up. It was not easy removing the cap. Keep working it back and forth, vise grips would be better to use. I was about to give up when I noticed it was crooked, I thought it wasn't moving. It took me about 20 minutes to remove. 2 block of wood and a hammer to repress it together (only a few light taps)
Check your solder points too, my black wire (one soldered to screw) was hanging on by a few strands. I added more and made sure I had more wire into the solder.

Bench vise would work too, any metal shops around you? A computer repair shop will solder it for you for next to nothing.
Lol, not like the vamo is hard to replace but this could be a fairly cheap option for you.

The vamo turned into my whatever pv. Lost, broken, stolen... Whatever. When it's gone I'm not replacing it.

What do you use mostly now? I may attempt this because it's getting worse. Been meaning to get a soldering kit for a handful of neglected projects. Anyway, this is making me consider drinking the Provari kool-aid. Not interested in replacing it with what could be another broken one.

<--- drank the kool-aid. and would do it again, but alas i wont need to. the thing is a mack truck. i got my provari in august of last year. got the vamo a few months ago. the provari is showing absolutely no signs of use or abuse, both of which it recieved in spades. the vamo....showing signs of both. but the vamo cost me a hundred dollars less. both machines are doing what their worth dictates, so no complaints from me.

*thread update* my vamo hasnt turned off on me unexpectedly since i got the new spring. it holds the battery in nice and snugly. bonus: no more rattle either! :)

So I am assuming this is the link to the instructions? It's pretty good nevertheless:

Vamo 02 fault code and top cap overheating possible fix.

Are we allowed to link to other forums?

As for the Provari, think I'm going to hold off as long as I can. There's something about spending that much...I mean, there's smart phones that can power satellites which are less expensive than that thing.

^^very very true. but if the provari had a mandatory contract to buy X amount of supplies and juice per month, you better believe they be giving deep discounts on them and possibly even givign them away for free. thats why cell phone companies do it. all the money is in the contract. and thats why contract-less smart phones are several hundred bucks.

i hear you on holding off on a provari. i held off for as long as i could. one bit of advice: stalk their clearance section, which can only be viewed when you are already viewing a product (the menu on the lef tchanges once you click on a product, then the clearance section will be linked). i found a chrome "blemished"* provari for $140. and thinking back, i would make that purchase again in a heartbeat.
the reason why i put bleminshed in quotes is because i cant find the blemish. and neither could anyone else.
but ANYWAY, enough about the provari. back to the vamo. im very happy that my vamo is no longer suffering from its problem. its all fixed. back to new. better than new actually. :)

btw, yes you are allowed to link other forums. being that this is just a product forum and not a supplier forum, its not frowned upon. as far as i know anyway.

Thanks for dangling that carrot! "blem" as a keyword with their site search works too. At this rate I probably won't hold off much longer. It's only 2 cartons of reds here in Mass really. ;)

having the same issue here, adjusted the center pin and really didn't notice a difference. I have been rocking a vivi nova and from what I have heard on the grapevine is that vivi's are notorious for compacting center pins. going to try out my new AGA T and AGI to see if I continue to have the same problem. I have the Vamo V2 so in my case it is definitely not the spring. I would like to resolve the issue because its incredibly annoying. I was thinking about getting another one but after having this one for about 2 months-ish not so sure if I am already having issues even with brand new batteries. I have dropped mine a time or two but they haven't been major. I wan't to say that something has gone awry with the electronic side because it cuts off at random even when I don't hold down more than say 5 secs. I also have issues turning it back on after it cuts off. I give it enough time to reset and sometimes it still takes me nearly 5 tries to get it to turn back on. As long as it still works I am ok but am thinking it might be time for a new mod, perhaps something else. shame because I really love my Vamo.
*UPDATE* so I took the advice of replacing the center pin oring/washer and it seemed to work a little better for the first day or two. It only cut itself off 2-3 times throughout the day. Now, its back to cutting off every time I use it. Its definitely the new vamo so its not the spring. Its become more of just an annoyance, it happens nearly every 4 or 5 draws. I ordered a zmax V3, I think my vamo is going to end up hiding in a drawer. :(

Hellcat,

It sounds to me like the battery is losing connection now and then. You can tighten things up by stretching the spring. You can get up to 1cm of additional length in the spring through stretching. You can also try using a rare earth magnet. Personally, I run 2 18350s in my mods, and with the Vamo and that battery configuration, things are tight, but with my Zmax v2, I had to not only stretch the spring, but I use a magnet between the two batteries. I also use a Vape Safe 2 fuse in my mods, and that adds an addition 1-1.5mm. PM me with your mailing addy if you want to try the magnets. I have a bunch of them, and wouldn't mind popping 2 or 3 in the mail for you.

Remove the top cap and check your black wire. They soldered the wire to a screw thats in the top cap instead of the cap itself. My solder joint was weak and causing it to shut down. The screw was working loose too.

BAH!!!! I do rebuilds but I am not that tech savvy. Know of any vids or links that would help me through the process? Not really sure which version I have, the box it came in says eGo Variable Volt/Watt APV.
