Actually, the Vamo uses press fittings rather than threaded connections and that is what has caused problems that you have probably read about. I have an older version vamo and I have had problems with mine the few times I have dropped my vamo. The gap at the joints can become larger and even make the tube crooked. If you check out another recent post you will see that the Vamo 5 still has this type of connection so the problem still remains. I responded in that thread, as have others, with our fixes for this issue. Let me just say, though, that I still like my vamo in spite of this problem and have been using it for a year and a half. If you are careful and don't drop yours you should not have any troubles. Check out this thread in this section.

I have the Vamo v5 and there was a slight gap. It was slightly crooked. It still performed very well. The other day I noticed the end connection fell off while shoveling the driveway. I did find the piece and it was bent. Put it back together and now it's quite solid...fits great....and still performs as well as the first day I got it.

The 510 connector threads on the Vamo have been suspect since day one (apparently).

Of the 18 Vamos I have bought, I have had 2 exhibit bad 510 threads. Both were bad on arrival. 1 SS V2, 1 SS V3, both were usable with a 510 adapter installed. Both were replaced at no charge by Fasttech.

Of the other 16, 510 threads have been solid. (Wife and I own 8 Vamos the other 10 are owned by family members)
The only V5 purchased to date has been flawless.
I've yet to have the threads fail on any vamo that had good threads when received.

That said, verify the 510 threads first thing upon receipt, regardless of the version.

Good Luck

I have a buddy that the threads on his v3 went bad it will not take any tank I throw at it. He said forget it and order him the v5. I don't want him to waste is money if he is going to have the same issues with the newer version. Wish I knew if they where bad when he got it due to what another member has said.

@Clmarti78

Depending on where the Vamo was purchased, your bud may be able to return it for repair/replacement. I've returned two I got from Fasttech. One of the two was used for about a month before the threads totally gave up. The other one was DOA.
Have him check the return policy where he bought his. He might get lucky.

I have a V2 and a V5. The V2 threads were very bad and started going after a few weeks. The V5 aren't quite as bad, but I wouldn't put much faith in them. I had an air flow controller, but I just didn't like the form with it on.

As far as button top's or flat tops, both will work, but the flat tops may require a bit more effort. I have to press them into my tube before screwing the cap on.

After my first atty's glass broke when it fell over (I think I wrenched it down too tight too) I started going to the mini mode when I take it outside and screw the lower battery tube inbetween the top cap and body. Now the glass part of the atty is shielded. Not sure what I'll do when I get my honkin aga-td coiled. It's pretty top heavy and larger in diameter than the v5's body so if it tips that might be hard on the 510 threads. We'll see.

So far my V5 is solid - except for a power/fire button that kind of rattles. Works pretty good even with a cheap CE4 atty.

I've had my V5 now for a couple of weeks with constant use and a lot of tank changes. I've had no problems with the treads even with using some 808 to 501 adapters on it for using some older stuff I had that still works good. I've also gotten no rattles from anything on it as it has remained solid since day one, working prefectly.
