So I got mine yesterday and I tell ya the thing hits hard...I got it with to free glassos to test and I love it...vamo kicks my mvp2 and svd's .......it just hits hard I miss it (have a old beaten v2 I stopped using cause misfires) how do u check if I'm on rms mode now..same as b4?

To change the mode (ALWAYS run it in V(rms) mode), hold down either the plus (+) or minus (-) key for at least ten seconds until either "NO1" or "NO2" is shown on the display. The one you want is "NO2".

I've had my V5 for about a month. In comparison to the V2, on the plus side: I think the finish (SS) is nicer, the screen is better and does not wiggle, the +/- buttons are more solid and won't change the settings nearly as easily if you brush them with your fingers. There may be a slight improvement with the threading, but as someone else mentioned, do not over tighten the head and be gentle with screwing and unscrewing a head. Like the V3, you should be able to replace the top cap for about $7.00 if the threading becomes a problem, if I understand it correctly. I would put some NOLOX on the head and end cap threading, which helps. vaping wise, it's about the same as the V2.

jclay you will get a small instruction booklet with it. It did not cover very much so I found this on another site I thought this might come in handy for us all. It really helped me

VAMO Instructions:

Product Description
The Vamo APV is a vast improvement in cost and design over its predecessors. It offers both variable voltage and variable wattage modes, and can increase power by .1 volts or .5 watts. This device can stably operate between 3.0-6.0 volts or 3.0-15.0 watts.
Device Instructions
1.To turn the device on or off press the big button 5 times in 2 seconds.
2.To switch between the VV and VW mode press and hold both mini buttons at the same time.
3.Use the left and right mini buttons to increase and decrease the voltage or wattage.
4.To check the remaining battery voltage press and hold the left mini button for 5 seconds.
5.To check the your devices resistance (ohms) press and hold the right mini button for 5 seconds.
6.This device will work with one 18350, two 18350, or one 18650 lithium ion battery. Both the AW and Unprotected batteries on our site work well in this device.
7. To switch between AVG and RMS mode press and hold the left or right mini button for ten seconds. It will display NO1 when it is in AVG mode and NO2 when it is in RMS mode.
The Vamo runs in both V(avg) mode and V(rms) mode. (Average and Root Mean Square). Basically, it’s the way the output voltage is approximated using PWM (pulse width modulation).
To put it simply, V(avg) mode delivers a vape which is way more powerful than it supposed to be, especially at low voltages. A 3V setting in V(avg) mode is more like 4.3V in reality. V(rms) mode gives a more accurate output.
To change the mode (ALWAYS run it in V(rms) mode) hold down either the plus (+) or minus (-) key for at least 10 seconds until either “NO1″ or “NO2″ is shown on the display. The one you want is “NO2″.
This device has the following protective features.
1.When you press the big button for 10 seconds or more the device will shut off.
When using a single battery and the voltage drops below 3.2 volts the screen will display “LO”. Please recharge your battery before continuing to use it.
2.When using two batteries and the voltage drops below 6.4 volts the screen will display “LO”. Please recharge your batteries before continuing to use them.
3.When you use an atomizer at 1.2ohm or less the screen will display a “LO” ohms warning. Please use a higher resistance atomizer to prevent damaging your device.
4.When you are using an atomizer with a short the screen will display “LO v”. Please change your atomizer to prevent damaging your device.
5.The device will not work if you put the batteries in incorrectly. Please remove and replace the batteries with the positive end towards the top of the device.

I think these instructions may be for older Vamos, but it was the best that I could find at the time.

marshbunny, I am not sure if there some different electronics among the v5's or not, but mine shows either: Output Mean or Output RMS, when cycling between modes.

Quite possible I could be missing something or not doing it right, as I have only had it 4 days now.

RMS vs AVG:

The VAMO V5 is defaulted to RMS. The V4 supports both AVG or RMS as follows:

Press and hold down the top left or " -" button for at least 10sec, the OLED screen will display its current state either Mean or RMS Output. Press and hold it again to toggle it to the other state. It is highly recommended to set it to and leave it set to RMS Output.

Specifications:

Max Amps: 5A,

Working voltage: 3~6.0V,

Watts: 3~15W.

Thread: 510/eGo

LCD displays working resistance and battery voltage

Variable Voltage & Wattage:

-3.0, 3.1...6.0V

-3.0, 3.5, 4.0...15W

Instructions:

1. Press the large button 5 times to turn the unit on

2. Press and hold down the "-"button more than 3 sec to display the Battery voltage

3. Press and hold down the + button more than 3sec,to display the resistance

4. The +/- buttons will change the voltage in 0.1v increments or the Power in 0.5w increments depending on the output setting.

5. Press and hold down the + and - buttons at the same time to enter the Menu. Once in the menu the top right or + button will advance thru the menu and the top left or - button will change that menu setting. There are only 3 function settings in the Menu.

Menu functions:

Menu 1: Hold down both +/- buttons and it enters at Menu 1 and says Power/Voltage. Use the left button to set to either Voltage or Power output. Power output is beneficial in that regardless of your atomizer resistance, the unit will hold constant Power setting for the same vape. You forget about voltage as the unit adjusts that behind the scenes to hold the Power constant.

Menu 2: Once in the Menu by holding +/- buttons advance to menu 2 by pressing the top right or + button. Menu 2 will say LCD Display and then pressing the top left or - button will allow you to switch what is shown on the screen while vaping. You can choose Power(voltage if set from menu 1), Resistance, or Battery. If set to power it will show your setting in Watts (or Voltage if output set to voltage) during vaping. Resistance will show the Atomizer resistance, Battery just shows the current charge of your battery.

Menu 3: Once in menu from holding +/- press top right or + until you get to Menu 3 and it will say LCD On/Off. This menu function just allows you to turn the OLED on or off during vaping

Low Voltage/Short Circuit Protection - display shows "LO-V":

1: Either the batteries need to be charged

2: Vamo short circuit protection kicked in and the head resistance is too low

Just curious wv2win, but what is so wrong with AVG? Not that I am doubting you, or going to try it. Just curious that's all.

:toast:

It's complicated and I'm not an electrical engineer. The AVG mode averages the heat signature of the coil and ended up providing a very inconsistent vape for most. RMS provides a much more consistent vape. There are even charts that some of the electrical engineering types provided several months ago to explain the difference. Bottom line, RMS works well, AVG does not.

You don't want to use a Vamo in AVG mode, only RMS mode. They got rid of the AVG mode for a reason.

Actually they didn't get rid of the AVG mode, and these come set in AVG mode. That's why everyone says they hit harder than the V2.

To switch to RMS mode, hold the minus button until you see OUTPUT RMS displayed on the screen.
