The only difference is how they look. One factory brougt out the "version 3" Vamo - its just a different look on the body of the device. Edit: The V3 has a removeable top cap so you can use a Kanger T3 without an adapter. (Sorry - forgot that before).
I prefer the Vamo v2 myself, and have two of them.
So - whichever you like the look of is the one to get. :) You won't be missing out on anything.

Not even close. I've had 2 v2s and now the v3. I am very happy with my v3. Much better built. Easier menu system, kind of a cross between the z-max & the old Vamo V2. Losing the AVG mode was really needed. The quality of mine seems significantly better. I like how the battery tubes are completely removable. The removable trim ring is a nice touch that make cleaning the 510 connection a lot easier. Easier to clean overall. The threading on mine seems better all around as well, not quite "buttery smooth" like PBusardo would say but, pretty good. The threads on both my V2s was literally terrible. Couldn't even use either of them in the 18350 configuration. Everything on mine is just a touch better than my v2s. Now as this is a <$40 mod I am not sure about their quality control. I have absolutely no problem recommending the V3.

I saw 1 youtube video and 1 thread here on this issue. Both have the one that says "Rainbow Heaven" on the screen when you turn it on or off.

To me the fact that the V3 having a removable top skirt is a big plus. Not only it's easier to clean, you can now use larger ego-threaded device w/o having to use a adapter.

Can't really knock the device then just because somebody modified the software and messed up. I would make sure not to buy the "rainbow" version then.
