So I'm reading through the fasttech forums and trying to understand the coupon code "pricecontrol". As I remember when I did it, I put the code in and it instantly took the the price down to $114. I'm lookin at my PayPal statement, and I was charged $114. I wasn't charged $159 and given $45 store credit. My question is..........actually I don't what my question is. Did I do something wrong?
As far as I'm aware all coupon discounts have had to be stopped because Vapecige are doing price fixing and won't supply retailers if they sell less than $160 per unit. I tried PRICECONTROL at slowtech but unsurprisingly it didn't work. You got a very good deal there!

Couldn't resist.

Works out to £72. Or in other words I paid £60 for the chip, £12 for the battery, and got the case, buttons, 510, and putting it all together for completely free :) Incredible.

But based on what others are saying about it being a year old coupon code, not meant to work, I hope they don't cancel orders before they ship and request the missing $45.

UK/EU users, these are now listed (pre-order) on Angel Fire Mods for £110:

VTBOX200 (DNA200) - MADE BY VAPE CIGE - ANGELFIREMODS

You'll almost certainly get one in your hands quicker ordering from there versus FastTech. £110 is $172 so if FT do pull the coupon code, you'll only pay a $13 / £9 premium versus ordering from China, for which you get faster delivery to your door and the big advantage of being able to return a faulty unit to a UK supplier instead of China.

But I'm banking on them not cancelling the code, or at least honouring orders already made with it, and £72 is just too low to resist even if I have to wait a couple of weeks longer. I already have a self-made DNA 200 (albeit not in a proper box yet), so this will be my second.

They will 100% honor the price as it was meant to sell for $114 in first place.

I hope you're right, but what do you mean by "meant"? If the manufacturer intends it to sell for $159, with price control, then surely it's meant to sell for $159? Couldn't they refuse to supply to FT if they're selling it below that?

Companies like Yihi are very strict on their price control - and state they will refuse to honour the warranties of devices sold below the price control. Then they stop supplying directly to those vendors.

So if VapeCige contact FT and say they won't honour any returns, FT might have to cancel because they don't want to have pay themselves to replace any faulty units.

We shall see.

FT wanted to sell it for $114 in first place but then had to correct it. Thats what I meant with "meant" :D
You are right about the guarantee thing, but I don't think that FT has any guarantee on their Kangertech stuff, so they will honour the returns within the FT warranty.

It is definitely possible that they have to cancel all orders in case they can not source the VTBox, but in the past they were able to get it through an intermediary at least.

Ahh OK. Well that's very encouraging then, thanks. It's not an old code but very much intended, and if there's precedent for them honouring returns for products where the manufacturer won't fix them, then that's great news.

@AtmizrOpin it's all OK :)

yeah your right the coupon does work, i think i was trying to enter it in the wrong place. If Vapecige get wind ft are still allowing discounts even after their warning issued if anyone is selling below $160 it honestly wouldnt suprise me if vapecige cancel ft stock order. This went up around the 6th / 7th August. I dont mean to be party pooper but the notice is quite clear

Are you sure? Tell me again everything is going to be OK. It makes me feel better and puts me at ease. I'm a worry wort. I need DNA goodness in my life.

In all honesty and not bashing or anything but I'd be less worried about the price being honored and more with having to deal with them for warranty repair. If you follow Evolv's early adopter forum you'll see there's numerous problems being reported with their boards, installations or just up and dying after a period of time. It does seem as though Evolv has been really great at warrantying their product, but it may mean you may need to desolder and disassemble your device to send them the board or wait a couple months to send it back to China for repair or replacement if you have a problem. I don't really know how FT process's their warranty so the couple months I suggest may be a over exaggeration.

I'm quietly confident. FastTech are extremely careful. They won't ship products to countries they might get sued. They drop products at the first sign of potential trademarking - even if it hasn't happened, and well before their rivals do. They appear to take no risks whatsoever.

The fact that they accepted my order today, more than 10 days after that announcement, tells me that they are pretty sure they can fulfill these orders.

They may have a special arrangement. After all, we're talking FastTech, not a small B+M or provincial online store. Quite possibly VapeCige are willing to turn a blind eye as long as FastTech aren't actively advertising the discount, in return for thousands of easy, local sales. The vast majority of consumers won't buy from FastTech anyway, so they might figure there's not much business lost.

VapeCige get the same money either way, it's the advertising that's the key point. As long as FT don't make it obvious they're selling it for that price, that may be good enough to allow the orders to continue.

All speculation, but my main hope is the fact they're still accepting the orders so long after the announcement.

Anyway, worst case they cancel and we either have to pay the extra $45, or get full refunds. No cost to us to get a chance at an amazing deal.

I have no problem with the FT warranty, worked flawless in the past. Sent it back and after 1 week I got either a replacement sent or my money back. No big concerns here. If it breaks after 6 month.. Bad luck. But 114 is worth the risk for me. Even if it's lasting only 3 month :)

Yeah if they ship, I have no concerns at all. The concern is that VapeCige might live up to their threat and simply not ship any to FT. But that is a riskless gamble, and anyway I am fairly confident they will get them.

I hear you. However, as long as I get it in my hot little hands I don't care if the board dies after a week. I've built, soldered, tapped and threaded enough DNA 40's to take the board out and send it back to evolv. They've been awesome with working with me in the past. I repeat, GET IN MY HAND NOW VT200! I need your 200 watt preheat goodness!:w00t:
