If you bring it to their attention--by asking permission (which you DO NOT need, BTW. If something is not specifically prohibited under law, it is implicitly LEGAL) the default position for most people is to say "No". People have been trained that if you have to ask permission to do something, it is wrong or illegal or you are asking for some sort of special exemption from something that isn't allowed.....
....You don't need "permission" to vape. And asking for it is like asking your neighbors for their permission to go to church or vote for a certain political candidate--it is neither their business or within their authority to deny you...
Respectfully disagree. Walking barefoot and shirtless is legal, but dozens of establishments in every city will deny you access and service if you show up that way. In a park where no smoking signs are posted, vape hard. Let people see and learn what it's all about. In a private establishment or place of business, tread lightly. The owners have the right to impose whatever rules they deem are fit for their environment and patrons. If we go on the offensive, we'll receive the opposition you discuss. But if we tread lightly, and with patience and tact educate and cooperate, I suspect we'll make more progress.
You may not need permission to vape, but you are not on public property and they can tell you to get out. That plus the fact that it's common decency to ask first.
We really don't need to rile people up and asking isn't hard. 90% of the time I've had people say yes, very rarely do they say no, I don't know where you get that from. That's my experience anyway, living in the same city as the op.
Exactly. I don't yet see the acceptance in my town that you're talking about, but I'm slowly doing my part to be seen and to educate. It's in everyone's best interests to embrace it, and we have to help people along to reach that conclusion.
As the old children's story about the Sun and the Wind teaches us, persuasion is better than force.
Side note: I may be crazy but wouldn't it be interesting if restaurants started offering an e-cig (non nicotine) as a low-cal dessert? Isn't that freakin genius?
Yes, you *may* be crazy, but I think you're on to something! *giggles*.... It's been my experience that my cravings for snacks and sweets has been almost entirely curbed by the menu of yummy vapes I have at my fingertips to enjoy! Some nights, I actually have to force myself to have a bite to eat before bed, because I realize my stomach is actually growling and I haven't had anything for 6 hours or more! I never expected vaping to curb my sweet tooth or snacking, but it's just been another bonus!
