Im going to vote number 2. Difference was immediately obvious to me. Smoke has those little lingering trails that hang in the air forever. Vapour is kinda thicker looking and in the air shorter.

I am not sure id vape on a plane. Maybe stealth in the airport. I dont do it at the doctors office yet either. I am happy to do it in the supermarket though, openly, and do it virtually every week when I shop.

Interesting matter of cultural "taboo", but so far, anyone whos looked at my vaping in the supermarket or similar, has seen that my e-cig isnt a ciggarette and simply not cared at all.

Back when I had a white model, i used to get "you cant smoke here" occasionally Then id explain, and theyd just shrug and walk away. Not any more though, the visual difference makes the difference obvious, ive not yet been questioned except by the simply curious.

Still negotiating the boundaries personally.

Non-smokers ive been around have been non-plussed if I do it right next to them.

People have been happy for me to vape inside when smoking inside is not allowed.

Without any prior understanding, people seem to automatically consider it different, which is good.

But in highly taboo areas, like planes and doctors offices, or even indoor restaraunts....i dont feel comfortable confronting people's ideas like that, at least at this point in time. I think in a doctors office, or restaraunt, or plane, id probably say nah - people are eating, or sick, or its a confined space. Not that its bad, but its still a smell/chemicals, just courtesy.

Airport itself should really be kosher in theory, its a wide open indoor space. Dont think vaping should be prohibited anywhere, but politeness as a virtue rather than a regulation should be encouraged.

I do travel quite a bit. I vape in airports, not stealth yet not obnoxiously. I have in Atlanta, Philly, Charlotte, Denver and Detroit airports. Forgot to add West Palm. I have never gotten looks and have walked by airport employees while vaping. I reiterate I was Not vaping obnoxiously nor stealth. I do not use a cig-a-like. It cannot be mistaken as a cig. I did not palm my devise or try to hide it in any way. I do vape to where there is minimal vapor but there is some. My PV's are eGo Twists (both 1000 and 650mah) and the ProVari with extension cap. My delivery device is the 3.5 Nova and sometimes the mini nova. It would be very difficult to hide them.

If I act like I'm doing something wrong, I will be percieved as doing something wrong. More people do know about e-cigs than you think.

My last security checkpoint, I laid my Provari on top of my purse. The one security lady checked it out and called her supervisor over. He said that he had seen it and wants one. I said "You're a vaper?!". I got real excited. :D. Alas I couldn't have a conversation as he had to work and Hubby was waiting for me.

Vaping on a plane is an individual airline policy. For long cross country flights, I have been known to vape in the bathroom halfway through the flight. Do not let the vape go up to the smoke detector. It will set off the smoke detector. Try it at home and you will see. Blow it down your shirt. Short flights, less than three hours, don't bother me since I'm able to vape before getting on the plane. As soon as I'm off and into the airport, I'm able to vape. Traveling has become a much less stressful time. I'm actually able to enjoy it again. Yes, I do remember when I was allowed to smoke in the back of the plane. I'm old

I have stealth vaped on a plane, but only when it was a fairly empty flight (no one else on my row) and most everyone else was asleep. My coworker who was traveling with me saw what I was up to and got a kick out of it. It's a great place to vape! (Of course I do not endorse breaking laws or airline policies.)

I vape without hesitation in the terminal and no one has ever said anything or given me strange looks.

newish here and thought id chime in with experiences, i travel a hell of a lot, if i am going to stealth vape on a plane (being a long haul lets say London-Dubai then Dubai-Melbourne) i will ask the person i am sitting next to if they know about ecigs etc.. and see if they mind, i hold in and dont blow vapor. So far, have been only stopped by 1 air hostess on british air (long flight), but on gulf-air (i think...) from Bahrain to Dubai, in the safety announcement before take off, it was announced on screen that ecig's were not allowed to be used on the plane. Just a heads up for anyone using that airline.

I stealth vape on a plane, and in bathrooms at the airport if I need to (which I really don't, I can go 2 hours or so without a vape).

I use a mini ego clone, and a carto filled with 100% pg at 24 nic (I normally vape 18). Sometimes with a drop or two of something fruity added so it has a teeny bit of flavor, but no smell.

This setup has next to no vapor, and what there is I can easily hide on a plane for a hit here and there. I've done it a number of times now. I don't flaunt that I'm vaping, NOBODY would ever know unless I told them, the ego's up my sleeve and my head/mouth is fully covered by the hoodie of the huge sweatshirt I always travel in.

I do check my bottles/batteries/tanks, but I had more leakage this trip than ever before, so am thinking I may carry them on next time...I just hate wasting juice.

Congratulation on one week, that is awesome. You'll have a year before you know it. But I follow smokers rules. This subject comes up often here and there's lots of boasting about where people have vaped. Would you want a person somehow stealth smoking next to you on a plane, if that were possible? Vapor isn't smoke to us. To the person sitting next to you, it is.
People see stealth vapors I'm sure and it doesn't endear them to our cause which is at a critical juncture right now. But nobody can tell others how to live their life but I think we'll pay in the end for 'vaping everywhere.

I agree and have found in the last nearly 4 years cigarette free, that if I consider the other person, they will usually come to understand our plight AND the devices when given the opportunity to be informed. Not once have I been denied the use of my device. But I have not been "in your face" about ti either.

And i always remember that just because YOU CAN, does not mean YOU SHOULD !!
